Those Xbox figures never fail to give me a naughty chuckle.
Microsoft should just forget Japan. As much as XSX interests me, it's over for them there.
@EVIL-C
I think there's something to be said about having it available, even if only for people who move to Japan from the Americas or Europe.
I love the idea of this Mario Kart game but I still feel like you need a lot of room to be able to play it.
@Heavyarms55 Pretty good numbers in a country renowned for lacking living space in populated areas.
Did you forget about the Tundra DLC today, NL? I expected articles plastered all over for this.
@Heavyarms55 yep it's the main reason putting me off and the fact there isn't a sensibly priced double car pack.
Launch sales of games with a mandatory hardware accessory:
> Labo Kit 1: 93,118
> Labo Kit 2: 27,667
> Ring Fit Adventure: 68,497
> Mario Kart Live: 73,918
Pretty strong opening that. 3D all stars looks to have run out of gas pretty quickly though
Almost as many new switches sold as MKL kits lol - coincidence?
@Duncanballs No double pack? Kinda surprised to hear that. Guess I just assumed that was a thing.
@Wiltonroots I lived there for 5 years, some of that reputation is somewhat overstated but yeah, it's a thing. But like everywhere else, some people have money.
@lyle_catcliffe
Every week Nintendo sells more Switches than MSFT does in the entire Xbox lifetime. Depending on which side you are, it'll either make you laugh or cry. I like Xbox, but I still laugh!
@Heavyarms55 More room would definitely be better. I live in a 1,050 square foot condo and I am able to set up some good tracks between my living room and my kitchen, but I have an open floor plan, so no walls and plenty of floor space between them. You need some room, but not an overt amount.
Yup, we're getting a Peach kart soon enough.
So almost 96,000 Switch'es sold in one week. That really impressive. Will be interesting to see how the PS5 fares in Japan when it comes out. But the PS4 having been pretty much dead for a long time is not good sign for Sony. It's not like the PS5 offers anything really new besides better graphics, better loading times etc. IMO.
@Heavyarms55 I get that, but also the sense of speed is augmented by being so low to the ground. The actual Karts don't move that quickly, but on the screen it looks much faster relatively because of the point of view. (to me anyhoo)
If it was Mario Kart 9, it would have shifted close to 500k.
Really good numbers for Home Circuit, especially considering its higher price.
And both Switch models combining to sell 90k+ in a single week. Wow.
@EVIL-C I think pre-sales for the new consoles in Japan have been encouraging for Microsoft. I remember seeing that somewhere.
@OorWullie probably over a million
But high price tag and specific audiences with some room at home which is not that common in japan
It is pretty good figures and great idea
@Heavyarms55 just like @GrailUK says, the actual kart doesn’t move that fast. especially at 50cc. also, when going at 150/200cc, the camera blurs making it a bit difficult to see the AR obstacles on the track. so if one has a little bit of play space, you still can come up with some good tracks that you’ll see clearly on your screen and have a blast with it even at 50cc IMO
@GrailUK @idork99 It's not the speed I was worried about, just physically having the room to set it up. I feel like, for a lot of folks, it's not likely to be that feasible.
Don't get me wrong, I am not bashing on it, I just think you need to have a certain amount of space to really enjoy it.
We will probably get more carts soon right?
MARIO KART LIVE inside of the WWE THUNDERDOME!

I've been loving Mario Kart Live. My family and I have made so many different courses together and had a blast with every one. I recommend it to anyone with kids 3 to 18 and beyond. Totally worth the asking price in my opinion and I would buy a standalone kart or 2 in the future when Nintendo inevitably releases more racers.
How? The Japanese don't have the floor space for this surely.
Hopefully this will be a good enough sign for them to expand this toy/game — more karts
and markers that you can stick on the obstacles you place so that the AI opponents could also interact with it.
And better yet, make an off-road/outdoor version of this!
unfortunately, this doesn't work for those of us who live in really old apartment buildings. i live in nyc, and it seems each room of my apt is a faraday cage. it just disconnects after 10 seconds. it'll only work in our very small kitchen. so i had to return it for a refund. i really wanted this to work. i had so many great ideas to make this fun, but whatever is in the walls of my apt, it just wont allow it to run.
@blueracer That sounds more like buyers remorse. This is one of the best ideas to turn the game into real life racing with Karts. Anyone returning it because they bought it for other reasons then defective hardware is just a shame.
@Heavyarms55 I just think you need to have a certain amount of space to really enjoy it.
That will be the hardest part for anyone to do.
@SwitchForce it isn't buyers remorse. i have no regret about my purchase. i love the idea of this vr kart. i had lots of plans to create my own course in my apartment. but the simple truth is it did not work. it literally disconnected each time i tried to play it in any of the three rooms i was in. the only room it actually worked in was the kitchen. that was the only room i was able to use it in with the gates. but my kitchen has no space, it's extremely small. so yes, this issues comes from the device. how does every other wifi enabled device in the apartment work with no issue except for this device? my game consoles connect to the internet with no issue, my smart tv's connect to the internet with no issue, each tv in my apartment has an apple tv connected to it and it has no issues going online. same goes with each of the google mini's in each room, no issue, but this one device that i imagined would have no issue, just wouldn't work. the device works outside my apartment in the hall. but i'm not going to use it in the hallway of my building, i want to use it in my apartment. so i wish it did work, i love mario kart and this would of been hella fun. but sadly the wifi from this particular product does not work right, it isn't strong enough so i had to return it.
