@GrailUK honestly, itd be cool if even after the next console came out they just kept on making more switch 1 models and made the less demanding games cross-gen

@OorWullie for me, colors has been a really slow burn. I really didnt care for it when i first played the remake when it released in 2020, but over time ive been warming up to it more. People aren't lying when they say the game is at its most engaging after youve beaten it and are looking to get all the red star rings

@Mrkittyhead this is why this game is perfect: its like a sample platter of everything the series has to offer! If you like the classic sonic gameplay the most, then i could suggest like origins, superstars, or mania (definitely mania). If you end up liking modern sonic the most, then i can point you towards colors or unleashed. And if you like shadow the most, I can point you towards frontiers, project 06, and the adventure titles! The game is just a great jumping-off point all in all!

its heartwarming to see people loving this game! It really is such a fun game, and i cant wait for my switch copy to get here so i can finally play it portably (November 4th cant come soon enough for me lol)

@Samalik i understand where you're coming from, it would have been a nice addition if they gave us the option to play the game with its original cutscenes, I get that you can make apt comparisons here, but just because you can compare a sonic remaster with so-so writing to historical art doesn't mean they actually correlate and that both cases should be handled with the same processes (a case of the false analogy fallacy)! I get that there is a point to be made here, but it's just not a very strong one. This is the second time we've had this conversation, and both times all we've done is talk about how "well it could mean THIS for the series' future" or "well if we do this here should we let it happen to this other thing here". It's just not a conversation we can reasonably reach a conclusion to right now since there's a whole lotta 'what ifs' at play

this is such a strange issue to have with this game! I can understand being frustrated about censorship in a lot of cases or even being mad about the principle, but the principle at play itself is a silly so i dunno about this one you guys sometimes minor jokes or lines dont age well or dont fit what direction the team is taking the characters

@Jhena frontiers is worth a try for someone who isnt like SUPER DUPER into sonic if you A: can get it on sale and B: can put aside pretty blatant flaws with the game lol

i had no idea dead by daylight was on switch! i doubt ill be buying it there since my copy on pc is perfectly fine, but its still neat to learn its on switch! If youve got friends who would play with you, id definitely recommend

@Samalik i can empathize with that, though admittedly I've never really thought the series' biggest strength was the story or dialogue. When it's good, it adds to the game's strengths for me, and when its bad i just skip the cutscenes! Different strokes for different folks!

@Samalik honestly ill need to play it myself to see how i feel about the writing changes, but i doubt they'll bother me much. Honestly, im kind of looking forward to them! I feel like the word "censorship" is being used throughout this comment section as if the original's writing was this incredible masterclass art piece that used adult tones to tell a deep and moving story when anyone that played the game knows that isnt exactly the case. It's not bad per say, but i know that I skip pretty much all dialogue and cutscenes when i replay the game and it's certainly a little stereotype-y with a lot of interactions. That's not to say that I know I'll like the new writing MORE (ive been avoiding pretty much all spoilers except switch footage so i dont know how ill feel yet), but im looking forward to seeing what they have in mind to make me like it more!

@the_beaver thats what i thought too! but ive seen switch gameplay and it just seems to be a strange coincidence cause both games run at a really stable 30 fps, and a clean lookin' one at that! Think how forces looked on switch, thats what it reminded me of at least (i mean forces is a bad game but it looked and ran better than it had any right to on switch so its got that going for it). I can find a video of it and hit you or anyone else interested up with a link or two if youd like!

dang, i cant believe its only 4 minutes. I hope the last episode is longer than the last two! That being put aside, looks great as usual! Im so glad theyre setting this precedent that all new big sonic releases get lil animated shorts before release. Colors' was okay, but that knuckles prologue for frontiers was awesome and so are these! Also, its interesting that this confirms shadow gens happens at the same time as sonic gens. I mean it was kind of obvious and i assumed as much, but it'll be interesting to see how they handle the story in shadow gens if its happening at the same time as sonic's (without rewriting sonic gens, though I certainly wouldnt be opposed to that)

you already know im picking up mario party, sonic x shadow, and mario & luigi! This has been a shockingly good follow-up year to 2023 in terms of game output. Seriously, so much good stuff has come out these past 2 years its insane!

i am so excited for people who never got the chance to play the original sonic gens! I think people are gonna be pretty suprised by how good it is, especially since most people have kind of harbored the (somewhat fair) assumption that sonic is always bad. I'm not overly optimistic about the future of sonic just yet, but if is setting the precedent for the future we're on a pretty good path right now! Have a great time playing, first-timers; you're in for a banger!

the ps2 is a legendary console, but if there was ever a juggernaut of a console to dethrone it, its gotta be the switch!

@LikelySatan no, i know what you're talking about (or at least i think i do, the vaugeness throughout this whole conversation and my anxiety are killing me LOL). You're referring to the comments at the top that are talking about the zelda poster shown in the full boxart and how the comments imply that, since zelda is a girl and the gaming community is what it is, it's weird or incorrect for women to have imperfections. Or at least i think, cause now im second guessing myself! I am very excited for this game and for the titular zelda to finally get her chance in the spotlight. Can't we just be united over our shared excitement for this upcoming banger?

I don't really think it's all too fair to insult my intelligence when you burst into the room unprompted with a hot-button topic and then get all mean and condescending when no one knows what you're on about! If you're talking about the poster comments then that is the stretchiest stretch of all time man. It's just bein' mean to be mean and that's not cool!
