Today on the Nintendo Direct showcasing 3DS and Nintendo Switch titles, not one, not two, but three new Kirby titles were announced for the Nintendo 3DS. Retaining the stereotype that Nintendo likes to mark the end of its console support with a multitude of Kirby titles.
The first of which is releasing exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS eShop. Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, is free-to-start and supports up to four player co-operative play; it seems to be an expanded spin-off from the equivalent minigame in Kirby: Planet Robobot. The following class choices for Kirby were shown off as well - Sword Hero, Hammer Lord, Beam Mage, and one Doctor Healmore.
Team Kirby Clash Deluxe releases today on the Nintendo 3DS eShop.
Next up, is Kirby's Blowout Blast, an action-puzzle game featuring 25 3D stages. This title is also digital-only, and will release on the Nintendo 3DS this summer.
Lastly, the announcement for an upcoming multiplayer Kirby game was also imparted. We don't know many details apart from the release window, but we've been promised to hear more information soon. This new 3DS Kirby project will be releasing later this year.
Unfortunately, Nintendo didn't share any details regarding any possibility regarding a Nintendo Switch Kirby game. However, don't put the possibility out of the window just yet, as there's plenty of room for announcements at this year's E3. Regardless, what's your favourite Kirby game out of the ones announced today?

It is times like this that I wish 'Brawl in the Family was still a thing. Matthew would have a field day making comics for this. Happy anniversary pink guy!
I'm hoping for a 3d Kirby platformer to be announced for the Switch at this year's E3.
So Kirby gets anniversary recognition and new games, but screw Samus? 😡😡
Yesssss! Finally! I hope that new Kirby game is online because I've wanted a multiplayer Kirby game in the same vein as Return to Dreamland & Amazing Mirror for ages!
Meanwhile Samus is floating alone in space.forgetten on her anniversary
Guys, c'mon cool it - E3 is still a thing here. Remember? Surprises?
Clash seems alright, it's freemium, sadly it probably won't be updated and such to keep people playing, at least I don't need planetrobo to get special stuff like fighters.
EDIT: Nm, if you own planetrobo, you get special armor and weapon, not as important like in fighters with 2 abilities and area.
When I first saw this in the list, I was hoping they were going to another collection of old Kirby games for the Switch. The 20th anniversary pack was great
@ThatNyteDaez I'm cool believe me. I'm just a little upset that Samus didn't get Any recognition on her anniversary.
Decent! Meanwhile, I still haven't played triple deluxe and planet robobot!
Me and my friends are going to have so much fun with the new Kirby game! I"m excited.
@liljmoore All I'm saying is that the year isn't over yet, and E3 is literally two months away. Chances are it'll get announced then and get a release date around Holiday season, if there is a Metroid game. Just don't give up right this second.
I'll try this game but it pains me that is on 3DS.
@Hirsbrunner They've been teasing Metroid Prime 4 in Corruption and Fed. Force. I doubt the series is dead. It's just... hit a few road bumps.
This was fantastic news. A new Kirby game for the Switch, announced at E3, would be the icing on the cake.
Needs more Switch.
@Kayfios From your lips to Nintendo's ears. I hope you're right.
@Jessica286
Yup, same. If there was a Switch version, it'd be an instant purchase, I've moved on from 3DS (and Vita and any other portable device) at this point. The Switch simply puts them all to shame.
i love kirby
For the 25 anniversary it's not much for me until they announce the other title.
@Hirsbrunner kirby does deserve it more
@ThatNyteDaez Except Samus' anniversary was in 2016, so that's already passed.
already put an hour into FTP kirby clash, this is gonna be a big time waster I suspect
Oh my gosh. I actually have something legit I can work off of!
Kirby Air Ride 2 confirmed!
Downloading Team Kirby Clash Deluxe right now!
@mystman12 this would get me about as close as possible to buying the switch before mario odyssey comes out
A have a feeling the Wii U stylus-controlled Kirby game will also be ported to the 3DS this year, but among these, i like the look of Blowout Blast the most, it looks interesting.
For the Switch i really want a 3D Kirby platformer at long last, it has huge potential, i'd also like Yoshi and DK to get 3D instalments as well, i do enjoy all of these in 2D but they have a lot of potential to be amazing 3D platformers and Nintendo seems to be more ambitious with their Switch projects so far compared to Wii U so now is the perfect time to move some of their 2D focused franchises into 3D i feel.
@ap0001 Sadly this announcement is for 3DS, so if by some miracle it actually is KAR2... Despite it not being on Switch, I'll take what I can get!
Oh great, you celebrate a franchise's 25th anniversary that isn't Mario, Zelda or Pokemon and what do you do? Release a F2P title and an eShop only title! Not that I had any particular wishes in regards to this anniversary but this just feels cheap. Oh well, at least they acknowledge a franchise's anniversary, right, Samus?
3d Kirby for Switch please
It would be cool for a Kirby 3D platform game. Maybe someday.
I want every Kirby game to date for the Switch please and pink joycons also❣️
back before the announcement of the switch, I was hoping the multiplayer ones like Kirby Fighters Deluxe would be released as an HD eShop exclusive because I think it would make for an awesome couch multiplayer game...now that the Switch is out, they should release all these standalone games as an HD bundle on the Switch...anyone else agree or think that'd be a good idea??
Great news for any Kirby fan but I do hope the franchise is having a switch release this year as well.
@JedRock
I buy that bundle if it happens
How can this be Year of the Kirby if there's nothing for Switch?
The following comment is part of my "I missed the Direct, but this counts as highlights to me" series of wondrous comments of hypeation.
Well, a F2P version of Team Kirby Clash with what appears to be a "best of" of Kirby bosses? Count me in!!
@Ryu_Niiyama
Man, how true.
I'll give Clash a spin and I look forward to the review
Like the look of the puzzler actually.
@Hirsbrunner Truth be told, I did finish making a Magolor Perler sprite the day before the Direct:
Then Magolor appeared in Kirby Clash Deluxe:
If it helps, maybe I'll make a Samus Perler sprite next.
Another multiplayer game?
@Hirsbrunner The problem I feel is that one of the fathers of Samus is dead (a long time ago) and the other one doesn't really care about her.
Miyamoto has worked with the Metroid IP (he started up the Prime series) but I don't think he really considers her to be one of his "children" (like Mario and Link).
Kirby is also Hal's mascot character, whom Iwata himself worked at before becoming president, so there's plenty of significance there as well. If I remember right Iwata, Miyamoto and Sakurai were also big fans of the Kirby character.
Blimey. Kirby gets milked more than Mario.
@Hirsbrunner To be fair, Kirby has had A LOT MORE games than the Metroid franchise.
@Ernest_The_Crab Yup, that's definitely a major factor. Star Fox keeps coming back despite underperforming every time because Miyamoto actually likes the series, for example. Metroid doesn't have that privilege, sadly.
Nevertheless, I'm positive we'll see a new entry in the franchise this E3. Not Prime 4, making an educated guess, but something Metroid-related regardless.
@Arnold-Kage heck, it doesnt even have to be anything spectacular....just polish it up with some HD graphics (I'll even be ok with Wii standard graphics) and just add a few more varieties of Kirby to play as and I think it'll be great

@JedRock
All to true
I wonder what that new Multiplayer Kirby game will be like... will it be online perhaps? Have a nice story mode? Looking forward to it since I loved Robobot!
All throw-away titles, I guess. Hopefully Switch does get a super strong Kirby someday. Needless to say, the high days for the 3DS are over (for me at least).
I'm hoping that this new Multiplayer Kirby game is like "Amazing Mirror" and "Return to Dreamland", and not another spin-off game like "Kirby Air Ride" and "Kirby and the Rainbow Curse" because I like my Kirby game fun and adventurous also I really hate the whole touch control thing. As for Kirby on the Switch we probably won't be seeing a Kirby game on the new system until maybe next year or later in 2019, but when we do get a Kirby game for the Switch I hope it will be an open world action adventure game and not another spin-off.
Off topic: The 3DS is still a good handheld system and the Switch will not replace it in my opinion.
