Re: Townscaper Is An Idyllic Toy-Like Game That'll Melt All Your Worries Away

klingki

I have this on Steam. I love it, but it's definitely not for everyone. It's not really a game. You just design a town, admire it while changing lighting and stuff, maybe snap some screenshots, then do it all again. I think it's cool how the game's algorithms determine how to combine and shape buildings as you put them down near each other, and the art style is fantastic. There's even a few special things to figure out as you learn the mechanics and play around with starting your towns on different parts of the map grid. But again, there's no gameplay whatsoever, just designing. I'll probably double-dip, haha.

Re: Ubisoft To Show More Love To Free-To-Play Titles Moving Forward

klingki

Ubisoft was cool for basically paying people to play Hyper Scape a while back. They had a promotion where if you logged in and played even just one game, they would give you a $10 coupon to the Ubisoft store. So I logged in through GeForce NOW and was only able to get into one match that had only three players (including myself). It was me and some other player versus one guy on a team all by himself. But the solo guy was actually really good, and me and my teammate had no idea what we were doing. The solo guy wiped the floor with us. I promptly logged out, collected my $10 coupon, checked out their online store, decided I didn't really want anything from there at the moment, forgot I had the coupon, and then it expired. Re: Nintendo Is Releasing Another Limited Supply Pin Set For Super Mario's 35th Anniversary

klingki

Yeah, I am not looking forward to going through all this again, though hopefully they learned from their mistakes last time and everything will work a little more smoothly this time around. Regardless, I may not even be able to get the pins as by the time my physical pre-order arrives in the mail and they process my claim of the gold coins, it may already be too late. This happened to people with the last set.

Re: The Pokémon Unite Presentation Has Already Been Disliked 150,000 Times

klingki

As others have said, the problem here was giving it a separate presentation and labeling it as a big project. I mean, from the Nintendo/GF/TPC side of things, it probably is a big project, but they have to realize that no one else is gonna really see it that way. They let the anticipation build for a week, and then the first words out of their mouth were "free-to-play," "mobile," and "Tencent." They should have seen the ensuing bloodbath coming from a mile away! Maybe the Tencent stigma isn't as big in Asia as it is in the West, I don't know...

That said, looking at the game in a vacuum, I actually think it looks alright, dare I say pretty good even. I'll be getting it and giving it a shot, but I think it would have gone over much better had it been included in the first presentation.

Re: Nintendo Says It Will Continue To Increase The Appeal Of The Switch Online Service

klingki

They make the same statement about increasing the appeal every year, yet since they claimed they were going to "increase the appeal" last year, all they have done is make the conscious decision to reduce the amount of NES and SNES games being released on the service. That's not very appealing to me. And now they are again saying they're going to keep increasing the appeal? Unless they actually have something big planned that is just taking a long time to implement, I am getting the feeling they don't quite grasp how to handle this service.

Re: Here Are The Switch eShop's Best-Selling Games Of March 2020 (Japan)

klingki

Arc System Works needs to step up their sale game in the US. As an example, Of Mice And Sand was 91% off in Japan? It's been on sale a grand total of 0 times ever in the US, despite being over 2 years old at this point. I don't specifically want or care about that game, but there are a bunch from their library that I would be interested in, even for a moderate sale price.

Re: EB Canada Reminds Us To Set Aside 24 GB For The XCOM 2: Collection On Switch

klingki

I’ve been wondering, if you buy the physical collections or the digital versions of the full collections, is it going to give you one icon and you pick the specific game from a menu within, or is it going to give you separate icons for each individual game? Correct me if I’m wrong (because I don’t have it yet), but I think I read the physical Metro Redux cart plops separate icons for each game on your home screen. If these collections do that too, then at least you might have some flexibility in managing your storage space.

Re: Nintendo Has "No Plans" To Release A New Switch Model This Year

klingki

I’m pretty satisfied with my Switch. Of course, I would buy a “Pro” instantly, but I don’t desperately need it at the moment. Nintendo, take your time, shove the best tech you affordably can in there, and release it when you’re ready (and when it’s been thoroughly quality checked).

Re: The Switch Has Overtaken The SNES In Lifetime Hardware Sales

klingki

So it's halfway to the Wii, and theoretically halfway-ish through its lifespan. Obviously sales are gonna slow down over time, but releasing a "Pro" or some other kind of notable revision would give it a boost (as the Lite did). I'd say it's got an outside shot of catching the Wii, but I'm no analyst, haha.
