As digital media has become more popular and with the pandemic hurting businesses it’s not too surprising but still a huge shame. I’ve rented games from the FV by my mom’s work (we live in Michigan), and I’m sad to see them go.
Honestly didn't buy any of Nintendo's games this year, though I do plan on picking up XC:DE and Age of Calamity eventually. I don't think their lineup was bad to be honest but their marketing certainly was (and continues to be). For the second year in a row we have no idea what Nintendo has for the Switch past the first couple months. I hope they start 2021 with a bang by giving us a nice big general Direct (their first in 16 months!) outlining their first half of the year.
Out of the Wii U and Switch, there's only one console with free online. Though personally my Wii U is more of a Wii/VC machine as all the online Wii U games have Switch counterparts nowadays.
I'm glad we're getting this presentation, but it shouldn't be called a Direct if it's not going to have any game news. The "Direct" branding invites expectations that don't seem to be warranted by this presentation.
Seems interesting. When it came up in the presentation it reminded me of Among Us and wondered if that would be the surprise at the end of the Direct... Fortunately I was right
I thought this was a pretty good presentation. Didn't expect Silksong so only disappointment for me is having to wait until next summer for Spelunky...
Nintendo could have easily monetized their videos or provided an official alternative. Instead, taking them down benefits no one and just destroys even more of Nintendo’s goodwill. Fans have a right to be angry about this. Every day nowadays it seems like Nintendo deliberately wants to piss them off.
It's telling of where Nintendo's at right now that they had to announce this beforehand rather than trusting their consumers to tune in. I'm excited for this announcement, but it would have been nice to be a complete surprise (which is what made Joker's reveal so good).
@JustMe I don’t use unofficial mods or emulators personally, and Nintendo has every legal right to deal with unauthorized use of their IPs, but I understand why others feel differently. I’m just offering a solution that could appeal to both parties.
While the culture in the Smash community should be addressed, I doubt it would affect Nintendo's decision-making process either way. Nintendo has been stingy about their IPs for years, far before these allegations came up. The best thing they could do is rerelease Melee on Switch with online functionality as right now Nintendo is making absolutely zilch from the game, so they aren't losing any profit from this tournament. If anything, they're just losing goodwill.
Already picked DOOM up on the PS4. Portability and gyro controls on Switch are nice but they can't compete with the price on PS4 (only $8 when on sale).
Probably the only person here who hasn't bought AC:NH yet. Seems fun but New Leaf wasn't for me and I don't want to spend $60 on a game I might not like. If Nintendo created a subscription service for some of their catalogue (a la Game Pass or PS Now) I think it could really help customers like me who are interested but on the fence about purchases.
I was planning to but what I've heard about the story is giving me a lot of reservations. The first mission of the demo was fun but I'm worried the gameplay will become tedious so if the story isn't up to par then there will be nothing drawing me in. I don't want to waste my money or my time.
This is why I bought a PS4 in addition to Switch. A compromise almost always has to be made for AAA titles on Switch. (whether it’s price, release date, format, and/or performance).
Still have a ton of great Wii and Wii U games (along with a few N64 ones) on there. I wouldn't recommend one now, but it was definitely worth the purchase for me at the time, and the Switch could stand to learn a lot from it (like additional Virtual Console games, a real Activity Log, and folders)!
I liked the demo but I'll only play this game for the story, not the gameplay, and since reviews of the story have been mixed so far I'll probably wait for a sale.
I don't mind the Gym Leaders, evil team, starter trio, etc. formula but the franchise needs to rethink the way it approaches those concepts. I shouldn't have to go to outside sources to learn central game mechanics. Even the UI is slow and archaic. Game Freak can keep creating the Pokemon designs and music (which were fantastic this gen) but outsource the actual game development to another company (perhaps Monolifth Soft or Square Enix) who actually knows how to make modern RPGs. There's so much potential and many easy improvements to make..
Did I have fun with SwSh? Yes. Are the games lazy and unpolished? Absolutely. Just because you like a game doesn't mean it doesn't have massive problems that should be fixed.
No one cares about Kanto more than Game Freak. They just can't get over a 20-year old game, and that shows in SWSH's antiquated design. Give Pokemon to Monolith Soft or another developer that is willing to take risks and modernize the series.

Grindstone is great. Haven't played it on Switch (only iOS) but I highly recommend it.
Re: Feature: Remembering Super Mario 3D Land, 3D World’s Oft-Forgotten Predecessor
I loved playing this when I was younger.

Re: Frustrated Fan Makes My Nintendo Physical Reward Stock Checker
5 years and My Nintendo has still barely improved. It's the one thing I wouldn't miss when Nintendo shuts down on March 31.
Re: Random: This Mario Kart And LEGO Mario Fusion Is A Work Of Genius
This is incredibly cool.
Re: Nintendo Appears To Be Pulling DSiWare Games From The 3DS eShop
Can't wait for the rest to be removed on March 31 😑
@Kalmaro The issue here is that these titles were never available physically to begin with.

Re: In 2020, Just Dance Was As Popular As Watch Dogs And Mario Kart 8 Sold More Than In 2019
If we won't be getting a new Mario Kart, even after 7(!) years, some DLC would be nice.

Very happy with both a Switch and a PS4.

This is why you don't buy games at launch.

Re: Nintendo Download: 17th December (North America)
@HeroOfCybertron And its date needs to be updated too.
Re: Poll: Among Us Is Out Now On The Nintendo Switch, Are You Getting It?
@Snatcher Which is great if you play the game frequently, but I watch Among Us more than I play it so the value isn't really there for me.

Seems interesting. When it came up in the presentation it reminded me of Among Us and wondered if that would be the surprise at the end of the Direct... Fortunately I was right

Re: Poll: Among Us Is Out Now On The Nintendo Switch, Are You Getting It?
It's free on mobile so I don't feel the need to pay for it on Switch. If I ever had some extra Gold Points I might consider it.

Totally forgot this game existed.
Re: Persona 5 Strikers Launches On Switch In The West In February, New Trailer And Screenshots
What a surprise!... Still have no idea why they're bringing this over instead of giving P5/P5R a Switch version first.
Re: Review: Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light - We've Come A Long Way In 30 Years
Just play the DS remake if you can.
Re: Poll: Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & The Blade Of Light Is Out Today, Are You Getting It?
I’m a Fire Emblem fan but I’ll stick with Three Houses (bought for only $27.99!) for now.

Just recieved my copy in the mail today. Excited to play it after XC1 Definitive Edition.

Yoku's Island Express. One of my favorite games I played last year, and it's on sale pretty often; it's only $5 right now.

Re: Random: March 31st 2021 Is Becoming An Increasingly Depressing Day For Mario Fans
Nintendo makes great games, but they're not your friend.
Re: Super Mario Maker Online Services To Be Terminated, Will Soon Be Removed From Sale
Nintendo should at least make MM1 courses available to play in MM2 to compensate, or add a MM1 engine to MM2.
Re: Eiji Aonuma Talks About The Possibility Of More Legend Of Zelda Spin-Offs
A Paper Zelda game sounds extremely appealing to me.

There's a good chance Xbox Series X/S sales will never be better in Japan than this week, if Xbox One sales are anything to go by.

The Ace Attorney Trilogy is phenomenal. I also really liked the AI: Somnium Files demo and plan on picking that up.
