A series of new Mii clothing items have gone live on the European version of My Nintendo (Edit: they're live in North America, too).
These include a Super Famicom hoodie, bee outfit and viking hat. All three cost 200 Platinum points each.
These rewards will be available until June 1st and can be used to dress your Mii avatar in Miitomo. The Mario costume and Zelda: Twilight Princess Picross rewards are also still available.

That bee suit is mine.
I have to say that I do not like the direction of Nintendo reward points. After the first day of downloading the Nintendo app on my phone I haven't touched it and with rewards like these I won't be too interested. I enjoyed getting games and I hope there are more things like that to come, but so far I am unimpressed with the direction of Nintendo. I understand why giving away digital clothing makes business sense for them, but I wonder about the long term interest of others in this regard (maybe it will work?). Part of the problem is probably how many different currencies there are in the first place and I honestly haven't made too much of an effort to figure it out. I'll hope for the best!
It doesn't take much to get something like the SNES hoodie, but I'd rather just keep saving for bigger, more meaningful prizes than exclusive character cosmetics.
It's only something I'd consider if i were in excess of Platinum Points, and even then.
You got me really excited then, but it's just lame clothes for Miitomo? Dude, not cool! Get ready to NOT spend your Platinum Coins!
@Moon My exact words.
As far as I have time to get Picross and Wario Ware Touched!, I'm fine. And it's being hard, because Miitomo is not available for Windows mobile.
*Only for those with Miitomo available in their region. Still, not tempting.
So far my nintendo is a big disappointment. The only thing even remotely interesting right now is twilight princess picross. I miss club nintendo and it's physical rewards
While I won't be bothered by the OCCASIONAL article of this sort, I don't think this makes for good NL material. If they offer new games, then maybe, but Miitomo outfits are about as far removed from actual gaming as Nintendo gets. So try not to spam us RSS feed folks with articles like this, okay?
Oh, and thank you for adjusting the top menu overlay on scrolling up. The extra delay makes browsing far more tolerable. My suggestion was going to be to place it on the bottom but I'm okay with the change that was made.
I'd much prefer seeing physical rewards. Club Nintendo is still sorely missed by this guy.
Nintendo could start intergating these mii costumes into the mii creators on 3DS and WiiU. I might think about spending out on them.
I ike that SNES Hoodie. Can I get it in real life?
I'll be getting it after Zelda Picross anyway!
I've got enough platinum points for TP Picross or Warioware Touched but I don't have a 3DS. I've already got Wooly World and Pushmo so I can't take advantage of the discounts,so other than these clothes there's literally nothing for me to spend them on. 3DS owners have an incentive to do the missions, for Wii U owners there's is none.
I don't think Miitomo clothing is worth the platinum points. Now that I've bought Zelda Picross, I probably won't spend any more points until new rewards are available.
Well I'm glad there's no other new rewards as those for Miitomo. Living in a country with no access to the app means I'm still only at 550 platinum coins and it will still take me four weeks before I get enough coins for the Twilight Princess Picross.
You had me worried for a second that there was actually something else that I wanted up for grabs now!
Lame. No Super Lame! I thought there was going to be something cool but Miitomo clothes? Really?
Read the headline and taught that they were offering physical clothing like they had before on club Nintendo. Opened the article and see its only virtual stuff for an app. Disappointment takes over. Darn maybe next time.
Meh indeed. This is nice for kids and some people, but not for most of us. I want special edition games, physical items, and limited edition controllers and so on.
And besides that, I'm still doing my weekly logons to be able to buy Hyrule Warriors Picross, which is also starting to become a chore...
@OorWullie When you redeem your points for the 3DS games you get a code to purchase the game with. Mabey you could trade codes with someone for something else. Even other game codes that you can pick up for the wiiu from game shops, some virtual console games are cheap enough to pick up and swap for one of your codes. I'm fine for codes by the way, but I'm sure there are others out there that may do it.
@FlashmanHarry I thought the exact same thing haha.
Seriously, "Get Ready To Spend Points!!!!!!!"... on Miitomo outfits. Click... bait...
@B238ben
1) There are only 2 currencies.
2) You can get games and discounts, too.
@TheRealThanos Dude, do you really think they will give away special editions for free?
Vikings never wore horned helmets, but whatever. I'd prefer some exclusive games over Miitomo clothing. Or credit for DLC, seeing as that doesn't qualify for gold coins. Physical rewards would be even better. Digital is so intangible.
I guess it would be nice to see some fresh threads from Splatoon as Miitomo rewards, ya?
I wonder if we'll ever get coins from "normal" games on console, or if this is just a mobile thing and the next thing is Pokemon Go or something. =/
Oh damn, I'very steady earning points since claiming Zelda Picross and have about 600, I think but I was really hoping for more games alongside WarioWare... there's still time!
I miss Club Nintendo, this new rewards system is far inferior.
More games please.
@BMORRI Of course not. You misread me. If MyNintendo is the new Star Catalog, then you should be able to save points to spend on games and other items. And with special editions (NOT limited editions, mind you. BIG difference) I mean games like the Zelda Collector's Edition on GameCube and such.
MyNintendo hasn't had a good start. This nails the fact down and hopefully doesn't start a lame trend of outfits rather than games.
I unfortunately got bored with miitomo and deleted it for now. It just drained my battery so much and would only work on wifi for some reason
Miitomo has been fun here and there, mostly thanks to my wife and a couple of friends actually having it, but the only reward I've been interested in has been Zelda Picross (the other games are good but I own them all in some form). I never see me using platinum points or real money on Miitomo clothes. Maybe if they served more of a purpose.
Nope. Won't be wasting coins on Miitomo clothes. I've already gotten the Zelda Picross, and i'm back up to 750 coins. Kinda interested in the themes, but holding off for more games.
On another note, I very much hope we can get platinum points in console games and handheld games, not just mobile phone stuff. I think Nintendo is better defined through that then mobile obviously anyway. Then again, they may make too much sense...
My god this new rewards program is such a downgrade over Club Nintendo.
I will keep saving for Zelda Picross or Warioware.
I don't play this game much, but that hoodie is pretty darn cool.
That SNES hoodie is incredible. I'd buy it in real life and I'm gonna buy it in Miitomo as soon as I get home.
@BensonUii Cool, thanks for the clarification. I saw a few articles about it but I hadn't really looked into it.
Someone make a petition on change.org that won't work, these rewards are total crap. No thanks, in saving my points. Spending on Miitomo isn't worth it tbh.
Don't care,I'll keep saving for TP Picross.
I want real rewards.
I have enough coins to get all of those costumes if I wanted to, but I still gotta get the Mario one, Zelda Picross, Warioware (maybe)
If the costumes were something from Splatoon, or was a kangaroo outfit, then I would've spent those coins in a heartbeat!
Ready to spent platinum points? Lol, sure, when there's actually something on that store worth buying. Until then, the coins might as well rot until Nintendo brings the whole program down.
To all of you complaining about how much the new system sucks you do realize that MyNintendo is still in its relative infancy plus alot of it is likely designed with NX in mind. I also dont get why people are so obssessed with physical rewards at least with game downloads its something I will use rather than just another object that sits on my shelf and becomes another dust magnet
@Nego You can get 120 platinum points per week (I'd imagine you don't know since you're still at 550) by loging in eShop, miiverse, My Nintendo (you have to click on the coin near your mii) and Nintendo official site (it doesn't shows on missions, but you do get the points). Each of these earns you 30 points weekly.
Also, its possible to install the miitomo apk from outside Google Play, not sure if they allow you to login with an NNID which isn't from the limited countries though.
I don't think it's worth it. I'm just gonna have to change out of outfit for the daily mission anyway.
Mii clothes?
Yeah, right.
@Moon Exactly... I was hoping for maybe some new VC games or something... I don't really care about miitomo.
You know I really hope Nintendo has some more insight to this at this years E3. I just want them to talk about the new program, what all we can expect in the future ahead, and then that same day release a ton of new rewards. But my biggest hope is that the new Nintendo mobile games will back themselves on both Miitomo and My nintendo. As in that after getting certain achievements you can get new exclusive clothes and gear on Miitomo, or getting platinum or even gold for some of the harder achievment.
And here I thought this article had actual rewards to talk about...
I am using my platinum points for free games and free themes.
with getting something like 250 a week on average, it isn't that hard to get them. I just hope they change them occasionally.
@RennanNT
you can get a lot more than that.
you get :
90 from Eshop, Miiverse, and mynintendo by logging on once a week.
35 from giving 3 answers a day
35 from listening to 10 answers
35 from changing your outfit
70 from people listening to you
70 from getting 5 hearts a day
For a total of 335 points per week if you get all those every day.
I was excited for about five seconds. Then I saw that it was only Meh-tomo clothing....
I can only get games for 3ds with my platinum coins, I don't have a 3ds but I have a Wii u....
I don't mind spending platinum points on Miitomo clothing, but it's kind of expensive, and if you don't have a lot of friends, the points accrue pretty slowly.
But seriously, I want that hoodie in real life.
Side note, I like how much attention Nintendo has given to the old Super Famicom aesthetic in recent years. The brightly colored buttons in the diamond shape are really cool and recognizable. The main reason I was bummed about not initially getting the smaller New 3DS in the US was the fact that the XL didn't have the slick colored buttons. I hope they keep Super Famicom in mind for the design aesthetic of NX.
@crimsontadpoles don't forget they expire in 6 months. Or is that only the gold coins?
Might grab that SNES hoodie since I have Picross already.
I thought there was going to be a discount and/or a game to go with the platinum rewards instead of only Miitomo outfits. Kind of bummed, yet I'll still get the Super Famicom hoodie for the hell of it.
Well at least getting points in My Nintendo is still easier than in Club Nintendo.
@Dark-Luigi My exact disappointment! I was expecting a real super famicon hoodie.
What a fools errand...
quietly goes back to playing original SNES
I'm already bored of Miitomo. I might log on every once in a while and change clothes out of my already established outfits for 5 Platinum coins. It's been a blast while it lasted, but it unfortunately has no long-term appeal.
I won't be bothering with these rewards, I'm saving for when the put on more games. I've got WarioWare touched. Just keeping my platinum points until the next wave of games, good thing that it shouldn't be too long until they update it. At least I hope. It's the only reason I mess with miitomo for a few minutes a day.
I don't understand the gold points in the program. I wish Nintendo would do a better job explaining how to earn gold points. The description on the site is too vague. I kind of want to know amounts for digital games.
Wow, I really want digital stuff which is free for them to make, Nintendo bring back the Mario playing cards, the soft toys, SOMETHING REAL!
Going to hold out for physical goodies, not this junk...
Although, the bee custom does look good, might get one for the girlfriend! Buzzzzy!
Couldn't care less as long as Miitomo is not released globally. It really sucks that Nordic countries have been left out.
I can use the app, but connect it to my Nintendo Account...
I haven't downloaded Miitomo and have zero interest in doing so. It's early, but so far My Nintendo is disappointing.
I'm curious, but does anyone know if you can earn gold coins from Miitomo purchases? Maybe that's why they have that $70 tier that doesn't make sense on the eshop but there is a $75 option for Miitomo.
@Moon exactly
They really should add physical rewards like club Nintendo did. Getting something cool that you can't buy anywhere else was a cool
concept with club Nintendo and I really hope they add more than just digital offers.
@simonthomas6 i don't think they will ever do that again. It's part of the nostalgia now, but that era is over.
@ikki5 (S)He doesn't have miitomo in his/her country, so I didn't count miitomo's.
Also, besides you get extra 30 if you log in www.nintendo.com too (or the right one for your country).
WOW! New clothes for something I will never use. Thanks Nintendo. These rewards are seriously lame.
My.Nintendo is starting to suck already. I knew it would eventually be terrible but it's happening much sooner than anticipated.
I suppose I'll just grab the DK theme before that expires since I'm fine with wearing the sailor/school clothing lol.
Jeez, those outfits should just be in game purchaeable, I'm fine with my current outfits although I like that viking helmet, should of been like 2000 coins or something. Over halfways to get Picross now and I won't be getting the outfits, so far tomo is ok but it's only daily use at the moment is just trying to get My Nintendo coins. Unless if Tomo were to drastically change and be more entertaining, the rewards for it to mii are pointless.
I picked up the Super Famicom hoodie. That said, I probably won't spend any more points on clothes for a virtual mii character until they start putting out the obligatory Animal Crossing ones.
@GN004Nadleeh: Yes, you're right. The platinum points expire after 6 months, so I'll be sure to remember to buy something once the points get close to expiring. I'm hoping they'll put some more games up before the 6 months are up.
Just going to repost my thoughts on My Nintendo since i don't seem to be the only dissatisfied user.
After thinking about it i find it to be pretty broken. Why do you get no points for a 5 dollar purchase? Why does it need to be 7 dollars spent for 10 points? Why is a 13.99 purchase worth as much as a 7 dollar purchase? Why don't i get any points for retail purchases? Although it's admittedly a minor complaint why do i have to click on some bogus button to claim my points for my loyal patronage? How come i didn't get an email with points for my previous Club Nintendo account, that i was many times over platinum on, am i not as valuable as some Nintendo customers?
Club Nintendo had it's flaws but they've just replaced those with new flaws. At lest with Club Nintendo i was rewarded for every purchase retail and lesser ones, i could get physical gifts, i didn't have to do anything for some points, and i could do a survey for extra points. Sure the redemption system could be archaic at times and the survey's kind of sucked, but at least it was fair.
It's an easy fix but it kind of a pisses me off that it's so dumb. Give me points for my retail purchases, those are my biggest purchases. If i have to do some extra work to get my coins for retail purchases i understand that, and if i don't want to it's no worse than it is now. Make every dollar on the eShop worth the same, i.e. 1 dollar =1 point as it's roughly what they're offering instead of some arbitrary BS. Don't treat me like a second class customer and give me the same benefits others are enjoying, like say those points to previous Club Nintendo members.
Also in the future if they are tracking my account activity why not reward players for time played, games beaten, ranking titles on the eShop, ect... At this point it's just a worse but slightly more convenient Club Nintendo. I was excited for the new loyalty program but all it's done is make me feel like i have less of a reason to be loyal.
Why do the screw everything up other than making games? I'm getting tired of it tbh, and i'm one of their biggest fans/customers. The only thing they do better than making games is alienating their fans. My Nintendo's flaws aren't a huge deal but in the context of everything it's another bundle of straw closer to breaking the camels back.
Edit: Also 6 month expiry is ridiculous, as are the amount of Gold Coins needed for some stingy discount. What a joke. But hey at least the site is fast and the network is quick to recognize activity, DeNA seems to have done their job well so why can't Nintendo?
@Kevlar44 Agreed, and the reason it's 7 bucks here to get at least 10 coins is because our dollar sucks, but that makes no sense for this case, treats users here like second class and such.
@Toadsfriend There is a power save mode in Miitomo. Also, it only works for Wi-Fi because it gets questions and answers from the Internet. It is more like Facebook than an actual game.
Hmm, I'll be ignoring this junk along with the discounts for games I already own until 6 months down the line when I realise my points are running out and since I'll still own the games discounts are being offered for, I will begrudgingly buy this nonsense for the Miitomo app I won't have touched for months. Welcome to the future.
The 'Super Famicom hoodie' is the only one I'm considering right now. I like the look of it.
If it's just lame digital clothing rewards, I'm keeping my coins. Will stop hibernating if some digital games get added, however. I hope we see some real excitement soon from this new rewards system or else I might just forget it exists. See ya.
They call this junk a reward? Really?
Am I the only one who thinks the Miiotomo is a complete waste of time..and money if you actually pay for the virtual clothing?
Nintendo should consider re-releasing their own in-house cartridge systemretro system. I bet if they kept it the same SNES, and NES, they wouldn't have to re-negotiate deals with the 3rd parties...and could just go ahead and re-manufacturer and release the games because its for the same system. I refuse to pay $300 for Chrono Trigger - I have no problem playing it for free on my SNES emulator with Blarg RBG filtering!
Meh, Zelda TP Picross isn't interesting for me and I already got both 3DS themes, so I'll just save until something really interesting pops up.... Not Miitomo clothes.
@KTT You get coins that count as platinum coins from MiiTomo.
Meh, don't really care. They are cool and all but I'd rather spend my points on games.
I'll have to wait and see when the new games rotate in what they're offering...
So dramatic on here. Some people will find more value in these rewards than games. Yay for them. For me, I might use them to spend spare points before they expire. It's early yet to judge the system, I think, but I will say I don't like the expiration thing.
Some outfits... I want them. I'm still into miitomo, but I won't spend Platinum points.
I need to save up for Warioware. After then MAYBE I'll get then hoodie...
Feels like i wont have the time to get any of the platinum rewards or at least not all of them up at the moment, with no way to get platinum coins outside of the initial ones unless you have Miitomo, you're stuck with the weekly wiimeverse and eshop login... not sure Nintendo thought this through at all.
@TheRealThanos
Hey! I have that game! came with my gamecube. (^_^ )
The bee suit looks cute, but I'm saving my points for the Zelda picross game.
@R-L-A-George I can't get those. Miitomo wasn't released in my country.
@TheRealThanos Righto gotcha now.
What baffles me is people are complaining about extremely easy to get absolutely free coins that give you access to 2 games for free and outfits that people would likely pay real money for.
I don't get it.
I think these special outfits should be Miimoto-only purchases, but if people want to spend Platinum Points on them that's fine by me.mI'll save mine up for things that are actually worthwhile.
However, where exactly can you spend real money in Miimoto? I've never noticed this. I have the app set to United Kingdom. Not that I plan on spending real money on it.
@RennanNT Of course I know that you can get 120 platinum coins a week. It's why I have the amount of coins I do afterall (currently 670). I got to 280 on the launch day and by making dummy facebook/twitter/g+ accounts I got to 310 coins. Apart from the launch week there's only been three weeks to collect coins right now. That's 120+120+120=360. Add to that launch week and you get 360+310=670. If you take the current week away (since you replied before Monday) you get 670-120=550.
So I don't know how you thought I didn't know I could get 120 platinum coins every week when it's the only method available for me to get the coins.
Even if I were to be able to use a foreign version of Miitomo, I most likely still would not be able to reap on the rewards. The Miitomo missions do not show up for on the My Nintendo website since the app is not available in my country.
@Nego Because I had around 500 points before doing anything related to Miitomo, so I'd imagine people without Miitomo would be around 750 by then. But that was because I had a club nintendo account and received a 200 platinum code for that. Totally forgot that until I looked to my points history.
