Bowser’s Fury is pretty looking and has hits that remind me of Super Mario Galaxy. Personally I like 3D World much more because it reminds me of the linear style early 2D Mario games that had a beginning, checkpoint and then ending flagpole.
I got really weirded out for a moment when Super Mario Bros. 2 wasn’t on the list. But yeah I see it as Super Mario USA a little further down. Ahhh. Chronological.
I don’t have Switch 2 and Donkey Kong Bonanza until next year so I thought I would play the first level of Tropical Freeze and Country Returns HD. I had a great time.
With Tropical Freeze I saw the smash mechanic they multiplied to the nth degree for Bonanza. Very clever idea that, the progression route.
@Azileron I searched for you. Looks like you can play this game on a Switch 2 with someone on Switch 1.
“Yes, you can play BOKURA: planet on Switch 2 with someone on Switch 1, as the game supports cross-platform play between the two systems and is designed for two separate devices. Since it requires two separate machines, you'll be playing on your Switch 1 and they'll be on their Switch 2, communicating to solve the puzzles by sharing what you see.”
I love this game. I’m only on the second level though so I don’t know the difficulty level.
One hundred percent the North American version is best. Maybe because it’s the one I saw first because of Nintendo Switch Online but she has spoiled me for the European version now.
The woman on the cover does make some sense though because there are some women riders of the jet bikes.
@BaldB3lper78 I posted my workaround for changing the Forsaken controls a few comments above. They work on a Pro Controller. This gives the game modern controls and is so much better.
I’ve heard Rayman Legends is very good. I’ve played it a little and I liked the graphics and the mechanics. I think I just didn’t play it long enough to get into it yet.
What some people say gives them motion sickness I see as the camera focussing on where I’m going. Kind of like when Fast RMX stretches the camera when you boost.
(I did have to adjust the controls though. In the Switch online controls on the minus button I inverted the Y axis. In the in-game controls I chose Style 4 so the left stick would be look and the right stick would be move and strafe. And then I went into Switch System Settings > Controllers And Sensors > Change Button Mapping > Change > Control Stick Settings and changed the left stick to the right stick and the right stick to the left stick.
I didn’t bother moving shoot from the Z button in case I use the 64 controller.)
Honestly having it running at all is good. I can imagine putting many hours into this game exploring and as I’m Nintendo only I’m glad I have that option.
UFO 50 has definitely caught my attention and I’ll have to get it. Just like the Atari 50 Celebration is great and fairly timeless these days so I think UFO 50 will be.
The Exit 8 also looks really interesting. Maybe a change of pace when you need it. I can’t wait to play it.
This weekend I was practicing in the New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe Superstar Road level Run For It which is where I farm my one-ups and I was enjoying the Asteroids-style twin stick shooter Debris Infinity which is my go-to game.
@SwitchplayerJohn You're right. I’ve always thought the N64 controller to be wonderful used with d-pad and buttons. I really like to use it or a GameCube controller for Switch games.
(I like the buttons but love the gates on the sticks. Very useful if you have to walk down a narrow path accurately.)
I don’t mind Game-Key Cards as an option but they were forced on a lot of publishers because of the lack of options of official Nintendo cartridge sizes. I think at the very least Nintendo should give smaller cartridge size options.
I need all games preserved. Thank goodness for Japan’s National Library and other preservation efforts.
In situations like this I trust that Nintendo know more than I and have played the game more than I have and I use their default button configuration.
(It’s on a case-by case basis. Like a lot of people when I play Metroid Prime 1 I will use modern controls not the in my opinion outdated controls of the GameCube original.)
I had great fun, actually. I fancied some GameCube action so I started a new save on The Wind Waker just wandering around pretending I was speedrunning, I put Nightfire on for some excitement and then I played an Asteroids-like twin stick shooter called Debris Infinity with the Switch PowerA GameCube controller and got third highest score of the week. 😊
@TheExile285 My best guess is it’s easier and less expensive to incorporate a headphone port for voice chat in a wired headset. (Anything saying Switch 2 is going to need a headphone port as Nintendo are pushing voice chat pretty hard on Switch 2.)
The Hori Split Pad Pro and Compact with the wired middle piece have had a headphone jack for years and they sell at a fairly budget price.
Hmmm. These seem excellent. I hope they do well. I’m very budget conscious and love things like this.
(For example I have a Switch 1 Pro Controller and it’s so comfy and just about perfect but I got and tried the wired PowerA controller which is much cheaper and still a really good bit of kit. I’m totally glad I got both.)
I think Super Mario 3D All-Stars 2 is a fair shout for the fortieth anniversary. There has to be a reason they haven’t released Galaxy 2 and 3D Land on Switch.
I need this to continue and spread. Last I remember on Switch 1 I could not remap the N64 controller. Also I think I remember the GameCube controller on Switch 2 is remappable but that controller for sure needs it with the A B X Y buttons.
I haven’t got a Switch 2 yet. One of the ways I am coping is using different Switch 1 controllers to keep my interest levels up and yesterday I used the joy-cons with their little attachments to make them wider which actually felt much better than joy-cons on their own.

Re: Video: After Six Wonderful Years, Zion Is Leaving Nintendo Life
Hi Zion. Yeah. I love the video you did where you sang the praises of a widescreen CRT TV. That’s my favourite video of yours. Thank you for doing it.
Re: Yoshi and the Mysterious Book
Oh. I see. Mr E is actually called Mr Encyclopaedia. That makes sense.
Re: Feature: Who Is Playtonic's Voice Of The People?
This seems simple. Because Playtonic treats their staff well it makes me want to buy their games.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (27th September)
I worked hard on New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe this weekend. Finally I have all Star Coins.
Now all I have to do is catch Nabbit a few more times and maybe find a couple of the normal exits in Soda Jungle and that will be 100%.
Re: Opinion: Why Focus On Silksong's Difficulty When We Need To Talk About How Cute It is?
Yes. I have to agree. There is so much that keeps me coming back to this game. The platforming. The movement. The graphics. The cuteness.
I can’t wait until I know the game better and I come back to play the first level like I go back to the first level of 2D Mario games for fun.

Re: Feature: Jump, Man - A Celebration Of The Greatest Jumps In Gaming
I’m a big fan of every game that has double jumps.
Re: Opinion: I'm Celebrating Super Mario Bros.' 40th Anniversary By Finally Finishing It
Congratulations, man. Great news. It is indeed a good game.
I’ve used rewind to complete games. It’s very handy.
If you had to advise someone else playing this game it’s easier on SNES because the final two castles offer a ‘No’ noise if you take the wrong route.
(I prefer the pixel art of the NES version though.)

Re: "The Most Impressive Switch 2 Port To Date" - Digital Foundry Examines Star Wars Outlaws

Re: Review: BOKURA: Planet (Switch 2) - A Little GameChat Gem That Nobody's Talking About
@Azileron No worries. 🖐😊 Any time. Happy to help.
I am no expert but the Google page on my Apple phone says it gives an “AI overview” and actually is really good.
I don’t know if this is different on other platforms.

I didn’t catch this on 64. Very much looking forward to playing this.
Re: Pac-Man World 2: Re-Pac Looks Waka Waka Wonderful In New Gameplay Trailer

I want to get this game, Crash Bandicoot and Gex. I’m looking forward to comparing them all and choosing my favourite.

Re: Nintendo Music Update Adds More Songs To Kirby And The Forgotten Land Playlist
@JohnnyMind Nintendo Music on Nintendo Switch. Not a bad idea, that.
Re: Nintendo Music Update Adds More Songs To Kirby And The Forgotten Land Playlist
I got the base tracks already released and they are good but don’t really need the deep dive tracks on this game.
I’m thrilled for people who want it though. I get it. I’d listen to every second of The Wind Waker or Super Mario Land 1.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (9th August)
I needed a linear adventure with low difficulty so I played Kirby And The Forgotten Land and had a great time.
I then stressed myself out by trying to get the last few percent to 100% in Yoshi’s Crafted World.
