Re: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl Are Out Today On Switch, Which Version Are You Getting?

dBackLash

I have really good memories of the first 3 Pokémon games, but Pokémon SwSh destroyed all my chilhood dreams of being a Pokémon trainer.

The whole game felt like I was following a soulless script. Every aspect of the game felt forced:
The 'rival' is just your best friend that is hardly trying to he a better trainer then you. Yet he keeps reminding that he's your 'rival' because a rival is part of the Pokémon formula.
Same with Team Yell, never did they actually feel intimidating but the game needs a group of bad guys.

It was no longer a vibrant world where Pokémon play an integral role in the daily lives of people. Sure Pidgeot wasn't the greatest attacker but I sure cared about him because he used to fly me all over the world. Chansey was great because she helped me heal my team.
During my Pokémon SwSh playthrough I never felt a connection with any of my pokémon, they were just tools for combat, it might as well have been actual sword that you discard the moment you find a better one.

I miss having to actually put any work in your team, it was a pain to level the abra's and magikarp but when they finally evolve it's all worth it!
In Pokémon SwSh I had several lvl 70+ Pokémon that had never even seen battle, just because of the mandatory XP share and the game was giving out xp candy at every corner.

So long story short, no, I'm not getting the remakes nor am excited for any upcoming Pokémon release. If Legends: Arceus turns out the be a 9 or a 10 I'll happily jump back on the Pokémon train, but for now I have no faith anymore.

Re: Square Enix Is The Next Company To Embrace NFTs And Blockchain Gaming

dBackLash

Guess people here like to bash on things they don't understand. NFTs aren't a bad thing. It would be great if they could be implemented so we could trade/sell digital games or ingame goods.

Also the environmental cost is only about NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain, there a tons of other blockchains that don't use insane ammounts of energy that are also used for NFTs. And Ethereum itself is switching to proof-of-stake wich cuts it's power usage by over 90%.

Re: First Impressions: For Better Or Worse, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl Look Like Extremely Safe Remakes

dBackLash

I wonder if there's any challenge in this game or whether it's like SwSh or Let's Go, where it felt impossible to lose a single battle.
Ever since the succes of Pokémon Go the mainline games seem to cater much more to kids and non-gamers.
I might give it a try if it reviews well, but as it seems I'd rather track down a DS copy and play the original.

Re: Soapbox: Joy-Con Aren't Perfect, But They're Great For Sick Day Gaming

dBackLash

I've always hated the joy-cons, they feel so tiny and cheap. Designed to have multiple functions that all feel mediocre instead of doing 1 thing really well. Everytime I went back to my WiiU the gamepad felt like the best controller ever, just because I was used to the joy-cons.
When my original joy-cons started to drift I got myself the hori split-pad and even though it's to big and clunky for me I'm never going back to regular joy-cons.

Re: Every Nintendo Switch Online N64 Game Ranked

dBackLash

The only games I'm intrested in are Paper Mario and possibly Sin & Punishment. N64 was my least favorite Nintendo console (not including virtual boy). I'm probably gonna skip for now and reconsider when there are more games that I like.

Re: Toshiba Sounds Alarm About Ongoing Chip Supply Issues

dBackLash

@nimnio It's not just the lack of materials. In my hometown we got one of the only companies in the world that manufactures the machines to produce chips. Even tho they are constantly expanding they haven't been able to keep up with the demand for the last 5-10 years or so.

Re: New PEGI Gambling Criteria Means Remakes Of Old Pokémon Games Could Be Rated 18+

dBackLash

I think there's only a very small percentage of people that are gonna get triggered by these ingame casino's. People that are strugling with a (previous) gambling addiction. Most of wich are 18+ anyway.
I really wonder if there are any legitimate studies out there that measure the effects of these fake casino's on children, and what the results are.

Imo it's good to have a warning on the box that there's gambling in the game but I really don't think a 18+ rating is neccesary at all.

Now time to focus on the real issue and ban lootboxes.
