Pokémon's mainline games have always stood out as the most popular entries in the franchise, but its many spin-offs and sub-series also have their fair share of adoring fans. Among these are Pokémon Colosseum and its successor Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, which both launched on the GameCube in the early 2000s.

It just so happens that James Turner, who served as Art Director on Pokémon Sword and Shield for Nintendo Switch, first started working on the Pokémon series around this time. Colosseum was his first Pokémon project, and he's taken the time to share a new piece of art celebrating the game. Turner says, "This was the first Pokémon game I ever worked on so it holds a special place for me."

It also just so happens that this week marks the 15th anniversary of XD: Gale of Darkness' release in Japan. It's fitting, then, that Turner has also shared a throwback piece of art to celebrate this game, too.
