@deKay i'm pretty sure these are confirmed. Especially the third party games, Nintendo will be careful on that one. And Mario etc. was already revealed before.
Hard to know, impossible to predict. Zombi U remains one of the best games ever created - an amazing visceral experience on the Wii U GamePad (rivaled only with such outstanding ports like Arkham City:AE and Mass Effect 3:SE) but they did disappoint later and acted like the idiots they are. We will see this time.
Oh no imagine a 2D platformer skipping Nintendo... now it will only have 5482 other such games to play. Pretty obvious though that it will come to the NX possibly with a dozen more Boom exclusives too. Nintendo announcements for Sega clearly withheld for marketing purposes.
This is a good thing. People wanting Nintendo to create a machine similar to latest XBOX/PS are wrong, there is no market for that anymore. If the concept is unique and the new console is popular enough, we can hope for third parties to create unique experiences or unique ports like they did for the Wii from time to time (not enough) and how they did for Arkahm City, Mass Effect III, Deux Ex, Lego Undercover, Rayman Legends, Zombi U.
so what's the difference? you see it in the glasses instead of on the phone. AR is certainly the future but glasses are a problem. The reason is why VR sucks, because people don't want to put stuff on their heads. VR is the worst because it's an uncomfortable helmet and you're stuck in your house/basement.
So there is a need to have something really convincing to switch from the mobile phone to glasses, because people will prefer to walk around without/with contacts/with their own glasses.
@rjejr I totally agree with you. I'll take GamePad integration, interactive map and so on, which is amazing when done right (like in Arkham City, Mass Effect III:SE etc) any day over ANY graphical improvement let alone resolution.
I'm calling it. NX is a code name for NOSES. NX will be a smellator and be able to transmit all kinds of smells... roses.. pies... firepowder.... Wario....
This is the biggest smartphone game ever. It will take a while before it dies out. In the meantime, Nintendo can and will do a billion other things. Some will be successful some not. Companies went public or were acquired for billions for one game successes. I still get Facebook invites to play candy crush all the time. This is the best time ever for Nintendo. And yes it is still half the value of what it was in 2007.
"more people are using the maps in Pokémon Go, which are powered by Google Maps, than they use the Google Maps app itself".
Is this a dream? Has Nintendo finally taken over the world? I bought Nintendo shares way back in 2010/2011 and been waiting for this ever since. Can the stock reach the Wii's peak $80??
This is a game, so it is great news for both gamers and Nintendo fans. Nintendo is not abandoning any of its core stuff - I just hope the core stuff is just as successful.
People are quitting their jobs to become Poke hunters... I wonder if in 200 years they'll talk about video games history, they'd mention Pong, Super Mario Bros... but the biggest presentation will belong to Pokemon Go.
Pokemon Go is a Nintendo miracle. I remember seeing people playing Candy Crush and thinking what if... what if someday a Nintendo game will be that popular... that crazy... and here, it happened. And more...
well, they say... "leave one's fortune in the hands of fate" that's what Nintendo is about.. the Pokemon GO phenomenon is an absolute miracle to Nintendo and now you just enjoy the ride...
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy LOL, that's hilarious. Bigger than Wii Sports... bigger than Game Boy... bigger than Twitter... soon it will be bigger than the meaning of life itself. What on earth happened?
I'm just realizing this is like bigger than Candy Crush and Angry Birds It's huge. It's in news reports in small countries around the world. If they do it right we're talking about movies, parks, Frozen like presence... like the biggest thing since... Mario or Mickey. Stock jumped 35%, can it jump 200%? who knows? Knock on Wood Nintendo, you struck gold. And gold means more stuff for everyone - Wii U, NX, whatever.
What do you mean wasn't entirely voluntary? It sounds exactly like it says - he is probably pursuing other stuff. He chose to leave. Glad I have his 3DS mii and all that.
The GamePad is awesome just like the Wii Remote and the Gamecube Controller before - Nintendo knows its controllers. Its best uses were in third party brilliances like Zombi U, Batman and Mass Effect III, and I'll always come back for these experiences.
Glad this game generated so much hype and attention. Nintendo has such great ideas sometimes on how to promote itself it is a shame it did not ultimately work with Wii U or the stock price.
@gcunit actually I agree that NX won't have "core" Ubisoft games. Even if NX is more powerful than a PS6, even if it sells 200 million units... Ubisoft like EA and most of these stupid buttholes are convinced that the market for the Nintendo consoles don't want these games. 100,000 to 1,000,000 is the maximum number of copies that will be sold on a Nintendo console for these third party games. For some reason it was enough for many Gamecube games but somewhere both in the GC era and in the Wii era that was no longer true.
These games are not coming back. I don't care. I can actually play them on my laptop or other PCs etc. They mean nothing to me console wise. But thats it. Ubi, EA even Konami or Capcom etc can shove it, but that's it.
Really hoping that's true. It was unfortunate that the fantastic second screen GamePad didn't become popular but hopefully they'll strike gold here again.
@SpareChnge that's an exaggeration, Fox only owns the movie rights. But yes, Marvel is trying not to focus on them too much because of not having the screen rights (at this point).
One day I might play the first on the Wii U and one day , but only if I'm drunk or something, I might decide to play this sequel on PC. Of course both games should cost less than $10... together.
Fell asleep during this video. Yes, fans want some new stuff that they like. Big news. Nintendo has moved on and is creating probably dozens of games for this NX or whatever it is, and putting a lot into the Zelda game which will hopefully be amazing - that takes a whole lot of work, and they still have lots of games coming this year, especially for the 3DS. I really don't understand the need for anything else.
VR is a total flop and losery road. Augmented Reality sounds like the future, if anything, but even that is highly skeptical. I don't think Nintendo will go in to this crap especially since the 3DS' coolness is that it has no glasses. They will come up with something actually useful and cool that will hopefully sell well.
Haven't watched it all, skipped, but it looks pretty good. Maybe it'll finally be a good movie game. The flopness of the recent Ratchet & Clank is hilarious . As for the games, I loved AC II because of the Italian setting, and III and IV are pretty good with the GamePad, but if I were Nintendo, I'd refuse Ubisoft games on my next console - telling them they have to evaluate the relationship first or something, same for EA AC has been too overdone by now.... if they want AC on the NX they should bundle all the games after AC IV in one disc.
"There's no play like it" is quite brilliant and works on many levels, well done Nintendo. It reminds people how unique is the Nintendo hardware/software - something that is their primary objective, and it changes the conversation from "games" to "play", giving it a nice spin. Love it. Music bit very catchy too.
So much better... if NX uses cartridges, it already beats the competition with these outdated discs and all its associated problems like scratches, problems with lasers, lack of space etc.
@TruenoGT I hope that means they won't shut down the Wii U servers at all. There's also very little point in making Mario Kart 9 or another Smash Bros. unless there is a cool new gimmick. Graphically it will be the same HD etc. If they release them as ports, then it's fine for everyone to be on the same servers, maybe the NX with little bit enhanced graphics etc.
@rjejr that "overhaul" seems like a very technical meaningless corporate governance/legal change with no effects at all.
if anything, it's too early. it's sad to have the Wii U sent to his death. They could have made some amazing games to it and carry it to the future, 2018...
@Dr_Corndog it's exactly like that, but that's what the dudebro consoles have been from day one - very cheap PC's (with as much as they can imitate from Nintendo to complement). I eventually went the other way and bought a laptop - more expensive than the console, still cheaper than a desktop pc with a monitor etc., it's weaker compared to a PC with non laptop graphic card, comparable to the consoles and better in many respects, and has vastly more games to play. Consoles in my house will stay purely Nintendo for some time...
I think many people use wii remotes and classic controller whether for Wii U games, Wii, or VC. I even use them with my PC. Those kind of comments in the articles are really stupid.
It will be great if Wii U is more powerful than ps4, although power isn't really important... I just bought a laptop that is more powerful than the ps4. The ps4 is just a basically POS PC in terms of GPU at least. I want Nintendo to keep up the creativity in the controls to make the console different than a PC in a substantial way.
