Nintendo has rolled out a new patch for the Nintendo Switch. This latest update corrects some problems that occurred following the major patch (11.0.0).
Apparently, some games couldn't be played correctly, there were screen issues and also some control problems. Below are the full patch notes, courtesy of the official Nintendo support page:
Ver. 11.0.1 (Released December 10, 2020)
Corrections for the following problems that occurred with system update version 11.0.0:
- Corrected a problem where some games couldn't be played correctly.
- Corrected a problem where, in combination with some TVs, the image would not be displayed in TV mode and an error occurred.
- Corrected a problem which changed how the Control Stick and the C Stick on the Nintendo GameCube controller responded.
To learn more about the existing update, check out our previous post. It added a bunch of new features including an NSO icon to the HOME Menu, the ability to transfer screenshots to mobile and PC, new avatars and much more.

Glad we're getting more than "fixing stability issues" now
But.....is it stable?
These go to 11.0.1
"bUt hau dere nontEndoh nut guiv us pafact Oopdayts?! Dis Kompani NO gud! shud haff bin pafeck fumm da start!!!!!!1!"
lol
These legs eleven updates have got... potential, or something.
So they didn't fix the icon?
@JayJ : No, because it is iconic.
wHeReS fOlDeRs aNd tHeMeS?????111
Don’t tell me what to do!
But ok, I will.
...What, no stability improvements?
Oh great. Sephiroth split the Switch's stability, too?! What won't he slice and dice?!
No folders, free N64 Online or app to unlock the Switch Pro mode? That's a hard pass for me.
Pleased to hear they fixed Mutliple issues.
Well lately I've noticed over the last month or so every now and then when i turn on my switch from sleep mode the fan will start blasting even tho the system doesnt need it running
Did they fix the typo though?
Thought there was something wrong with my GCN controller while playing Sunshine, and it kept going off like there was a shortage... maybe it wasn’t messed up. I rarely used it when it came with Wii U Smash.
I have noticed that my Switch has crashed slightly more than normal, but I assumed it was the weak porting job for Grandia. Hopefully I experience general stability improvements.
Latest joycons started acting up again, out of annoyance i purchased Kydlan Upgraded Replacement for Nintendo Switch from Amazon prime. Update means nothing if Nintendo won't do anything about this overpriced joycons that drifts after a 7months or a year usage 😠 permanently.
No mention about fixing the Google Analytics thing, they did intend that! :-/
The stability has reached its peak
Wait? Is this an actual update log??
Nintendo really isn't the same anymore
Ok so not much to see here then.
So they can fix a Gamecube controller error they made but yet to touch the joy con drift issue? Okay then.
@Dizavid Part of the control stick "fixes" involve Joy Con drift, but I'm guessing Nintendo is still going the cheap way.
I was really hoping for an nes or snes online addition
No stability improvements? Nintendo is slacking.
NSO Icon still as ugly as it always was.
LET'S GOOOOOOO! The control stick in the GameCube controller got Fixed so I can play Smash Bros now!
They just rolled out an update just for the update, to show everyone that they still do something.
Going to make sure google analytics is still set to "don't share".
Edit: I checked. They didn't mess with the setting.
When will the people start saying, 'ITS NOT A GUD UPDATE U DIDNT FIX THE NSO ICON I HATE U NINTEMNDO!!!!!!'
I purposley misspeled nintendo to show that these people complaining cant even spell the name of the company they are dissing they are that stupid
Can I play MK11 now without using an entire sd for it. Had to buy a bunch for all the games i purchased
Does anyone know if there will be an update so you can not have to connect to WiFi to play for non primary switches?! That’s so DUMB
@Ok-I That function keeps you from freely sharing digital games with multiple consoles. So, that will never happen. It is dumb, though, I agree.
Hopefully that control stick thing helps with my Switch Lite's drift....
I hate Nintendo for not giving us folders. They add completely pointless useless crap like a NSO app to the home screen, yet can’t do something as simple as folders.
Installed the update and now none of my cedar trees in ACNH are decorated! What??
Unstable UNSTABLE
well... this is ***** depressing
I just got my switch today and have spent 3X more time trying to get it showing a picture on my TV then I got to play it. The green light is on but my screen is black, says "no signal" pretty bummed..
@TheSmashTheorist and "GUD" is a word now?
When was the last time there was a stability update. From what I can tell is the eshop is far from stable!!! Where are the themes that everyone wants? If we can get them will they be stable or will they make my switch even more unstable? We need to know these things because life right now with covid is not stable. I don't need folders, I've been pretty stable without them.
@Joeynator3000 i guess it's because the drift has left everything a bit unstable.
@Bobb what do you mean?
They fix major bugs where some games don't work and TV mode sometimes won't activate, and it's only worthy of a 0.1 update? 🤔
Meanwhile ridiculously mundane updates are worthy of jumping an entire version? 😅
@Alievans77 the Festive Season are during dezembre 15th to january 6th, next week you are gonna be able to craft holiday seasonal itens.
@outsider83 just dumb humour
I meant it as in Nintendo usually doesn't release an actual change log on their firmware updates (though they did a few recently) , mostly just "better user experience" or "stability"
@Slowdive That caught me off guard too. Like..some games did not even start? They add it to the list like some superficial minor thing without explaining it. Haha.
@Dizavid It's hardware. Not software. this is software update.
Guess more homebrew killing....
@Rpg-lover are those better than the daemon x machina hori grips? I never saw those or I'd have tried them 1st, cuz they're priced about 30% less.
@Prizm I'm sure because it was like a "hotfix" update (in games like destiny 2) & was done quickly.
@Cosmiccharlie1993 is the HDMI hooked up to the "hdmi in" socket & the TV turned to the correct channel or mode (like channel 3 r 4 for some, & a specific A/V mode for others)?
@TheSmashTheorist that just looks like they hit an extra button on accident, the m. It should have been more blatantly misspelled, lol.
@twztid13 they're both the same thing, however, it's better than hori, i must confess. Hori is licensed by Nintendo, perhaps that's why the price is slightly higher or more.
@Slowdive Perhaps that's why I couldn't launch Borderlands 1 or 2 succesfully, until the games themselves had received an update the next day I believe. I'm not sure if I get the timeline right, but I THINK there was the update, I installed and booted the Borderlands games for the first time shortly after, and had a game crash every time, no updates to speak of. Next day I tried again, there was a quick update to the games, and it all went perfect.
Last update my switch lost all audio thankfully this one fixed it!
@Herbalchunk1242 again purposley misspelled
i wish they made usefull update for online gaming.
partychat, achievements etc.
Now patch in folders thanks.
