@Yoshi3 i dunno man i wouldnt throw in the towel so soon! i get a vibe from this game that it's meant to bridge the gap between both the new and old formula enjoyers to create an experience that can be enjoyed by both! I think the zelda team understands that the open world zelda isnt loved by everyone and is working to refine what works about both formulas. I think this is a test drive, just like how a link between worlds was. As im sure you know, it experimented with a lot of classic design concepts but experimented heavily with non-linear design, which directly led to breath of the wild, a game defined by its player freedom, something that was just about entirely new for the series (they had toyed with the concept in games prior but not nearly to the same extent). Though i think with the release of totk, they learned that bigger doesnt necessarily mean better and i think the whole ordeal really burned them out on that kind of open-world zelda. Much like how skyward sword burned them out on purely linear zelda, which led to link between worlds and yada yada yada you get the point. We're on the precipice for another zelda formula shake-up, and echoes is the paperwork to prove it. Something that can hopefully make everyone happy, cause it really sucks to see so much negativity around a series that puts out so many legendary games. Or maybe im wrong and the next big 3d zelda game will be the same hyrule but with 100 LAYERS who knows lol

honestly, this game feels like more like a mixture of the zelda series' entire legacy! So much is making a return and being mixed into this game, and it makes it feel like its a big celebration for zelda's first real outing as the main character. And im here for it, day one!

@TheSaneInsanity probably for the same reason that it was teased the way it was: since its a pretty niche nintendo franchise! Its not something thats gonna grab most people off the bat, and to be honest that includes me (though im open to the idea of giving the series a go). Though it seems the marketing strategy might not have been enough to drum up interest based on this article's poll.

watch in 5 years this game is gonna have a wind waker moment its basically series standard at this point

@LikelySatan honestly im a little envious of drag queens. I can't go out in public as myself without feeling somewhat overly self-conscious! Its just really nice and kind of inspiring to see people with the confidence to present themselves as they truly want to be, without the dissenting voices within themselves and out in the world stopping them from doing so.

@VHSGREMLIN well, to each their own! I used to be in that camp with sonic until i played mania in 2020 and that really opened my eyes to how good the games could be. Of course they're not all winners (sonic 06 is infamous for a reason, though the fan pc port is excellent), but if you were ever to have a change of heart, this would be one of the games to start with! @VHSGREMLIN daaaaang man thats cold! if you havent played it before its 100% worth a try if you like platformers or really getting into time attack modes! I dont know what makes you abhor this series so much but there really are some super games in it! Ya dont know until you try it, right?

@Bigmanfan thats why im holding out hope, forces is a visually impressive game that still looks good on switch so im hoping so does this one. I'm less so worried about the sonic gens content and more so about the shadow content and especially the open hub world. Though the cyberspace levels ran just fine on switch so hopefully the levels themselves for shadow will run good too! It also probably helps that they've had time to learn from frontiers how to make a huge open zone work more optimally and that the environment itself is a lot less complex. That and that its not being outsourced to a third party or being put under a time crunch

@Yalloo it really feels like a bit of a slap in the face for sure. Im hoping this set is just preceding a whole line of zelda sets with much more justifiable pricetags (king of red lions comes to mind specifically as a decently sized yet affordable enough set option for any zelda fan out there)

@Elbow who doesnt? the switch i think gets the edge over the 3ds because of its incredible library, but the 3ds is no slouch either in that department and it just has this personality the switch has never had. Either way, i still keep both charged up and ready to go! Really cant go wrong with either console.

ive seen it done well both ways, but it certainly seems like the "throw me straight in" strategy tends to work more efficiently to get me into a game more often

gosh it really feels like this game was made for me, they take my favorite sonic game, and package in with it a mini open-world sonic game starring SHADOW with brand-new levels! I havent felt this positive about a sonic game before release in a long time, cause this game looks great.

i have the amazon basics one so idk why id need this im guessing its like that scene in home alone where the mom yells "KEVIN" on the plane but instead of them being a few hours too late its 7 years
