What a busy week we've had! With a Nintendo Direct, our very own Nintendo Life Indie Spotlight presentation, and plenty of exciting goings-on in the world of Nintendo, we're all feeling pretty exhausted. What better time, then, to sit back and chat about what we'll be playing over the weekend?
Members of Nintendo Life have done just that below (and yes, Mario 3D All-Stars is mentioned a lot), and we'd love for you to join in via our poll and comment sections. Enjoy!

Yes, I've played them all before, and yes, I really didn't need to buy it, but I just couldn't help myself. Super Mario 3D All-Stars arrived yesterday and I plan to absolutely smother myself in Super Mario Sunshine goodness this weekend.
Sunshine was my first ever 3D Mario experience – Super Mario 64 just passed me by as I got into gaming towards the end of the N64's life – so it holds a special place in my nostalgia loving heart. I've played Mario 64 quite recently, and with Galaxy being slightly newer than the others, I feel like Sunshine's the best place to start for me.
I'm just really, really hoping that I still love it now as much as I did as a kid. There's nothing worse than replaying an old favourite and realising, 'yeah, this sucks actually.' I'm sure it'll be great! Have a good one!

It’s an odd one, this weekend. I know what I should be playing, but honestly a part of me begrudges redeeming my last remaining Game Voucher on Super Mario 3D All-Stars. Of course I’ll be getting it before it disappears off the eShop, but I’ve got so much else to play and the collection's merely ‘adequate’ remaster treatments means I’ll probably hold off for a while.
I started the excellent Rogue Legacy the other evening (which may well leach all my weekend gaming time), but I’m also gagging to play Hades and Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Prior to this week’s surprise drop, received wisdom suggested it was too colossal a task to optimise the gorgeous Xbox One game for Switch. Yet here it is, and apparently all 60 fps of it!

In its lamentable absence from Super Mario 3D All-Stars, I've been plugging away at Super Mario Galaxy 2 in an attempt to finally finish it after about thirty arrested attempts to see it through. I've also dropped my last two game vouchers on the upcoming Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity; the latter being the sequel to a game I have bought on three formats and poured hundreds of hours into it while achieving approximately 8% completion.
I've also been playing through Earthworm Jim 2's excellent SNES incarnation via the rather lovely Evercade. Soon, I'll be looking into the recently translated Ganbare Goemon titles - between plugging away at reviews for Nintendo Life, that is.

Rejoice for I am back! It has been quite a while since I wrote one of these.
I shall begin a “New Hero Journey” with Furano MS in Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions. Assuming I can stray away long enough from both Inertial Drift and Hotshot Racing, I also want to spend some more time with Hades and Super Punch Patrol (those extra costumes won’t unlock themselves), replay the demo of Hardcore Mecha a few dozen times and round up with Fight Crab lobster for dessert.
I shall cheat with my game of the week award by unsurprisingly picking Super Mario 3D All-Stars. However, the lack of Super Mario Galaxy 2 is an annoying itch I can’t seem to stop scratching… Glad I still keep my Wii hooked up… They still sell AA batteries, right?

Hello. This weekend my plan was to get stuck deep into Super Mario 3D All-Stars. I’ve never played Sunshine so was absolutely looking forward to getting started with that one, however, Nintendo decided to drop a bunch of other really cool stuff at this week’s Indie Direct so I’m now having a Hades-flavoured couple of days instead. It’s a tough job, dodging and hacking through the worst the underworld can throw at me, but I guess someone’s got to do it.
Elsewhere I’ve also grabbed Ori and the Will of the Wisps, which I’ve already beaten but simply must play again in handheld, and am making my way through Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 in order to get my review up in time for launch next week. Have a good weekend whatever you are playing and stay safe out there!

THIS WEEKEND I AM PLAYING ALL THINGS SUPER MARIO 3D ALL-STARS AND THAT'S ABOUT IT. YOU CAN'T MAKE ME PLAY ANYTHING ELSE. I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING ELSE TO SAY. SUPER MARIO GALAXY IS MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN ODYSSEY AND I CRIED THE FIRST TIME I PLAYED IT, SUE ME. BYE. ... [Is everything OK, Austin? — Ed.]
As always, thanks for reading! Make sure to leave a vote in the poll above and a comment below with your gaming choices over the next few days...

Mostly playing through Nelke & the Legendary Alchemists at the moment. Playing a little Kemono Friends Picross here and there as well as the new DLC songs in Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Mega Mix. Downloaded Hades and would like to find time to give that a go soon and I’ll spare a few hours at some point to play through Grisaia Phantom Trigger 04.
Mario 3D All Stars. Picked up a copy yesterday (no pre-order just went into Argos) as well as continuing Xenoblade 2.
I have my whole Autumn laid out for me, gaming wise.
This week I will be mostly playing
Mario 64
Playing...
ORI AND THE WILL OF THE WISPS
First and foremost, what was i thinking not picking this up for windows?!😁, Okay i am giving this game a 10/10 should've been a 13/10 however, to not defile logic will keep it at a 10 and anything less than a 10 will be a sacrilege 😁.
Going through the eShop i saw this game, didn't occur to me it was announced at the partner showcase, due to a very busy day at work, so I immediately purchased the game, boy was i right! It over exceeded my expectations in regards to ori and the blind forest that i felt was lacking in some areas of the game. THIS ONE IS ON CRACK, everything good about the last entry is more refined in this new iteration and more added, i am in love with the environments🥰
However, it's a deeply emotional storytelling that is enjoyable to follow through, this sequel takes place immediately after the events of Blind Forest and is narrated by the Spirit Tree in the forest of Niwen as i have seen so far.
Won't add any spoiler. If you haven't played it yet! I advise you to do.
Quick question: what is your take on this game in comparison to blind forest? and also would like to see your ratings for this sequel?
may chip in to 3D all stars if ori permits me😅. A long weekend for me.
Yakuza 0 on PC - what a freaking masterpiece. Another game which I started is Luigis Mansion 2. Gosh, I love this serie. Have a beautiful weekend everyone!
It’s my son’s birthday so I will mainly be playing multiple parties (split for rule of 6) and then watching my son play 3D All-Stars when all the kids have gone home.
He’s super excited to play the games I enjoyed as a kid/teen and I’m excited to watch him and share my memories.
Saturday morning is for chilling in Animal Crossing. Got an email from the local store that there is a copy of 3D All Stars waiting for me which I plan on picking up after lunch. Might play some of that. Also hope to make a little progress in Dragon Quest XI and maybe work through a retro game on NSO.
Hades. The Long Dark. Crosscode.
Can't wait to get stuck in.
Ghost of Tsushima
Mario Galaxy
Hades
Mario, Mario and Mario, 30 stars so far on Mario 64 but I've tried all 3 and they all look great, Galaxy in particular looks amazing. Having a brilliant time with these, probably the most fun I've had all year
Mario 3D All Stars of course, starting with Sunshine and it's soooo good! Bit of Tony Hawk on PS4 as well.
Was excited for Mario 3D but sunshine’s controls aren’t such a
kac-handed mess.
It’s very evident when you play the three titles that Galaxy is such a stand out title.
This weekend I will be playing Super Mario 64.
Mario Sunshine. It's a lot more weird and janky than I remember.
Working my way through 3D all stars, starting with Mario 64
Mario Sunshine first, never played it. It is remarkable good for its age. But, that said, I am spoiled playing more modern games. I just finished my second boss.
Just finished Sayonara Wild Hearts this past week, great game, but short. I loved the music so much I bought the soundtrack.
Lonely mountains Downhill continues to impress me and I am only in the 3rd area. It is a game that I can play levels multiple times trying to do different things.
And, of course, Mr. K.K. Slider will be playing tonight.
Happy gaming everyone!
I'm afraid I grew out of Mario long ago so I'll be focusing on my survival strategy on Windbound some more. Love this game!
@Rpg-lover Like you, I am so excited about Will of the Wisps, I almost exploded when I saw it on the direct. Blind Forest is so good, after finishing it, I spent hours simply traveling around the environments to enjoy the scenery. I want to clear a couple games before I dive in, so I can really focus and enjoy. But I am glad to hear your rave reviews!
Very little as I've had to pickup extra shifts due to other staff being off sick. If my kids give me some peace today I'll play either Doom 2016 on Switch or Odin Sphere Leifthrasir on PS4.
Animal Crossing New Horizons & Ochaken no Heya 4 NDS this morning.
I have accumulated more than 490 hours for ACNH.
At this point i started to reduce my gameplay hours of ACNH as i felt the burnt out feeling by keep farming other color variant of furnitures from Redd.
Still waiting for Fall update on October 2020.
Super Mario 64. I started it last night. I last played it in '98, and I'm amazed how much of it I remember! Running around the Bob-Omb Battlefield again is such an amazing feeling. Am really looking forward to going through Big Boo's Haunt again... that was my favourite! 😆
Super Mario 3D All-Stars and Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate for me!
@charlieonholiday also got mine from Argos without pre-order so no reason to be stung by scalpers.
Had a quick go on Galaxy as it was freshest in my mind to compare but I find the gyro Wiimote IR pointer replacement to be frustrating as it seems to take the starting position of the controller and base everything after on that so if you're holding it funny initially it can be difficult to find the pointer on screen.
Then I jumped back to 64 and will go through them in order.
About to start No No Kuni.
@dugan glad we're on the same page based on love for will of the wisps🙂.
There's no other choice for me this weekend, and probably for quite a few weekends to come. Absolutely chuffed to bits that Super Mario 3D All-Stars is out and in my Switch.
Looking at the graphic comparison above definitely tell me I value gameplay over graphics because I don't see a difference
It's mainly the Mario collection for me, but I have also hooked up my Wii so I can play some old Gamecube games, maybe some Wind Waker or F-Zero!
Super Mario Galaxy on Switch
Marvel's Spiderman on PS4
That is all I think.
Not the lazy cashgrab sneaky tactics Mario collection mess port 😁.
Hades
The lone dark
Fightcrab
Inertial drift
Super punch patrol
Walking dead a new frontier 😁
I'm also feeling like restarting Galaxy on the WiiU
All Stars
All Stars 3D
Hotshot Racing
Oddworld Munches Odyssey
Planned on just 3D All Stars until I saw Will of the Wisps. Now trying to juggle both somehow.
Super Mario 3D All-Stars, when my copy arrives... It's apparently expected to be arriving within the next hour or so according to Amazon....
Some 3D All Stars but probably mostly Persona 5. Just about to hit November.
3D All Stars is a nice collection, but 64 and Sunshine are a lot older feeling than I expected. Galaxy looks and runs great so that's probably where I'll spend most of my time. I don't think there's anything wrong with the other two, I think for me it's more that I have no nostalgia for 64 and Sunshine having missed them the first time around. In general I do think they've taken the right approach for fans of the originals. If I had played them 20 years ago I'd be wanting to play the exact same games I remembered.
Trying to complete RE3 remake. Not as well received as RE2 but am liking it almost as much. Got to try Astral Chain again after not being impressed when purchased. Probably should not have played DMC5 first.
Some dragon's dogma and watching the other half on her playthrough of links awakening.
All about XB1 this weekend, I'll save 3D All Stars for next week.
Transistor, loving it. The music, style, mix of action and strategy. Also some darkest dungeon, but ipad instead of switch.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Black Eagles - Part 2 - First full month. Trying to get units ready for master classes. Hitting the level cap soon but missing skill points.
Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc
Finished the game last week. Started school mode yesterday.
Toki Tori
Finished Hana Samurai so I moved onto something different. Continuing from where I left off years ago.
Super Mario Bros. 2
I've never actually beaten SMB2 so I thought I'd try to do it this time. My favorite memory of this game is when I found the warp in 1-3 that takes you to world 4 by accident when I was young. I used to skip worlds 2 and 3 completely because of that so this time I'm doing all levels.
I would also be playing 3D All-Stars but my copy didn't arrive yet.
Mario 3D All-Stars (Galaxy) with the kids and Dragon Quest VIII without.
Two of the most charming grin inducing games possible 😊
Mario 64 😁 Just raced Koopa The Quick, slid down the ice slide and scaled Thwomp's Fortress and having a blast!
I'm playing the 3 games to completion in order and especially looking forward to Galaxy as I've never played it before.
Ori and the Will of Wisps, of course! The best game of the month.
Incredible game so far (around 5 hours in), everyone should play it!
I just finished up Super Paper Mario yesterday, and moved onto Super Mario Galaxy. 3D All-Stars came along at the perfect time for me. Here's to hoping we get Galaxy 2 at some point also.
While I had originally planned to play the Mario vs. Donkey games beyond the first one on GBA, I've found that the style of the sequels just doesn't really interest me. So I skipped Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2 and will most likely skip all the others as well.

Hades is an excellent rogue. Best I’ve played since Gungeon or Isaac, and possibly better than either. Devs even tossed in a “God Mode” to help those that don’t like / don’t do well with rogue-lite games, and it doesn’t block or prevent anything. Just gives ya a small 2% Damage Reduction in every death, capping at 80%. Can be turned on/off at will.
Also playing Wasteland 2, Death and Taxes, and Mario 64.
Super Mario 3D All-Stars will be the main focus but I'll also probably play a bit of Streets of Rage 4 which has been one of my most played games since it launched.
So I’m playing Super Mario 64 and having a lot of fun. With that said WOW are those controls fluffy 🙈🤣 so frustrating at times, and proof we have come a long way. Still, it’s good fun and I got goosebumps when I heard Mario welcome me in again 😍
My plan was to play Mario 64 in the 3D All Stars Collection this weekend (I still have played a little though), but Ori and the Will of the Wisps is going to completely dominate my time. I'm absolutely stunned at how gorgeous this game is. There is no better looking game on the Switch, in my opinion. I may also slip in a few rounds of Hotshot Racing, or a bit of Adventure Pals with my wife. I also beat that Train boss in Cuphead last night, so I'm making my way through it inch by inch over a very long stretch of time.
I’m playing super Mario 64 and my sons playing super Mario Galaxy.
@CairiB I find the controls fine. The camera can get confusing though! I can't figure out when I should use Lakitu cam and when I should use Mario cam (zoomed out)
Just got my 40th power star on Mario 64 and working towards all 120, then it'll be Sunshine and finally ending with Galaxy.
I’ll be playing Super Mario 64 on my shiny new ESRB E cart- oh wait, no, it’s that tiny logo there (squints) ah yes, Super Mario 3D All Stars. 😅
I haven’t played SM64 since the year it was released, and never beat it (sold my N64) before graduating college and moving to Japan) so now’s my chance. Still I don’t like the notable absence of Luigi!
But what’s this about a demo for Hardcore Mecha?? I didn’t see one before, but I’ve only looked in the Japan e-shop.
Edit: Ooooh, now I see I should’ve watched the Jpn version of the Direct Mini this week for the Hardcore Mecha news. Def will download that demo! That could certainly tempt me away from SM64 this weekend.
Waaaay too much gaming goodness out there lately - I basically play only Switch and still can’t remotely keep up with releases! 😅
Playing Super Mario Galaxy. Also just grabbed the N. Sane Trilogy. So I still haven't decided what to play After I finish Galaxy (hopefully today), Mario Sunshine or Crash 1.
Dual playing mario 64 and galaxy
Question to those that are playing Mario 64: have they improved the controls and the camera?? Or is it exactly the same as in the 64 era?
Leisurely going through Yoshi's Island; not desperate to collect everything unless I fancy unlocking the apparent bonus levels later, but I still appreciate how this is the first Mario flagship that lets you explore levels without a time limit (I don't count the dolled-up SMB2). Warframe has seen me make some story progress as well, between finally reaching and beating (okay, shamelessly cheesing with Hydroid Prime with barely a shot fired, but still😅) the final boss in Sands of Inaros, then starting the Natah quest which promises to start a string of the game's most thrilling plot twists and spoilers.
So the odds of doing some more progress in both titles are the highest for the weekend, but I still consider dedicating some time to the other usual suspects and even to Starlink I resumed again this week. I've even ramped up my laptop activity again as of late (a gluttonous diet there as well, from Steam-based GTA 4, FFXIII and Grid 2 to GOG-based Witcher, HuniePop and OG HoMM), but that's probably beside the point here - I don't usually take that machine out on weekends.
Super Mario All 3D ..
I actually started playing zelda all over again on switch. Finished it on WiiU, but somehow i felt the need to clear it 100% lol.
And smashbros, my alltime favorite game.
Taking a stroll down memory lane with the new 3D collection. I've started Mario 64, and I'm having a blast! I'm even using the original guide I used when I was 6
@Clyde_Radcliffe I just find Mario a little weightless if that makes sense compared to controlling characters in more modern titles. He can be a bit all over the place until you get used to it again.
@the_beaver feels pretty much as it was
ACNH and A Short Hike for sure. Still need to finish Child of Light too.
Galaxy 2 Wii U eShop edition ; )
Super Mario 3D All-Stars. Of course, because I was lazy, I let the scalpers win, so I bought two eShop cards, just to buy the game digitally. Just because I am forced to take games to the Digital Age doesn't mean I DIG-IT-ALL like Strong Bad does with viewing ASCII-art movies on his Lappy!
3D All-Stars of course! Doing a Sunshine run - since I never played it - and trying not to play 2 of them at the same time, because I’m kind of anxious to play Galaxy again. Then, sprinkle some Aragami hunting in from God Eater 3. I’m digging it so much more than when I played the first GE on PSP!
Animal Crossing, Streets of Rage 4, and Fight N Rage on Switch. Road Rash 2 on Sega Genesis Mini.
I'm playing assassin's creed 3 and streets of rage 4
Mario Galaxy 2......
Super Mario 3D Allstars, of course. I've got only about 5 stars/shines in each game. It's a lot of fun playing three of my favorite games in unison.
I got 50 stars on 64 only yesterday so I might see if I can beat the game today
It's aged horrifically but, I can't allow Nintendo's inability to fix broken games to get in the way of my enjoyment
This weekend is Yakuza 0 and Dragon Quest VII time for me...
@CairiB Damn it... Ok, thanks.
I've just finished connecting the Wii up to the TV again - that random box of cables that we've all got somewhere did me proud. Super Mario Galaxy here I come!
Like most people I'm sure, I'll be making my way through Super Mario 3D All-Stars this weekend. To be more specific though, I'll be playing Super Mario 64 today, followed by playing Super Mario Galaxy tomorrow.
Playing Super Mario 64, but the version I bought years ago on my Wiiu and never played haha! I'm finding the early levels are tons of fun, but as the game goes on its getting less so...
I'm jumping between West Of Loathing and The Takeover. Should finish both this weekend. Then I will start Undertale.
Was planning to play Sunshine as I've waited so long but had a change of heart and decided to play the games on chronological order. Currently about 66 stars deep into Mario 64
This weekend I'm playing Ori and the Will of the Wisps, and Super Mario 3D All-stars. Both are amazing games that I totally recommend!
Also I'm playing Mario Galaxy 2 on my WiiU. I'm still trying to collect all the green stars!!
@Marxally Exactly what I was going to say! What a combination, eh?
Haven't played Mario 64 since it came out. Replaying it is making me realize just how bad at video games I was when I was 6.
Got all 120 stars on 64 within about 13 hours of receiving my copy of 3D All-Stars lol, so made a start on Sunshine - at 38 Shines so far. Might begin on Galaxy as well.
Been playing Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn for the first time in quite some time, currently in Part 4 Chapter 3 starting to near the endgame. I've really been getting into it the last few days and have been making some rapid progress.
I’ll probably be on Mario sunshine. I canceled my amazon preorder and found it at GameStop yesterday. For anyone having trouble finding one id check there. It’s the only place in my town I could find it and they had a lot. Hades looks interesting as well, but I haven’t picked it up yet. I already beat ori 2 on my Xbox but for those that haven’t, it’s a game that’s worth your time and money. Super game.
@Kit grew out of mario?!
@Expa0 must've cost a small fortune to play radiant dawn... I hear it's worth it but that much on a game for me is not worth it.
WWE 2K BATTLEGROUNDS
Very fun AND funny. Self awareness is always welcome. Even looks and runs good, which is not a given considering it is Unreal Engine.
SUPER ROBOT WARS V
Just got it last night. Pretty amazing mixture of basically too much things at once that should not work, but somehow manage to do anyway.
The music and animations make me just grin like an idiot the whole time.
Was looking for a game after I finished Langrisser I & II multiple times and just burned out on it. A lot of people recommended Fire Emblem 3H, which is fine, but could not keep me involved and interested after 20h in. SRW V knocks it out of the park though. And I don't even care about Mechas.
BREATH OF FIRE (NSO)
Well if one game could use a speed up function it's this one. Faster walking to be precise.
Apart from that I am really having a great time. 10h in so far (5 of them walking).
For some reason I can immerse myself way more in these older games then current ones. And I don't even have nostalgia for it. It is my first time playing it.
Also the music on the over world map is just 👌.
@LilMuku not to be rude but I believe this game aged remarkably well. I haven't played this game in years until a week ago at a friends and it just felt so good even with galaxy. It may not be as good as sunshine and galaxy but it is easily a VERY good game even today
I'm surprised NintendoLife didn't include Monster Hunter GU in the list to coincide with MHRise's announcement!
Finally beginning a proper play-through of Generations Ultimate after the hype of Rise. It's perfect that I've waited until now in fact, because it will be the ideal slow burn leading up to March.
Of course, Rise also makes me want to dip back into Iceborne on PS4 while I wait. HD Fatalis and Alatreon are calling my name!
Also considering pulling the trigger on Min Min in SSBU. She's such a great character and I'm itching to hear that ARMS music again (without having to buy ARMS of course).
I just beat Super Mario Bros. 3 for the first time.
@rdm22 Getting ready for October 1st eh?
@Yanina Ha! Indeed. I have a rigorous training regimen in place to prepare myself for the competition, clearly.
Pretty obvious but SM3D Allstars and Ys VIII if I break away
For the first time, Super Mario Sunshine. I'm having a blast.
I spent the last ten days preparing for this moment.
I finished Tales of the Abyss and then quickly played Ducktales Remastered (PC), DK Country (SNES online), Shantae Half-genie hero (Switch) and Kirby's Adventure (NES online).
I didn’t expect my 3D Allstars game to arrive so quickly ( GameStop never ships on release unless you pay for it!) I should finish up Murder by Number first... My plan is to finish up MbN first but there’s been a dramatic difficulty spike in the second part so the puzzles are taking much longer than before. Makes me nervous about the next parts! Anybody else experience this? I started playing on regular difficulty mode but seriously considering trying to change it 😅
Never played Galaxy before so am really enjoying it right now. Not sure what the original looked like, but the Switch version is gorgeous
And in between Galaxy I may try out Hades. Heard so many great things about it
Still working my way through the Future Connected epilogue of Xenoblade Chronicles. I THINK I'm close to the home stretch and am trying to wrap up some side quests before continuing. I've been enjoying my time with it and really like both Kino and Nene, but they just can't replace the rest of the main cast.
On the 3DS front, I'll be starting my first Mario & Luigi game: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions. I figured I'm long past due to wade into this series, and starting at the beginning (technically) makes sense. Besides, Mario's 35th is this month!
I'm still delving into Donkey Kong Country 2 on the Wii U VC every now and again. Some of the musical bars that play in Haunted Hall are from Night On Bald Mountain, or I'm a Kremling.
Finally, Porygon Community Day is this weekend in Pokemon Go, so I'll be participating in that for a little while. At least Shiny Porygon has a flashy design lol.
Happy gaming! Have an awesome weekend!
@Tyranexx Funny you mention Porygon, because on Twitter and Facebook, in their Pokedex number campaign, Pokemon has reached Porygon, and surprisingly enough, they posted no pics of it, because the episode was banned! I hope they reintroduce it in Journeys, so that Ash, maybe even Goh can catch it, and evolve it. At least it'll be out of the Prototype phase.
I'll be continuing on in Anodyne. I'm hoping I can beat it sooner than later this weekend. If so, I'm probably going to get back to Gone Home.
Botw, Overwatch and fortnite!
@YoshiAngemon Ah yes, the infamous Electric Soldier Porygon episode. The one that put a lot of Japanese children in the hospital due to causing seizures and was banned from airing everywhere else. I do hope they properly show Porygon in the anime at some point; it's one of the more interesting Pokemon IMO. If they do properly introduce it in Journeys, I bet Goh will catch it.
Mario 3D All Stars, of course. Out of the games on it, Galaxy is the best and looks like a Switch game. Sunshine is beautiful too, but it's not my favorite Mario game, even if it isn't as bad as some people think. Mario 64 has aged a bit in some negative ways with the awkward camera angles and some other annoyances like talking to people in the game.
I also downloaded Ori and The Will of the Wisps and am very tempted to get Hades. Suddenly, there are a ton of great new titles for the Switch to play.
Never mind I still have to finish Pikmin 3, which I started on my Wii U.
Decisions, decisions...
I'm going to be playing 3d all stars and dbfz.
Earthworm Jim 2? For real? 😆
Mario Sunshine on GameCube, Duke Nukem 3D on Switch, Stunt Car Racer on Atari ST with my new Quickshot joystick!
PS4 — Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Alpha
Switch — Super Mario Sunshine
Mario 3D All Stars for me this weekend. It’s awesome to have these games on the switch and playing them in handheld mode is nice. Not sure what else I‘ll play. I’ve really wanted to play some 3DS lately so I might boot some game up on it.
@Ghostchip
I bought the game back when it was still new in stores so nope, not really.
Ghost of Tsushima xx surprised myself thought would be Mario! Xxx
Othercide
Thronebreaker
PSO2
maybe WWE 2K Battlegrounds but I want to wait for the price to go down but I'm not sure how long a wait that will be.
I will mainly be driving my BMW a lot and listening to music from Outrun
Believe it or not most of my playtime this weekend has been Mini Motor Racing X https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/mini-motor-racing-x-switch/
I'm not going to try to oversell it. It's not amazing, but it's competent and I'm having fun with career mode, online races (if others are online, occassionally there are 1-2 others online), and doing some time trials. Since it's new, I've got some global leader board times for some races and time trials - user SpaceDandy. Wanna crush my times? Maybe you can 🤪 (I've also got some top 3 spots in Hotshot Racing jungle tracks time trials)
Also playing Mario 3D All-Stars, and some Rocket League.
@the_beaver I had forgotten how bad the camera controls were in Super Mario 64 but Nintendo never changed anything in 3D Allstars. It's really frustrating at times.
3D Allstars for me, have 71 stars and want to collect all 120 by the end of this weekend. Have already done Tick Tock Clock and Rainbow Ride to get them out of the way (they can be frustrating due to camera controls).
@Expa0 I figured now it's like 500 dollars I swear...
@the_beaver exactly the same aside from the camera and cannon controls being inverted for some reason
Fallout 3 (Games For Windows) - Finally beat the game early this morning.
Flowerz (Windows Phone) - My current time waster game.
Secrets and Treasure: The Lost Cities (Windows Phone) - Thank goodness that this is nearly over now
Hades is soooo good such a beautiful game! Fun as hell!!
Playing Super Mario 3D All Stars. Acquired a few stars in each game to sample everything. Started to play Sunshine as my first which felt significantly better than the original GC version but Galaxy was too tempting and too excellent to ignore so settled in for the long haul on that game.
Really want to have a very long play of Sunshine though as it's the Mario platformer that I have played the least as I enjoyed it the least in the past. This done up, HD version seems real fun to me though
@MeloMan I picked up Anodyne a while back but haven't played it at all yet. How are you getting on with it? I'm excited to start that, I just want to finish a couple of other things first.
Bought All Stars but haven't even had a tickle to play it yet. Having too much fun with Fall Guys (Ps4). Also messing around with a great new programmable controller I got for Fortnite (Ps4). Recently made the jump to Ps4 Pro for Fortnite after becoming too frustrated with it on Switch.
@backup368 I would expect to see a significant price drop around Black Friday for the WWE Battlegrounds game. I’m at the point in the year where if I can hold on on a game purchase until then I will ( only like 2 months!). I bought Overwatch ( Switch) at launch last year and 1 month later it’s almost 1/2 off 😓... I personally hate that..
Damn I need Hades
I'm playing gravity rider. I cleared it in 2hours now I'm just trying to unlock all the upgrades. It was a bargain for 1 euro.
Paper Mario: Origami King is in my cross hairs. I'm a good ways into the fifth world, and having a ball. Planning to backtrack for the collectibls near the end, but I also want to make sure I don't rush through everything. I'm ready to finish up, but I want to make sure I have fun
Got my 2DS back after repairs a while ago, and I'm finally getting back into grinding through the backlog. I'm enjoying Picross 3D 2, and the new use of coloring blocks adds more depth than I expected. A solid sequel. Just need to avoid getting obsessive about finishing puzzles again XD
Getting my shipment of 3D All Stars soon, so I'll probably hop into Sunshine first when I get it. Loved that game as a kid, and I want to see how it feels after all this time. I also want to check if I've got nostalgia goggles for it, especially since I never got around to trying to 100% it.
I'm really enjoying Mario 3D All Stars even though I wish all 3 games ran at 60fps (that is one patch I would be super thrilled to see Ninty release!). Also enjoying Ninja JaJamaru Collection, Namcot Collection (M2's PacMan Championship 8-bit game is incredibly fun, awesome music!), Batu ta Batu, Mario Maker 2 (love the new ninji course), Hot Shot Racing, Tony Hawk 1 + 2, Wipeout Omega Collection (oh my god I hope Sony releases an Alpha collection with the first 3 games' tracks remade running at 60 or even 120fps on PS5!), Turmoil, and Journey of the Broken Circle. And Rocket League.
I'm taking what would have been a nice break from World of Tanks to try out World of Warships: Legends on XBox due to the Transformers collab. Then I find out there aren't any earnable awards at all! (unlike the Arpeggio of Blue Steel collab I did on PC a few years back) Worse, it's $40 for each of the 4 Transformer Commanders + ship skin, yikes! And if you're feeling lucky, you can try the loot crates for about $3 a pop! Nope, not gonna tempt me!...Now if they had Peter Cullen and Frank Welker doing the voices for Optimus Prime and Megatron instead, well...I probably wouldn't be getting the Astro City mini on launch.
Skyward Sword. About 40-something hours into it now, working my way through the Fire Sanctuary. I miss dungeons like these - hope we get some like these in the new Zelda.
Playing all three games on SM3DAS, although I have only played Galaxy a bit up to now. Already looking forward to 3D World and I should definitely pick up Odyssey very soon!
PS4- Spongebob Battle of Bikini Bottom
Playing Bug Fables, while I'm waiting for Mario 3D All Stars to arrive (Thanks Amazon.)
@Ghostchip I took off the nostalgia goggles for it tbh
The controls are passable, but the textures are dated, the camera controls are horrific, and It's glitchy as hell
@PapaMurphy It's a Zelda-like, self aware, quirky kind of game. I'm maybe 1/3 through it. The dialogue is funny at times too. It just seems like a chill game to play in between meatier adventures.
Literally just finished a 120 stars SM 64 . This game is absolute perfection. Now let's go finish the other two for the first time ever
@MeloMan that's exactly what I'm saving it for. Cheers for that mate 👍
I wanted to try Hades. I knew nothing about it, until it was announced during a recent direct. But, I can’t even get through a review without going, “what exactly would I be doing in this game?” For some reason it doesn’t gel with me. I guess that’s a huge sign telling me to not bother. 🤷🏾♂️ I’ll continue to play Okami!
@LilMuku yeah, but in my opinion its still a fantastic game. You can have your opinion, but compared to other 3d platformers of the n64, it has aged incredibly well and no matter its issues is still a absolute joy to play for most. My friend played it for the first time ever at my house and had a blast. Now, has it aged better than every other game on n64? No banjo definitely aged better along with other titles, but it still remains one of the better titles to play even when compared to new releases due to it's simple yet fluid controls and interesting levels. Heck I say it's better than a large amount of new releases. Now since mario has constantly improved since entering 3d, I'd say it does seem worse than say galaxy oddessy and sunshine, but is definitely very close to the quality of those games in terms of the fun to be had. I would say most new releases are not as good as this game, and although a lot of games are better than this one it still stacks up to modern releases in how fun it truly is.
And the textures are horrible? It's a n64 game and the textures were definitely meant to be as charming as possible even when they looked outdated and because of this they actually hold up quite nicely due to the silly nature of them. The glitches also never bogged down the experience and although they exist they aren't really annoying enough to bring this game down (heck sunshine is one of my favorites and glitches certainly bring it down more than 64 because they are just way more noticeable and hindering while 64s is just kind of you got stuck on something for 2 seconds out of the last hour of playtime) this is all obviously just my opinion and not facts (of course) and you are entitled to what you think, but I'm sure quite a bit of people agree with me here.
@outsider83 With the risk of being downvoted,
I own Hades on PC, I have beaten 1 boss in my first runs, so
my own opinion is that while being very well made, it's just a roguelite game.
You just fight on small maps and that's it. You unlock some perks and modifiers for your weapons or abilities, but that's it. If you don't like roguelites or just action games, maybe you better stay clear of it.
@liverpoolvk ok. After seeing your reply, I’ll put it in the maybe pile: I’ve never played this type of game, but I did grow up loving action games like Streets of Rage and X-Men Legends. Between reading the names of characters, descriptions of how the battles and mechanics work, the heart of the game and the writers own sauce put on reviews, I was left feeling....🤷🏾♂️
