Re: Nintendo Switch Dips to €299 on Amazon France

dumedum

@leo13 the Switch is an amazing deal but you are looking at it from the same point I do - someone who likes Nintendo stuff, and knows how much other Nintendo stuff costs etc. People are concerned that the price is too high looking at game libraries that other companies' consoles can offer. It's really only the other consoles as good new phones like iOS cost so much more and PC's cost more too...

So looking at the field of competition, it's just that those hyped machines of Sony and Microsoft get too much of the spotlight and Nintendo could use a lower price to compete (looking at it as a portable like others said does make it ... a category of one, no doubt, unless someone makes a new Vita like successor, and obviously the next generation of consoles will have the copycat exact same set-up of the Switch (PS5 etc) I assume but you never know).

Re: Warner Bros Resurrects Disney Infinity Studio Avalanche For Cars 3 Video Game

@rjejr I found Toy Story 3 Nazi-like moments terrifying... I think that was as dark as I ever remember. I don't think this is as dark as you think. There was a teaser that only showed the crush and it was tough, but here they are basically presenting a come-back story presumably with a very happy ending. He doesn't die, he gets back on his feet and races again , but against someone younger - important lesson to learn, life goes on, generations, and it is a RACING car, and driving fast should be taught to kids as something that really is very dangerous so they won't do that on the road themselves.

(i'm thinking about Mufasa dying in the Lion King or all those very evil villains in some other Disney films - isn't that scarier?)

Re: Feature: Reflecting on Time Spent With the Nintendo Switch

I already know playing BOTW on the tablet lying on bed will be the most amazing thing ever.... but those reactions to the HD Rumble are really interesting. If it's so cool and innovative and hi tech and groundbreaking I wish it would be highlighted and advertised to a huge extent in the following months ... sounds like a homerun hopefully.

Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo 3DS, A System That Still Has a Role to Play

dumedum

@Romeo-75 I agree with everything you said about the sheer awesomeness of the 3DS but I just cannot imagine how they will be able to go forward with both. Surely they're not thinking people will just carry both the Switch and 3DS with them. They converged.

There can't be any other way but I agree 3DS design and everything about it... Just too sad and cruel to leave it behind. Same way I feel with Wii U... Never to have another Arkham City, Mass Effect , Deux Ex or Zombi U Wii U experiences... Tough.

Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo 3DS, A System That Still Has a Role to Play

@oatmealwarrior92 unless Switch fails which I pray not, I don't think there's any doubt about that. It's their way of getting out of the home console market. They make a portable which is easy playable also on TV winning all markets. It's Switches from now on. Smaller. Larger. Maybe more screens maybe 3D (please) but it's one console going forward. Console . And Mobile. And then also find a way to combine mobile games to console too (I thought they'd announce Android support with Switch).

Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo 3DS, A System That Still Has a Role to Play

dumedum

It has a lot of life in it... But no successor. The whole point of Switch and merging departments is to develop the games combined for one platform so the console will have a lot of first party games even if Western third parties abandon it. That's the whole idea behind this. So when new 3DS retires whenever that is, that's it.

Which is a shame. 3D for portable gameplay is awesome. And dual screens too. So was the Wii U. But what can you do. Hopefully Switch will be just as amazing and sell bonanzas.

Re: Reggie on How the Switch Will Maintain Third Party Support

dumedum

@dimi the Wii could have sold for higher. It was actually very underpriced the way it was that popular in its peak around 2009. Of course the price had something to do with the popularity but it was much more than that, it was a phenomenon. Like people buy iPhones no matter the cost, that's what it was.

@Anti-Matter
@AlexSora89
Just played the iOS version yesterday, before it gave me a problem every time with the purchase screen. I think the game is very pretty and... yeah, anyway, regarding the Sony device, it's like my Sony TV - it's hooked to a Wii, Wii U, Mini NES and planned for the Switch I love that , that's 3 HDMI, one component. The other HDMI for the cable box/DVR.

Re: Ubisoft Confident Switch Can Be A "Bridge" Between Home Consoles And Mobile

good interview. I think he understands it - "there is a need for Switch, and we probably don't realize it right now, which is what makes this so interesting. " The Switch is saying to people - we're here for you, we made the perfect platform for you to enjoy on TV and the Go, and everybody can join with their own games or ports, there is no barrier this time.

Re: Nintendo Switch Won't Have Miiverse Or StreetPass

dumedum

@XCWarrior you're totally ignoring the no 1 position. Yes grossing chart is different and No. 19 is extremely high. There are millions of games wanting to get there. You completely misundersrand what it means to have the no. 1 free app. It's a goldmine that they can exploit for ads if they choose that they can sell ...It's a huge bunch of users. That's as stupid as saying Twitter or Facebook users doesn't matter because it's free. This is how it works. Nintendo is out there with news all the time on its mobile games rather than the smaller bubble of videogames a market that was dying for them.

With every app on mobile their presence will be bigger and more dominant and more mainstream. You might think every app of theirs is supposed to top the charts but it doesn't work like that. A mobile game to develop is also so much easier and cheaper than console developing. Your calculations made no sense. Not a flop but a huge success.

Re: By The Way, The Joy-Con Grip Bundled With Nintendo Switch Won't Charge Your Joy-Cons

dumedum

Couldn't get any higher? That's a bit of a stretch. It's a $300 console home and portable together with advanced HD Rumble motion camera etc controllers enabling 2 players from the box to play and oh yeah a capacitive touchscreen and all that. How much do you want it to cost. A freakin lousy iPhone costs $700 and comes with just about nothing.

Also this news made no sense at all. You're saying there is one grip with a USB that allows you to connect a cable to charge and one without. Who the hell would even want to attach a cable to their grip especially with 20 hours long chargers. That's just stupid. You'd want it to be wireless obviously. So I guess for stupid people Nintendo is willing to make such a grip at extra cost. More than reasonble. Now one day where all electricity will be wireless that would make sense maybe so revisit it then.

Re: Guide: A Breakdown of Confirmed Nintendo Switch Games and Release Dates

dumedum

So NBA 2K18 is coming confirmed? I don't trust these guys at all. I'll buy it for Switch if it's capable le and doesnt have LeBron on the cover bring back Black Mamba, I liked that Wii version back then.

By the way , Legends definitive version? I'm sure it will be dazzling on the beautiful Switch but the two screens two players thing.... Wii U version was definitive already .

Re: Nintendo Switch Won't Have Miiverse Or StreetPass

dumedum

@Donutman so true. Can't believe that stuff is over. Think how amazing it was with Shovel Knight. So sad but they have to be commercial and if they make money and sell units I'll be happy with that even without all the cool stuff. They look at the competition formulae...Same poo upgrade graphics a little let people shoot each other online and it sells not badly.

Re: Nintendo Switch Won't Have Miiverse Or StreetPass

dumedum

@JaxonH you know you're totally wrong. OCD is a major mental disease and huge problem. Being obsessive about stuff is not necessarily OCD and it is a common misconception. Often times people mean OCPD in these forums but they think it's OCD and use the term casually.

Re: Nintendo Switch Won't Have Miiverse Or StreetPass

dumedum

End of an era with respect to the Streetpass is misleading because Reggie says 3DS will coexist so if you believe him this still should run... Now miiverse was available through all platforms and this is disappointing. I feel like miiverse is the coolest thing ever where people could come together and post all their cute drawings and experiences from the game...

Of course I don't know if they'll even ever release a capacitive stylus and all that... But yeah this is sad. It was something so special and unique... Again Wii U shutting down is almost tragic in terms of gaming... No more awesome experiences like Zombi U, like Arkham: AE and like Mass Effect SE. Sure, they were far and between but for me will always be remembered as the best gaming experiences EVER (together with the whole Wii remote as gun as demonstrated with titles like RE 4).

Re: Video: A Reminder That Christmas 1994 Wasn't Just About Donkey Kong Country

dumedum

Interesting. In 1994 I was all about my PC and Donkey Kong Country if I had played it (did not even hear about it) would have seem completely outdated... Like 10 years behind. I'm sure people today say there's a huge graphical difference but seriously... Donkey Kong Country compared to what I was playing as in TIE Fighter and WC: Privateer... Like generations difference. I was rocking the Game Boy though , its limitations accepted for the perfect controls and mobility...
