Three Tempting Virtual Console Games Are Heading to North America This Week

Can we please stop with the Wii games and get real VC games, like Snes, N64, DS, etc?

Well if this is one of the few ways to play a quality RE game on my Wii U I guess that's ok. This might show Crapcom that there is an interest in Resident Evil on Nintendo systems. I say that in the nicest way though.

Already own Rhythm Heaven Fever physically. I wish it was the DS one so I could play it on the TV (even though I have that one physically too).

Darn it for a second there I thought we were getting Rebirth or RE0 on the VC

RE is tempting. It's too bad the local 2nd hand stores seem to sell physical copies for half the Canadian eShop price.

Can I just assume there will be no more vc games for regular 3ds? I was so hoping for more. So many great NES games that could be on the 3ds vc.

I will likely get umbrella chronicles. Never played it before.

Nintendo has been incredibly stupid when it comes to VC titles (ex double dragon 1 and 2 but not 3, the worst Castlevania portable but neither of the better ones, star tropics 1 and 2 on wiiu but missing on 3ds, SNES only being on "new" 3ds) one of the reasons I love my vita!

I hope we truly get a proper VC on Switch (we've been wishing this for years), possibly rebranded under the "Classics" line like the NES Mini Classic.

I think DS/Wii VC entries should be put on hold until the Wii U has the same library of NES/SNES/N64 games as the Wii U.

...At least bring Chrono Trigger to the Wii U VC, please Nintendo/SE!

Yuck, umbrella chronicles is awful, got it free on PSN a few years back.
Mega Man X3 is a finally, even though it's the weakest entry of the SNES X games, getting it just to complete the Mega Man collection.

I loved Umbrella Chronicles on Wii I have to say. Currently playing Revelations on my New Nintendo 3DS, really good. RE4: Wii Edition remains my favourite though!

Rhythm Heaven Fever is AWESOME! I may give my disc to my sister (owns a Wii NOT Wii U) and just download it now.

"Tempting" went right out the window at full price for Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. Here in Europe it can easily be bought on Ebay for about €3.

And Rhythm Heaven Fever I remember Argos were still selling new and sealed copies of that only a couple of years ago for €5.

@GameOtaku Regardless of anything else, why would you want double dragon 3? It's the worst of the three no matter what hardware it's on.

@Dangerous25 They're all really good and you're right RE4 is the best. Played Revelations on Wii U and thought it was great. Too bad we didn't get Revelations 2. Seemed unfair really for it not to be on a Nintendo system when the 3DS put the spotlight on the first game.

For a moment I thought there would be resident evil 2 (even though I would mind getting it double )

@GameOtaku The original arcade version had microtransactions in the 90s, before microtransactions were a thing. You're not missing anything.

Except for not being able to play it, it's on wiiu just like the star tropics games why they aren't on 3ds is a mystery since they obviously have the license.

@mikegamer Not until they put up Mario Kart Wii. Already own the first print physical release, but I NEED this one digitally. It'll spare my Wii U's optical disc drive, unlike it did my Wii's, which failed back in 2013.

The Umbrella Chronicles is tempting, but not at $28. Can easily get it way cheaper than that.

If these Wii games were $15 (or the week 1 deal they had running for the first few) I'd be inclined to re-buy quite a few more of them.

RE:UC was probably better on the Wii because of the Wii remotes pointer. I'm not sure if the PS3 port used the Move controller or not but that laggy controller was no match for a Wii remote.

These are decent games but I'm not tempted by them as I still need to get Mario Strikers Charged.

I can't download Wii games, because I don't have enough room on my console. Wish you could save them on SD cards like Wii & 3DS.

I disagree. You can still buy wii games physical, so it's kinda a waste when you could go to a store and pick it up unlike NES SNES and Gameboy you either have to scour pawn shops or risk getting a repro from some shady online dealer.

Gamestop and second hand game stores sell Res.Ev.UC for between $5-$8. You can get both UC and Darkside Chronicles(which is much better)for less than $20. Then keep physical copies for future play.

@Lucina Still insulting people I see. I don't consider Wii games to be true VC games in the way the other systems are on Wii U. They're basically file dumps run through the Wii mode on the console. They don't even have restore points which I consider a very important feature when playing VC games. Then there's the cost and accessibility of procurring these games. It's far easier and cheaper to buy a Wii game than it is to buy a SNES game.. The Wii U can play Wii discs. It can't play SNES cartridges.

Do you hear yourself at times? We should be grateful that they're still releasing VC games on the Wii U? It's their business, it's the very least they can and should be doing. They take little effort compared to retail releases and Wii games especially take little effort. There's no more retail games until Zelda: BOTW, a gap of at least 6 months from Paper Mario: ColoUr Splash. And the release schedule was barren before that game. Did you see Europe's downloads this week? Perhaps you should take a look.

The Wii U's VC has been very poor when compared to the Wii. The Wii had more systems and more games. And that was technically inferior. Where's the Gamecube games we were promised?

That's a good point the wii has a lot of VC that will run on 3ds! They are just rom dumps so why not just release the entire wii VC library?

I don´t have interest in Wii downloadable games in Wii U. Why?

• No VC really, only emulated (no Miiverse).
• They are cheaper in retail and i preffer to have the box.

Little reasons to have them:

• Only very expensive or impossible to find in stores (like Xenoblade or Pandora´s, but I have them in retail already)
• Important discount.
• Really gamepad support (games like Zelda really don´t use it, only 2D games use them really)

So Rythm Heaven maybe it could be interesting if it become cheaper.

Please Konami!!! Where are the Turbografx games?? Or DS/N64 that don´t belong to Nintengo. Wii VC is a lot a lot a lot better than Wii U VC (only Wii U is better with indies but that isn´t VC).

Not bad choices but nothing of personal interest. I want Pikmin 2, Majora's Mask, Starfox 64, & F-Zero X.

I already have the disc for Rhythm Heaven Fever already, oddly at the same price years ago during the Wii era.

But It is one of my favorite games and the Wii channel is still buggy at time on my Wii U, so I might cave in buying again if nostalgic gets in the way of logic.

Still holding out for Majora's Mask, Mario Party 2, Mario Kart 64, and Super Smash Bros. Pretty much the only ones left I'd like to update to the native Wii U Menu.

i want other m. in lieu of any new metroid, it'll do.

I'll pass on Rhythm Heaven, thanks. I'm down for hunting perfect scores, but the DS game was way too picky, to the point where it had to be frame-perfect, which is too sinful to be called "Heaven."
It's nice that NA is getting a big VC update, but of course it only happens when Europe is hardly getting anything.

@Jamotello You sure you want to pay $20 to download it? It's like $10 for a pre-owned copy at GameStop, and I would wager it can be found cheaper online.

Oooh, I saw the thumbnail and thought we were getting the Gamecube RE:Remake and RE:Zero.

Guess we'll have to wait till the Switch to have a GC VC. (Got a nice ring to it, eh?)
