Re: Three, Yes Three Resident Evil Games Are Headed To Nintendo Switch In 2019

klingki

Besides announcing all the Resident Evil games for Switch, the only thing that could’ve made this announcement better is replacing RE0 with RE2 (doesn’t even have to be the remake, just an HD remaster).

As is stands though, this is awesome. I played RE1 almost to completion on GC, and a bit of RE4 on Wii, and enjoyed both. Never played RE0. I’ll probably pick all three of these up at some point.

All of the different versions and pricings are a little confusing for this game, but I believe there is an FAQ on the Ubisoft website that lays everything out.

From my understanding (and again, please correct me if I’m wrong), you have 3 choices:
Retail - $75 - Comes with Star Fox toys and a minimal amount of other stuff (some of it is download codes).
Digital - $60 - Comes with everything in the retail bundle plus a bunch more, for less money. Of course you don’t get the toys though, which is why it is much cheaper.
Digital deluxe - $80 - Comes with everything that is available at launch, digitally.

Also, I thought I read that the required download is down to about 4 GB now. The 15 GB number came from an earlier build of the game.

I always buy physical when I can, but this is a rare instance where I’ll be opting for digital. The digital deluxe comes with all of the available DLC (correct me if I’m wrong) for $80, whereas the physical is $75 and only comes with the most basic stuff. I’ve got no interest in the toys anyway, so it’s a no-brainer for me.

EDIT: I should add that this is pending reviews. I’m likely to get the game, but I’m not 100% sold on it yet.

Re: Feature: What Do You Want From A New Nintendo Switch?

klingki

Honestly, I don't think a better screen, a better battery, or more internal storage (individually or all together) would be enough to make most current Switch owners upgrade, and I don't think it would really convince someone who held off on buying a Switch to finally get one either. And if a more powerful Switch would be banned from getting exclusives, I think that probably falls in the same boat.

So the only ones that make sense to me are a "Switch Mini" or a cheaper model. Both of these would allow a Switch owner to get a cheaper second console if they needed one, and it would be a good way for non-Switch-owners to be able to play big Nintendo games in a low-cost, low-commitment kind of way.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life eShop Selects - September 2018

Voted for Dust. I was seriously on the fence about buying it, and even after I did, I waited a few days to play it out of fear of being disappointed. Not so! Didn't think this was gonna be my type of game but I ended up loving it way more than the many other games I bought this month!

Re: It Sucks To Say It, But Castlevania Requiem Isn't Coming To Switch

klingki

I was getting ready to roast Konami about this. Castlevania is on everybody's lips these days because of Smash Bros., so then Konami decides to release a Castlevania compilation exclusively for PS4? Didn't make any sense, but then the news of Sony's role in everything explained it all. Regardless, we need some Castlevania on Switch! Maybe Nintendo can get in touch with them like Sony did and work something out of their own.

Re: TowerFall - This Couch Co-Op Classic Is Perfectly Suited To Nintendo Switch

klingki

@mj2k18 I'll second what others have said in that you see a lot of scores in the 7-9 range simply because Switch is getting a ton of great games these days.

Beyond that though, even though NL is reviewing a bunch of games each week, there are just about an equal number of games that they are not reviewing. I recently went through all these games to see if I missed any hidden gems that NL did not review, and aside from a few good looking games like Mini Metro, Old School Musical, and Shikhondo that surprisingly did not get reviews here, most of the unreviewed games looked like the dictionary definition of shovelware. Had those all gotten reviewed as well, I'm sure you'd see a lot more scores in the 5 and under range.

@insidePhil Nice! Was waiting on a review of this one, but that might not happen.

Re: Soapbox: Why I'm Not Excited About Playing NES Games On The Nintendo Switch

klingki

There's not an exact choice on the poll for me. I do want NES games on the Switch, but not really in this way. I would much prefer a Virtual Console-style service with a wider selection of games. Again, I would have no problem paying for these games individually, or even paying a higher yearly rate for a more comprehensive service. But trickling out NES games yet again is nothing to get excited over.

Re: NES Games On Switch Playable For Up To Seven Days Without Internet Connection

klingki

@TheDanslator That’s me exactly except for the last “charge me nothing” part. I’d be willing to pay, and pay handsomely, for a service that added a substantial back catalogue of games from all past Nintendo consoles and handhelds. I’d even be willing to buy all the games I want individually, all over again, for the third or fourth time if I could actually keep them on my Switch and play them forever.

Re: NES Games On Switch Playable For Up To Seven Days Without Internet Connection

klingki

@Crono1973 Well yeah, not saying Nintendo is doing a great job here, just better than I anticipated. As usual, they have a lot of room for improvement. I still miss the Wii’s VC. That was their best retro game service by far. Just do that again with more games from more systems and not as drip-feedy and I’m satisfied. Wishful thinking though.

Re: Nintendo Reveals Upcoming NES Game Releases For Switch Online Service

klingki

Not really pumped about them drip-feeding these games out for the third time now. I know Nintendo likes to constantly "innovate," but with the Virtual Console, I really don't think it was necessary fix what was not broken. If they really wanted to "innovate" with it, how about just releasing more games, more frequently. Could have started with the entire NES and SNES VC libraries up, then if they felt the need to trickle something, trickle out N64, GC, and Wii after that. That's probably too much to ask for only $20 a year though.

Re: Super Mario Party Bundle For South Korea Revealed

klingki

@Nintendofan83 Nice, I'm a bit familiar with that area. I live in Anyang-si. I buy all my games through Amazon though, so I haven't checked out a ton of gaming stuff here. I went to the official Nintendo store in Yongsan once, but it was pretty underwhelming.

Re: Video: Super Rare Games' Physical Switch Releases Are A Joy

George from Super Rare Games: Hey Alex, you want me to send over some games you could use to make a video?
Alex: Sure man, sounds great! Do I need to throw you any cash?
George: Nope, totally free of charge! But you gotta do one thing for me tho...
Alex: What’s that?
George: You have to lick each and every one of them on camera. Is that gonna be a problem?
Alex: ... Hold my beer.
