I have this on Steam. I love it, but it's definitely not for everyone. It's not really a game. You just design a town, admire it while changing lighting and stuff, maybe snap some screenshots, then do it all again. I think it's cool how the game's algorithms determine how to combine and shape buildings as you put them down near each other, and the art style is fantastic. There's even a few special things to figure out as you learn the mechanics and play around with starting your towns on different parts of the map grid. But again, there's no gameplay whatsoever, just designing. I'll probably double-dip, haha.
Whoever created these character assets are probably rolling in dough. I've seen these same "characters" in like a billion different games from different publishers and developers.
Ubisoft was cool for basically paying people to play Hyper Scape a while back. They had a promotion where if you logged in and played even just one game, they would give you a $10 coupon to the Ubisoft store. So I logged in through GeForce NOW and was only able to get into one match that had only three players (including myself). It was me and some other player versus one guy on a team all by himself. But the solo guy was actually really good, and me and my teammate had no idea what we were doing. The solo guy wiped the floor with us. I promptly logged out, collected my $10 coupon, checked out their online store, decided I didn't really want anything from there at the moment, forgot I had the coupon, and then it expired. Ubisoft 1 - Me 0
Yeah, I am not looking forward to going through all this again, though hopefully they learned from their mistakes last time and everything will work a little more smoothly this time around. Regardless, I may not even be able to get the pins as by the time my physical pre-order arrives in the mail and they process my claim of the gold coins, it may already be too late. This happened to people with the last set.
They also made a pre-order bonus for pre-ording Kombat Pack 2... without any way to actually pre-order it on Switch. So those skins are basically in purgatory if you're a Switch gamer, unless they make them available in some other way.
As others have said, the problem here was giving it a separate presentation and labeling it as a big project. I mean, from the Nintendo/GF/TPC side of things, it probably is a big project, but they have to realize that no one else is gonna really see it that way. They let the anticipation build for a week, and then the first words out of their mouth were "free-to-play," "mobile," and "Tencent." They should have seen the ensuing bloodbath coming from a mile away! Maybe the Tencent stigma isn't as big in Asia as it is in the West, I don't know...
That said, looking at the game in a vacuum, I actually think it looks alright, dare I say pretty good even. I'll be getting it and giving it a shot, but I think it would have gone over much better had it been included in the first presentation.
@Hunt3r_Cr0wl3y You'll most likely be able to link them to your Nintendo account, but I don't think there will be any cross-play involved, similar to how you can't do it with Pokemon Quest. Which is too bad, because having cross-play probably would make me give both this game and Pokemon Quest more of a chance.
@Blooper987 Based on what? The article itself mentions that the game is 2.3 GB (which is not that big all things considered), and people who commented before you who have already played it on Switch said that it looks great. So I'm not sure where you're coming from with that comment.
They make the same statement about increasing the appeal every year, yet since they claimed they were going to "increase the appeal" last year, all they have done is make the conscious decision to reduce the amount of NES and SNES games being released on the service. That's not very appealing to me. And now they are again saying they're going to keep increasing the appeal? Unless they actually have something big planned that is just taking a long time to implement, I am getting the feeling they don't quite grasp how to handle this service.
LOL, this free game about saving money has a $4.99 DLC! Is it a test to see if you were paying attention to the game's message? Like if you buy the DLC it's an insta-gameover, and the game's like "Nope, you don't get it, start again!" haha
As others have said, it's weird that USFII never goes on sale. As far as I can tell, the last time it went on sale in the eShop was summer 2018. And it looks like it only went on sale twice ever!
Also, it doesn't appear that DMC 3 is actually on sale as the article states. Which is too bad because I might have picked it up.
Arc System Works needs to step up their sale game in the US. As an example, Of Mice And Sand was 91% off in Japan? It's been on sale a grand total of 0 times ever in the US, despite being over 2 years old at this point. I don't specifically want or care about that game, but there are a bunch from their library that I would be interested in, even for a moderate sale price.
I’ve been wondering, if you buy the physical collections or the digital versions of the full collections, is it going to give you one icon and you pick the specific game from a menu within, or is it going to give you separate icons for each individual game? Correct me if I’m wrong (because I don’t have it yet), but I think I read the physical Metro Redux cart plops separate icons for each game on your home screen. If these collections do that too, then at least you might have some flexibility in managing your storage space.
I have Pan-Pan, Ringo, and Paper Dolls, but haven't played any of them yet. Button Button Up and Incredible Mandy are on my list, but I'm in no rush, so I'll wait to see if they get even cheaper later.
Anodyne Batman: The Enemy Within Beat Cop Evoland Legendary Edition Goblin Sword Hidden Folks Jettomero Mini Metro Momodora Northgard Old School Musical Plague Inc: Evolved Reventure Reverie: Sweet As Edition Roof Rage Songbird Symphony Super Treasure Arena The Eyes of Ara The First Tree The Stillness of the Wind Wandersong
While the art style has grown on me, and I don't think it looks absolutely terrible, I still wish they would've went in a different direction. Not gonna be a deal-breaker though, I'll still be picking this up.
I feel like I would like these games, but the lack of MLB and MLBPA licensing really dings it for me. I'll keep an eye out and see what kind of sales pop up.
For like the 3 people who have a Google Play Pass subscription, the mobile version of this game is available on that. I haven't tried it out yet though. I feel like Sonic just belongs on console, haha.
I’m pretty satisfied with my Switch. Of course, I would buy a “Pro” instantly, but I don’t desperately need it at the moment. Nintendo, take your time, shove the best tech you affordably can in there, and release it when you’re ready (and when it’s been thoroughly quality checked).
So it's halfway to the Wii, and theoretically halfway-ish through its lifespan. Obviously sales are gonna slow down over time, but releasing a "Pro" or some other kind of notable revision would give it a boost (as the Lite did). I'd say it's got an outside shot of catching the Wii, but I'm no analyst, haha.
This is unexpected but welcome news! I'm pretty surprised that they would actually go through the effort of translating all the Japan-only games, but I'm not complaining!
While it definitely wouldn't be the best way to play them, it would be cool to have Virtual Boy games available to play on the Switch in 2D (similar to the console in this article), and also have Labo VR compatibility.
But yeah, putting them on the 3DS would have been really sweet.
