@Moon why not just d/l it from the US shop if you want it now?
@mystman12 The Wiiware version of World of Goo always had multiplayer (up to 4 people on same Wii).
@IceClimbers Yes, it's basically two versions in one. Pointer, and touch control when handheld.
@Paddle1 I'm not assuming anything. Iwata Asks etc is PR. If you have a specific example that you think proves your point, you can show it. But you don't. All we know is that Nintendo is choosing to focus on games right now, and that's a good thing in my opinion, and gamers should be thankful for that. The fact they will be coming later when they have more time and less urgency exactly supports this conclusion and only this conclusion.
@Paddle1 that's your assumption without knowledge. For all we know,. Nintendo staff could be collapsing under the pressure of what they have to produce, and any waste of time could lead to Mario Odyssey being thrown to 2021. It might for example require resources way beyond their capabilities to release this year and they have to cut anything and everything even plausible and redundant.
Nice review. I hope it brings the metacritic score up, it was at 96 Having said that, I think Switch is the way to go. That could have been up to debate if they just put a map on the Gamepad... just that small optional map on the screen - put it on the gamepad or some other touches like brilliantly done by some titles...
Yes, Nintendo should add to the Switch a web browser, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube app, Netflix, Hulu, Shmulu, all sorts of crap, yes. What? What is that? The next Zelda quality game will be delayed indefinitely while they work on that? 🤔
I love how all these games are still console exclusive to Nintendo. World of Goo is an amazing game which I bought a couple of times , best for the Wii... Little inferno bought for Wii U and liked it until I got stuck. Definitely time to try out HRM too.
@2CUTE4YOU people are saying that this is usually the case and sometimes even out of the box they get 10 or 20 hearts in BOTW. Not sure. Going to try that. Maybe scan it to TP first to increase chances
Switch is a huge upgrade over the Wii U in terms of power. Many developers are saying so.
Compared to PS4? I don't know. But PS4 is selling for $258 or something like that on Amazon right now. It is completely outdated and old, and $400 laptops can do better. Maybe Pro is stronger though, but PS4 at this point is pretty much junk. Even it's a little better than Switch, which I doubt, it's not portable, which is the only really good reason today to get a console in the first place rather than PC.
@JaxonH cool 😁 but there's no way I'll be able to do it. I'll mess it up. Even reading it I know I won't be able to do it... I'd love for someone competent to do it for me though, I believe you.
My recommendations:
Yes on Zelda of course.
Yes on Nintendo carry case.
Yes on Pro controller.
No on Grip or extra joycons at this point.
No on SD Card (why? because wait until you really filled that 32GB FIRST and then prices will have gone down anyway, that is if you don't want to use small cards that you must already have already)
No on screen protector (why? I don't like them. Between dust, bubbles and other annoying things, they also always make the touchscreen less sensitive, less bright/pretty and just a pain in general, also now with the dock needing space too.... )
Maybe on the battery charger - never considered that before.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
@improviser i think many people who own a Switch also own a Wii U (e.g., me), and the point is they should be busy playing Zelda instead of answering polls.
Through Wireless Play, multiple Nintendo Switch consoles can be connected to each other, allowing up to eight people to play together in the same room.
The problem is the Internet. A good thing in general people just write up nonsense, make up stuff or sometimes really have problems but are such a small fraction of a percentage that it's meaningless. Nintendo was doing all it can to avoid this...
They made a huge game that will take you forever to play and yanked the internet browser away from the console , but people still went on to read the fake news.
@Ernest_The_Crab pretty amazing how Japanese like to leave the real Zelda love to the West... There's something just not Japanese enough about it. But I imagine Nintendo dreaming about a 50 million Japanese crowd waiting to storm the Switch like an army from Armageddon for when Switch will see an exclusive huge Monster Hunter. They will bet their entire company on that.
The idea that Nintendo, with its limited resources, and having to roll a new console ahead of normal time because of disappointing sales of the Wii U, and managing to create a home console experience on a portable for the first time in history, and the joycon multiplayer HD rumble features, and having Zelda BOTW (one of the best games of all times according to reviews) play on it as if it was made for it, so far into the development of the game, and having more games ready, and working on a real sequel to SMG to be released this year, and all the other games it is working on, and working on games for the 3DS and for its Mobile platform, and the amiibo and what not, and at the same time, that it should have wasted resources to have services that are on every smartphone, tablet and smart tv there already to be ready on launch, knowing that its fans really would prefer games, and would complain if there wasn't enough, is absolutely asinine.
@Spoony_Tech exactly. I had no issues, for me this is completely imaginary. I do use the Pro a lot though. Anyway, those suggesting to buy the console later, yeah, real smart, except then there will be other games and I'll never get to properly play Zelda BOTW. It happened before.. you wait you buy consoles years later and then you have no time to play so many games you would have wanted. Very little time. Lots of cool Nintendo games. Lots of Zelda games too.'
Incidentally, if this is an actual issue with my left joy con (and my TV is much closer than 30 feet or 20 feet so I can't see how it will ever be even if this is all true....), by the time this ever becomes an issue I imagine I will have a few more left joycons hanging around, and from the imaginary hyptohesis here they might be "fixed" (just looking at the number of different colored wii remotes I bought).
@DBPirate no, not anymore than the myriad of imaginary issues that inflicted all other consoles every launch... it's the internet (so something affecting 0.01% of the demographic looks huge).
@brutalpanda you're missing the point. It doesn't matter if this is an actual problem in the practical sense... it matters in the sense of obsessive people who like to imagine stuff/complain about video game consoles or Nintendo and so on.. the audience here is not... very typical. You have to walk all over to the neighbor, then use the joycon behind your back, lift your left leg, right hand, while titling your head upward and have someone scratch your nose at the same time - then it, sometimes, maybe, not positively, but certainly in the realm of remote possibility, loses connection for some people or so some people have heard and it's a BIG BIG issue.
@capitalism indeed, that's true for every generation though. Also some people cannot appreciate the small cool stuff like the Wii Remote Speaker, controlling the TV with the Wii U and so on.. Nintendo always has unique stuff. And now the Portability is obvious but what about this Realistic Rumble... that thing, a sort of HD for your Touch sense, probably not cheap and probably be imitated later.
@HeroOfTime32 exactly. "a tablet is running a PS4PRO game this well."
@capitalism "What we need to take away from this comparison is that Switch can handle PS4 ports and it can achieve parity" exactly.
in other words, amazing achievement by Nintendo. I can't believe I have such a powerful portable device (for only $300), and with all the Nintendo buttons and triggers and everything, it's pretty awesome when you think about it.
@Aneira that's paranoid. It went millions of tests. This if anything is a small glitch easily fixed. They can literally do almost anything with online fixes to the firmware.
Imagine if they released Super Mario Odeysey at the same time and it had the same reviews as the SMGs.... The trailer has tens of millions of views... Mario and Zelda can produce unique special results that really no company can imitate with this success. I imagine it can be very frustrating for Nintendo's competitors trying to figure out the "secret" formulae for decades.
I'm interested in the ping pong game. How does that work? How do you know where the ball is if you can't see it? Is it accurate?
Also, can this game (or a non insignificant number of the mini games or at least two fun ones) be understood by a 3-year old you think? In that case I'm definitely buying it.
@jwfurness wait, what? you know this is a Nintendo game? It may happen but it may never happen too, and then it will be sold out and you'll need to pay ridiculous amounts for it from third parties ($90+). And the eshop version will probably never decrease in value. That's the sole reason I'm thinking of getting it, because of the 15% Amazon discount making it $40.
As for pack in, or not, tough question. But I think there might be merit in the concept that if it's a pack in, too many idiots will think this is what Switch is all about and won't make any other games for it. As a sidenote, I think Nintendo made the right choice here, but maybe it should have been cheaper..... like a $25 fun pack, why not. Or bundled with more joycons too, like Wii Play, that's a winner.
That is objectively an amazing list. You know from the Wii U that whatever happens it's going to be 🍹an indie heaven. I love the loyalty of many of the indie developers. Wii U? Sure. Oh, Switch now? Sure here it is. Nothing of the sort of "if it does well, we will consider it", "not currently but who knows", "we are not sure it is the right fit, we are constantly looking at all options" ... They're just there when you need them.
Nothing beats the originals but so glad this is so loyal to Nintendo.... I remember some even thought Runner 2 will skip Wii U and here we are with Runner 3 with those awesome guys again... they made WiiWare so fun, and they're still here.
@Ralek85 excellent point I haven't even considered. Parents can decide whether their kids can be trusted with phones or tablets. If a parent decides his/her kid can just play games for now, he can control this. Especially with the game time limit app too. Safest product in the market. Brilliant that they thought of this.
EDIT: this could indeed be just a case of the 3DS situation where the internet browser wasn't available at launch, and that's it, making this almost a non story.
I love how people will freak out about this Honestly though, internet browsing with Wii U is the sweetest thing, the way you can have a song playing in the background and open another tab... only otherwise possible through PC's and not through the crappy tablets/phones... still , I trust Nintendo with what they're concocting here.
Not too interested in online gaming really for most games, no time and all.. I will get it surely if they give me games I want or other perks and cool Nintendo stuff though (I miss Club Nintendo ), but will not pay if it's the awful mentality of others of "you get these games but they disappear once you stop paying". No way.

@Paddle1 not true... they have a lot of coordination stuff, sessions, meetings, planning how to fit into the GUI and so. All a big waste.

Yes, Nintendo should add to the Switch a web browser, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube app, Netflix, Hulu, Shmulu, all sorts of crap, yes. What? What is that? The next Zelda quality game will be delayed indefinitely while they work on that? 🤔

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Switch Has Started Well - Now the Real Challenge Begins
@cfgk24 honestly, I don't know how they do it. There is so much uncertainty and risk with every console launch.
For how long will they keep the 3DS? Will there ever be a 3DS successor? Will there be a Switch 2? What will they do next?
@JaxonH just don't spill that coffee... and that's a nice Zelda case, congrats
Isn't two hand grip basically a version of the Wii - Nunchuk? I loved that setup... but I also really dig the Pro controller at the moment.
Re: Guide: What Each Zelda amiibo Does In The Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
Each one works once a day? So Wolf Link if I use with TP in the middle it will write in and Wolf will be upgraded version later?
