Atlus has posted a new trailer for 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim while announcing that pre-orders for the upcoming Switch version are now live.
Vanillaware's acclaimed side-scrolling adventure game is launching on Switch on 12th April and if you're at all interested in its sci-fi tale — or have heard good things elsewhere — you may want to check out pre-orders, as available from all the usual suspects — your Amazons, your Best Buys, your GameStops (we'll add some links below when we have them).
Priced at $59.99, pre-ordering the physical version of the game (the Standard Edition, at least) makes you eligible for bonus art cards, too, if that's your thing. While supplies last, naturally.
Let us know below if you plan on picking this up on Switch, or if you've played it before elsewhere...

Finally I get the chance to play this game! Can’t wait, I’ve heard so many good things about it.
Glad to see Vanillaware releasing games on a Nintendo system again. I've heard nothing but good things about this.
$59.99? That is awfully expensive. I was hoping at least a $39.99 or $49.99 but nope looks like it is full price.
Looks I won't get it then. Maybe at a deep discount.
Hope the new players love it as much as I did! An absolutely excellent game!
Been waiting for preorders to start popping up for this. Now to figure out where I can get it from.
Nice! I actually tried to preorder at Gamestop 2-3 weeks ago and it wasn't in their system yet.
Also I started playing the demo off of the Japanese e-shop, which lets you transfer your progress to the full version of the game if you buy in April. That demo is Japanese only, in case anybody was wondering. And no guarantee the save file will carry over into the Western release of the full game. Hopefully they'll do a demo on Western eshops too!
13 Sentinels is a game I've wanted to play for years, and I'm thrilled it's coming to Switch, but after trying the demo it is more visual novel than I'm used to. At least the quality seems top-notch, and story and characters interesting enough. I'll still be preordering.
It's neat that Megaton Musashi is quite similar with its overall plot and the story interludes, but the meat of that game is 3rd-person action/battling. In 13 Sentinels my impression is the emphasis is on the story/VN rather than its turn-based tactical defense.
Nice that Vanillaware is still supporting Switch. I'm hoping they port some of their older titles to Switch, Dragpn's Crown, Muramasa, and Odin Sphere were some of the classics I want on the go.
This game is incredible. I actually think it might be best played on Switch, and I wish I had that option when it originally launched.
The graphics look good, but the writing and characters look awful.
Got this on PS4, it’s very good. Probably get this for the Switch as well. As these sort of games are much better on portable consoles.
Fantastic game, got the platinum on PS love Vanillaware titles!
@Specter_of-the_OLED I know that the Switch becoming a port machine is a bit of a meme, but the format of the console makes it the ideal place to play so MANY games. Getting Odin Sphere and Dragons Crown would be amazing.
WTF? What did I just see?
Hell yes...can't wait to get this!
@BenAV All regions are getting a physical release so you could just buy it at a game store.
Oh I forgot about this one. It is going to be a really hard time deciding which games to buy with Triangle Strategy, Kirby, this one and so many others launching soon
Any UK physical?
I want this. But the week or so after Lego Star Wars and Advance Wars? Terrible timing. I'll wait on it
This was one of my favorite games of 2020. One of the best stories ever in a game, the battles are fun but most of them are very easy. Nat-Chan for best girl!
I got this as a gift on PS4 awhile back but when I tried to play it I pretty quickly found myself checking waaaaay out. Know it's apparently supposed to be very good and I am big into visual novels but immediate impressions were that it was firmly not my thing. Probably should give it another shot though.
Couldn't find a german physical so far...
@JustMonika I doubt it'll get a release here. VNs never do.
Hard to justify the price if you have a PS4.
support this amazing game
