Re: Sega Reports 'Sluggish' Sales Of Sonic Superstars And Other Major Titles

epicgamner

@smithyo Superstars is meh, and that’s ok. No need to act like sonic has always been bad, cause if you actually take a closer look at come out there’s been a lot of really great stuff. Both by sega and the fan developers, there’s all kinds of awesome stuff to play. Sure, sonic 06 sucks. But hey, you can play it on pc for free with nothing but game-changing improvements thanks to the fans. If you want to play a good 2d sonic, sure superstars and 4 are bad. So just play sonic 1-3, or the advance series, or the rush series, or fangames like sonic and the fallen star or triple trouble 16 bit. Heck, mania is a fan game, and it rocks! This is not all to say that sega should get a pass, because pretty much every single sonic failure is on the higher-up’s hands. But let’s not mince words and act like sonic was never good in the first place. I mean look at how many developers the series has inspired! That at least has to be worth something.

Re: Nintendo Has Seemingly Filed More Patents For Mario Wonder And Zelda: TOTK

@axelhander do these ones though? I can see how a patent like the Namco one in 1995 would be a problem, but for something as specific as this exact building or revival system, is it really an issue? Also, just because a patent is made, does that mean that it will automatically bring down all projects that use the patent's contents, or is it a case-by-case basis that Nintendo (or whoever made the patent) makes decisions on? It would have to be case-by-case I assume, as there isn't a fair way you can do it automatically without checking. And I feel like we never hear about any projects shut down by Nintendo because of patents, just the regular fangame business. If I'm right (which I'm not sure if I am, so correct me if I've missed something), then it doesn't really matter here in this specific case since Nintendo isn't going to be bringing down projects that iterate on the concepts in their games based on their history. I did a very light search under Nintendo patent lawsuits and nothing relevant came up. I'm all about supporting the little guy in these kinds of cases, but I really don't think this specific case is worth going up and arms about.

@LadyCharlie i think thats a bit of an overreaction! I dont really see how this is scummy, as they're not patenting the idea of building in games or reviving fallen teammates in platformers, but rather these specific instances. maybe im out of my depth here, as im not crazy well-versed in all this kind of patent stuff, so lmk. But otherwise, i dont get how its a big deal.

Re: Hi-Fi Rush Datamine Lends Weight To Switch Port Rumours

@FoxyDude dude, i cannot wait for you and other newcomers to play it. It is SO goddamn good and definitely belongs on switch along with cuphead and ori. I literally have nothing bad to say about it, its the perfect length, the mechanics are intuitive and really fun, the writing is funny and engaging, the characters are entertaining, the music will be stuck in your head forever, and its the best thing microsoft has put out in a loooooong time. Theres a reason it won an award at the game awards and starfield didnt. Seriously, tl;dr: its damn good

Re: Talking Point: Is Knowing A Game's Ending Really That Bad?

epicgamner

depends! If its something like a mario game then i dont really care, obviously. But if a game has a story that makes the experience more valuable, then id rather not know. But i loved persona 5 to pieces when i played it for the first time last year, despite knowing the main twists. It really just is a case-to-case basis, though knowing spoilers before youve played a game can really kill interest before you even have the chance to play it

Re: Rumour: Sonic Generations To Be Featured At PlayStation's State Of Play

epicgamner

sonic generations is one of, if not the best 3d sonic games sonic team has ever put out. If they can re-release it without making us deal with any stupid compromises and maybe, just MAYBE add some new levels that are on par with the original, i will be very happy. For me, generations is my most consistently played game probably EVER. I boot it up about once a week to get my rooftop run fix lol

Re: 'Switch 2' Launching This Year With 8-Inch LCD Screen, According To New Analyst Rumour

@FishyS i mean its like this before EVERY new console reveal. hundreds of rumors flood in as a select few are actually leaked stuff and the rest are fakes that are just either too general to be outright wrong or, well, outright wrong. It comes with the occupation is what im trying to say, that the flood of rumors dont mean that the rumors are true but it gives a lot of credibility to the concept that a brand spankin' system IS coming soon
