We're only a few weeks away from Tokyo Game Show 2021, which will be held as an online-only event this year starting on 30th September. Several publishers have now confirmed their attendance, including Square Enix.
As revealed in the event's preliminary schedule, Square's lineup will be of particular note to Nintendo fans thanks to the inclusion of Project Triangle Strategy, an upcoming Switch exclusive that serves as a successor to Octopath Traveler. The title will be shown alongside several others, as seen below (thanks, RPGSite):
- Project Triangle Strategy
- Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin
- Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy
- Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier
- Final Fantasy XIV
- NEO: The World Ends With You
- Bravely Default II
- Outriders
Project Triangle Strategy was first revealed for Switch back in February, and while we haven't had many updates since then, we do already know that the game is aiming to offer around 50 hours of gameplay.
Other publishers now confirmed for this year's Tokyo Games Show include Xbox, Capcom, Bandai Namco, Sega, Konami, and 505 Games. Xbox will kick off the event on 30th September, with Square Enix's show following the day after.

I’ll be watching!
Wish they show more of the Dragon Quest III HD 2D remake.
Awesome can't wait
I played the demo and loved it, can't wait to see more of it
Can’t wait for updates on “2,5D Turn Based Role Playing Game Project 2”
Bravely Default II, Outriders and NEO TWEWY are already released, weird that they're present. Maybe Bravely Default II and NEO TWEWY are getting Xbox/Playstation ports meanwhile Outriders gets DLC?
About time to see more! One of my most anticipated games for Switch next year. Let's also hope we see more of those Dragon Quest that look so good!
Although I was pretty dissapointed with octopath traveler, I still I'm quite excited for PTS.
Been waiting for a good srpg since FE3H.
I’m thrilled about this. I loved the demo. It was an improvement on Octopath, in my opinion.
I'm already sold on the game, but it's always nice to see more of it!
I hope it takes place in the same world as Octopath, but I am not holding my breath.
While I have outgrown the genre, I am still getting it, because it is as close as I can get to reliving some of my fondest gaming memories.
why Square Enix is showing Neo: the World Ends with You at TGS 2021? is the game no longer a Switch exclusive... oh wait it released on PS4 too.
Looking forward to triangle strategy. Really enjoyed the demo.
@Grumblevolcano NEO TWEWY is already released on PlayStation 4. Idk about Xbox but it could happen
@anoyonmus Oh yeah, I meant Xbox/PC for NEO TWEWY.
I’ve fallen behind on SRPGs recently. I realised I haven’t played any for a while, so it would be good to get back into them. I should really play the Fire Emblem, Super Robot Wars, Disgaea and Final Fantasy Tactics games in my backlog before buying more perhaps.
Kinda funny that Bravely Default II is one of the games getting showcased. I just picked that up for $30 from Amazon.
@Grumblevolcano it has been announced for PC. No release date yet
I wonder if they'll eventually come up with a better name. I mean it's kinda known as Triangle Strategy now and it's not like bizarre but vaguely descriptive names aren't a think with Square Enix. Octopath? Bravely Default? Triangle Strategy? Sure.
I'd call it Final Fantasy Tactics: The Triad War. Or FFT4, just make it part of the FFT series is what I'm getting at.
Hopefully Capcom’s showings will be better than that dumpster fire of an E3 presentation. Don’t have high expectations for this show either way seeing how lame E3 and Gamescom were IMO..
They should have Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster for Switch too. Like seriously.
@Grumblevolcano They are being showcase cause they are also coming to PC and/or phones. Those at the expo are the PC or phone versions of those games.
Triangle Strategy is exactly what I want.
Bravely Default II needed to be more HD2D for my tastes. The franchise set itself apart with its old-school feel and hand drawn backgrounds; BDII and presumably its future iterations are veering too far away from that in my opinion.
