Re: There Are Now Well Over 250 Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Combinations

dBackLash

I've always hated the joycons, even before I had any drifting issues. Everything about it just feels incredibely cheap, the joystick feels pretty mediocre, the grip sucks.

Sharing the joycons for multiplayer games is even worse, unplayable for me.

The only redeeming quality is that the motion controls work really well, to bad there are very few games that actually utilizes it.

While I do appreciate all the ideas that Nintendo was going for, the end result is an overpriced piece of garbage that's either sub-optimal or terrible depending on how you want to use it.

Pro controller all the way for me.

Re: Pokémon Clone Temtem Is So Successful Its Servers Are Crumbling Under Demand

dBackLash

Pretty sure that a big part of temtem's succes is due to sword and shield being pretty mediocre, leaving players wanting more.

So far I've been playing temtem for 3 hours and it has been a lot of fun. I really like the art-style and the combat system seems like a lot of fun.

Whether is got the staying power that sw/sh lacks has yet to been seen, but don't sleep on this title.

Re: Hands On: Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore Could Give The Game The Second Chance It Deserves

dBackLash

The game is pretty mediocore.
While the combat system is amazing, it just isn't good enough to carry the rest of the game.

The dungeons are incrediblely tedious, the puzzles are fairly easy and consist mostly of walking to a point, flip a switch and walk back. It always feels like having to walk for an excessive ammount (with encounters everywhere ofcourse).

The sidequests are just laughably bad. You get the most rediculous reasons to kill 5 monsters in a dungeon. Other sidequests include running all around the city to find an item that they eventually don't want.
Even when the world is about to end in the main story, they still ask you to check on a celebrity chef because he's been "acting strange" like you have nothing better to do. This really kills the immersiveness of the story.

Overal the game is still decent, just highly overrated. I love both Jpop and JRPG's, but the game was just to tedious for me to finish it.

Re: Feature: Inside The World Of Pokémon ROM Hacks

dBackLash

@PACO_PEREZ first of all, it is legal.

Secondly, there is a very big difference between building onto an existing game and programming a game from scratch.
So assuming they could just as easily make their own game is pretty stupid, there is so much more required to do so.

Thirdly, they make them because they love pokémon, there is a whole community that create and play them.
I'm not familiar with the pokémon romhack community, but I know that in the mario romhack community there are hacks being created for specific players, people going back and forth creating challenging or troll levels for each other. You won't have this kind of dynamic if you create a bad indie title.

Re: Reggie Says Nintendo Competes For Consumer Time, Not Concerned About Direct Competition

@jsty3105
I do work closely with advertising companies and I do know what you're talking about.
It generally takes between 7 and 12 impressions from different sources to drive a sale (only around 2% are made after just 1 impression).
This however assumes customers having little knowledge or experience about about the product or brand.

For example most nintendo-fans will know in 1 to 3 impressions whether they are gonna buy a new mario game or not. Based on previous experiences with nintendo and mario games they can probably conclude if they will enjoy the game or not.
This is often true with sequels and DLC.

Another thing to consider is that 1 impression can lead to more impressions. If you are anything like me then you'll likely start looking up more info and reviews if you see any game that looks interesting.
In cases like this a single impression can result in a sale.

What the actual effects on sales are from adding entertainment services is almost impossible to calculate.
But in my opinion it will definitely increase the views on Nintendo's own news articles and will very likely increase the amount of times people will scroll through the e-shop (a good way to procrastinate).

@Kirgo
You are wrong on this matter. There is money to be made just for having netflix on your console.

1) Everytime you start up your switch you will see a few news stories or what' s on sale this week. The more often you see a certain game name pop up, the more likely you are to check it out or buy it. So they miss a lot of free marketing this way.

2)When you are watching netflix in bed or on the couch and decide you want to play some games you are much more likely to do so on the console you're currently watching on then grab a new console and possibly have to switch cables around.

Personally I play a lot more on my Wii-U since I have netflix and less on my switch. Just because my Wii-U is the only console I own that also has acces to netflix. If I owned a PS4 I'm pretty sure I would spend way more time on the PS4 then on the switch and buy most indie games on the PS4 over the switch, just because the PS4 offers a better user experience.

Re: Top Pokémon GO Player Has Account Suspended For Violating Terms Of Service

@subpopz
What kind of god complex are you talking about? He violated the terms of service, got banned and he' s ok with it.
He has a pretty good attitude towards it imo.

As for his services, no, it isn' t the right thing to do and it hurts the game slightly.
But when people are literary throwing money at him for playing the game he was playing anyway it' s really hard to turn it down.
I believe that almost anyone that isn' t affiliated with Niantic/Nintendo would make the same decision.

Re: Nintendo Enforces Takedown Of Fan-Made Game Creator Pokémon Essentials

dBackLash

@Syrek24 actually there have been lots of studies done in the last few years that actually suggest that people who pirate videogames spend more money on games then people that dont pirate...

And I really don' t think you understand anything about these communities. We are talking about people spending months or even years building their own pokemon games and then putting it online for free for other fans to enjoy.
They arent getting money for it, they aren' t getting any fame outside of that community.
There is zero reason to spend so much time on building tour own pokemon games unless you are really passionate about pokemon.

Re: Nintendo Enforces Takedown Of Fan-Made Game Creator Pokémon Essentials

dBackLash

@Ashunera84 It' s more likely they increase the IPs profits by actively promoting it.
People playing those fan-made games are most likely people that have played all games and are hungry for more content or people who dont own a nintendo system so can't play any of the games. The latter ones will be encouraged to get a 3ds or a switch this way.

Re: Is 'Switch Tax' A Real Concern, Or Just A Myth?

dBackLash

@ThanosReXXX I think you' re taking the term tax to literally lol. It just refers to games being more expensive on average on the switch, it doesnt in any way imply that nintendo or any other company is taking a big chunk of profit.

And while it is understandable that developers have more costs to port a game to the switch as a gamer it' s crazy to spend more money to play the same game but now with worse graphics and framerate issues.

Re: Review: Hand of Fate 2 (Switch eShop)

@JasmineDragon
It' s nothing like dominion or anything, it' s really similar to pathfinder adventure card game if you' re familiar with that.

You move over a board with face down cards. Each card will trigger a certain kind of event. For example it can be a shop where you can buy or sell equipment and food or you could find a broken down foodcart and have the choice to either help the man or to steal his food.

You can build the deck before any mission, so you have a bit of influence over what you' re gonna get. In some missions you' re gonna need a lot of gold while in other you want more food.

There are also cards that that unlock other cards when certain conditions are met, think of something like a card has a merchant that let' s you buy a treasure map for a lot of gold. Most games you can' t afford it and are forced to just move on. When you finally can afford it it gives you a new card that you can put in your deck for the next game.
The next game you get the card and it leads you to a smuglers den, guarded by a band of thieves. Kill all the thieves and you might get a really powerful new weapon that you can put in your equipment deck so you can get it in your next adventures (I made up this specific scenario, but you can expect something similiar to this).

Unlocking new cards makes the game really enjoying and even if you are stuck on a particulair mission, at least you have some sense of progress.

The only issues I have with the game is that the battle system is complete trash in my opinion. Movement feels really awkward and most of the battle is clicking the right button as it pops on the screen, very much like a quick-time event.

Other than that, definatly pick it up!
