The burning Chibi-Robo picture is the most relevant the character has been for the past decade. It's a shame... just like recent M&L, Nintendo hasn't given the series a fair chance, and now its developers are paying the price.
People say the GBA ports are fine alternatives to the original games but I've always found their controls to be imprecise and it really dampened my experience. I didn't love SMW or this game until I played them on Virtual Console.
It's wonderful how (as far as we know), Nintendo's flagship holiday title is an overpriced remasters of a seven-year-old game. What a great year for them.
@NEStalgia Excellent points. To me the Switch has never been able to escape the shadow of the Wii U. We're halfway through its lifecycle and the Switch is still trying to find its own identity.
Played this on Wii U but sold it, which I regret. Tired of all these "Deluxe" ports but it seems like Nintendo actually put some effort into this one. I would be way more excited if all 3 games were on the Switch (Nintendo's refusal to port almost anything before the Wii U is slowly starting to get on my nerves), it wasn't so overpriced (even $40 would be ok with me), or Wii U owners got a discount. There's only so much money I have to throw, Nintendo!
@Dezzy70 You're not the only one. Sony and Microsoft are hanging Nintendo out to dry at this point. The industry standard has been established and Nintendo just doesn't want to meet it.
@jarvismp Sounds a lot like "CONSUME PRODUCT AND THEN GET EXCITED FOR NEXT PRODUCT" to me. Consumers have the right to criticize a company when they make questionable business decisions.
It really needs some sort of fuctionality with a Switch game or application to entice more consumers to buy. As it stands one can get way more value out of a single Mario game than all of these sets combined.
Not the target audience but I might pick up a couple of the character packs (only $5 each). The style has grown on me quite a bit but I'm worried how many parents will purchase these given the distaste I've seen, the price, and of course the added financial stress from Covid.
Unpopular opinion but I had a blast in 2014. Not only holdovers from a great 2013 but MK8, Captain Toad, Pokemon, Smash, Kirby Triple Deluxe... And I still maintain that Nintendo’s E3 2014 presentation is their best of the last decade.
Considering Nintendo has been dead silent about all their upcoming games (except Origami King in May), E3 is sorely missed. I also find it's been harder to keep track of companies' various game announcements, and there just hasn't been as much hype as the traditional focused week in mid-June.
Don't understand why Nintendo has seemingly given up on all Mario Sports games besides Tennis. If they want to exploit their IPs, then actually take advantage of them.
Announcing a Direct at MIDNIGHT? This is as close to a shadow drop as you can get. Also excited to see the rabid fanboys who will be immeasurably disappointed when anyone with a brain will have actually read Nintendo’s announcement and tempered their expectations.
This site's users are clearly not the target audience for this set. The price is expensive for sure but absolutely worth it based on the build, detail, and price-to-part ratio.
I’ve had a good time with the Isle of Armor so far but it suffers from many of the problems as the same game. To be honest, I have no idea why Pokémon aren’t scaled to your current party. It’s an incredibly easy fix.
ARMS had every opportunity to become Nintendo's next smash hit, but I and many others didn't find it engaging enough to keep coming back on the same level as Mario, Zelda, and Splatoon. It's a good game, just not a great one.
I think modding is fine for personal use but modded consoles shouldn't be resold. Concerning the save data issue, Nintendo should provide that service itself if it doesn't want third-parties to do so.
I support Nintendo protecting their IPs and I understand why they want to take the mod down. I also believe that if Nintendo made their retro catalog more widely available, people wouldn't feel the need to make these projects.
I want to be more excited about this but I lost a lot of trust in GF after playing the base game. I'll happily buy the Expansion Pass only if there's substantial content to justify the price.
I'm going to miss Directs for the near future (especially since the last real one was all the way back in September) but this makes sense for now. I'm sure Nintendo has a plan even if we don't know about it.
If this was made by another developer and not Platinum there would be a lot more criticism of their handling of this port. I'll wait until these issues are fixed before considering a purchase (or maybe just hunt down the Wii U version if it's cheap).
As long as they keep handing out free NSO trials, I'll keep using them. Even at $20 a year the service isn't worth it for how much would use it (which is not very much).
Sword and Shield are enjoyable but have a ton of missed potential. I really hope that Game Freak is held to a higher design standard despite the high sales figures.

Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield Art Director Shares Colosseum And XD: Gale Of Darkness Throwback Art
Would love remakes of these games. Never played them but from what I've heard they don't deserve to be stuck on the GameCube.

Re: Paper Mario Producer Says Team Is "No Longer Able To Graphically Represent Individual Characteristics" In Toad NPCs
This is backward in every way. No one in their right mind wants this.

Re: Spike Chunsoft's Summer Sale Offers Up To 80% Off Selected Switch Titles
Liked the AI demo but still deciding whether I should get it on PS4 or Switch.
Re: Switch Online Members Will Soon Be Able To Play Pokkén Tournament DX For Free
Oh, so NOA is on the same track as its eastern counterparts. I stand corrected then.
@Apportal This is a spin-off fighting game, nothing to do with SwSh and related controversies. It’s quite fun if you’re into the genre.
Re: Surprise! Rocket League Is Going Free-To-Play This Summer
Bought this when it came out on Switch but I couldn't get into it. Maybe it's time to give it another go.
Re: Switch Online Subscribers Can Play Pokkén Tournament DX For Free Next Week (Japan)
NOA continues to disappoint as usual.
Re: Capcom Discounts Resident Evil, Mega Man And More In Summer Switch Sale (North America)
Okami and Ace Attorney are must-plays.
Re: Talking Point: Are You Prepared To Spend $70 On The Latest Games?
I don't usually buy many games at launch anyway so I wouldn't mind waiting until they go on sale.
Re: Nintendo Registers New 'Mario Sports' Trademark

Re: Poll: Did The Nintendo Direct Mini: Partners Showcase Meet Your Expectations?
It was eight minutes. Barely a Nintendo Direct at all.

Oh, so it's like Color Splash then.

Re: Can You Name These Switch Games From Their Menu Icons?
14/21. Got tricky near the end.
Re: Nintendo Download: 2nd July (North America)
Superliminal looks really interesting. I'll wait for a review.
Re: Jupiter Is Releasing A Sega Themed Picross Game On The Nintendo Switch
Had fun with Murder by Numbers but I would have appreciated touch screen support. Might stick to the 3DS Picross games for now.
Re: Reminder: Ninjala Is Now Available For Free On The Switch eShop
@TimboSlice I’m hopeful GungHo learned from the beta and fixed the experience.
Re: Reminder: Ninjala Is Now Available For Free On The Switch eShop
I'll wait for a review to determine whether it's worth my time.
Re: Can You Name The First Game These Famous Characters Appeared In?
11 out of 15. Not bad!

I’ve had a good time with the Isle of Armor so far but it suffers from many of the problems as the same game. To be honest, I have no idea why Pokémon aren’t scaled to your current party. It’s an incredibly easy fix.
Re: Pokémon To Reveal A 'Big Project' Next Week In Second Presentation
It’s about time we got news about Pokémon Sleep! But in all likelihood, it’s probably Let’s Go Johto, as much as that disappoints me.
Re: A New Pokémon Snap Game Is In Development For Nintendo Switch
This was the only announcement they needed. I’ve been waiting for Pokémon Snap 2 for years and it looks great. Super stoked to play it eventually!
Re: Talking Point: ARMS Turns 3 And Deserves More Love Than Ever
ARMS had every opportunity to become Nintendo's next smash hit, but I and many others didn't find it engaging enough to keep coming back on the same level as Mario, Zelda, and Splatoon. It's a good game, just not a great one.
Re: Nintendo Targets Switch Modchip Installation Service In Latest Legal Crackdown
I think modding is fine for personal use but modded consoles shouldn't be resold. Concerning the save data issue, Nintendo should provide that service itself if it doesn't want third-parties to do so.
Re: Can You Name These Third-Party Nintendo Games From Just Their Box Art?
8/15, better than I thought. The key is matching the art style with the console and its era, not trying to guess based on the title.
Re: Legal Crackdown On Mario 64 PC Port Not Enough To Stop Modders From Improving It
I support Nintendo protecting their IPs and I understand why they want to take the mod down. I also believe that if Nintendo made their retro catalog more widely available, people wouldn't feel the need to make these projects.

Not sure if I'm part of the target audience, but I'll check this out when it releases.

I want to be more excited about this but I lost a lot of trust in GF after playing the base game. I'll happily buy the Expansion Pass only if there's substantial content to justify the price.
Re: Hidden Ability Grookey, Scorbunny And Sobble Now Being Distributed Through Pokémon Home
@Laxus Once again, TPC making simple distribution events needlessly complicated.
Re: New Legendaries, Star Tournament And More Revealed For Pokémon Sword And Shield
@clvr True, but I don't think they've been identified until now.
Re: Bandai Namco Joins The Party With Its Very Own Amazon France Switch Listing
Leaks are in the air. Direct or no Direct, the summer game reveals are approaching.
Re: Splatoon Players Celebrate The Series' Fifth Anniversary With Lovely Fan Art
Splatoon 1 and 2 are my 2 most-played games of all time. Hoping the next five years will be just as fun and worthwhile.

Re: How Well Do You Know The Legend Of Zelda?
10/10, nice. I know Zelda a lot better than Mario it seems
Re: Nintendo Download: 14th May (North America)
Waiting for reviews for the Wonderful 101 (never played it on Wii U).
Re: Paper Mario Is Coming To Switch! Paper Mario: The Origami King To Launch This July
Looks beautiful but I’m not totally on board until we know more about the battle system and characters.

Re: It's Been Three Years Since Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Was Released On Nintendo Switch
And it's been six years since MK8 launched on Wii U. A great game for sure, but I'm ready for something new. Even another DLC pack would be nice.
Re: Feature: Zelda: Majora's Mask At 20 - The Enduring Appeal Of Nintendo's Strangest Game
Could never get past the three-day mechanic but I respect what the game tried to accomplish, and I understand why it's a favorite for so many people.
