Re: Talking Point: How Good Are You At Games?

dBackLash

I used to be pretty competitive in multiplayer games and beating all singleplayer games on the highest difficulty.

But since my 30s I lost all my will to compete and give up on most games when they get to complicated or tedious. I really don't enjoy gaming as much as I used to anymore.

Re: Random: Elon Musk Appears On Saturday Night Live As Wario

@Mountain_Man Nah there is a saying in crypto: buy the rumour, sell the news.
Basicly when a big event is coming up, in this case Elon promoting DogeCoin on SNL, people are massively buying in the days/weeks beforehand, so when the actual event happens the price of the coin is already too far inflated, big holders with massive profits start dumping them. Basicly preying on inexperienced traders that expect the price to skyrocket.

A lot of traders I know were actually shorting DogeCoin on saturday.

Re: Soapbox: It's Time To Normalise Giving Up On Games Early

I had to force myself to complete Trails of Cold Steel last month. The last hour of the game was amazing, but the 60+ hours of mediocrity that you have to go through to reach the ending was definitely not worth it.
Next time I won't feel bad about quitting midway through.

Re: Nihon Falcom Is Celebrating Its 40th Anniversary With A Special Broadcast

I'm really conflicted on the first ToCS, the first 60-70 hours of the game were pretty mediocre. Just an incredibly slow Jrpg where all quest are either fetch quest, kill xx of a certain monster, kill a big baddy or talk to some random people.
Everytime the story was picking up some pace they go back to the boring school sextion of the game.
Only the last hour of the game was really phenomenal, but to sit through 60+ hours of bland content is really not worth it imo

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch Pro "Will Have Exclusives", Says Insider

dBackLash

What's the point in slightly upgrading? So we can finally get ports of last gen PS or Xbox games?
The only way big multiplatform releases come to switch seems to be cloud versions anyway.

I doubt a switch pro will fix any issues that the switch currently has (joy-con drift, unplayable online funtionality and terrible e-shop) since Nintendo is too arrogant to admit it was poorly designed in the first place.

So I much rather just get a switch 2 then some lousy upgrade.

Re: Eight-Year-Old Becomes Youngest Ever Pro Fortnite Player

@WallyWest The skills you develop competing in e-sports at the top level probably will make you succeed in any environment. It requires very strong discipline and self reflection. Knowing how to practice in the most efficient matter. Perform under heavy pressure and having to constantly study the metagame to stay on top or ahead of it.

It's easy for most of the pro's to just switch games and compete on the top level in a few years (or just play poker and rake in millions).
Also more and more companies are seeing the value in hiring gamers, for example pro starcraft player SeleCT was offered an internship purely based on his e-sport performances.

Really the biggest worry is wether he can actually succeed in fortnite in the first place.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 27th)

dBackLash

I've been binge watching Steins;Gate on Netflix after playing the VN 6 months ago. It reminded me how good VN actually can be.
So this weekend I'll be starting on Danganronpa 2, hopefully it will be as good as the first one.

Other than that I have some fun with Rage 2 since I picked it up for free at Epic Gamestore last week.

I'm stuck at Ori and the Will of the Wisps at some bosses on hard mode, they are really frustrating and tedious. So I'm contemplating wether to push through or just restart the game on normal and waste another 10 hours.

Re: Octopath Traveler Has Now Sold 2.5 Million Copies Worldwide

I hated the game from the start. None of the characters are really likeable, they all seem overly positive all the time.
Random encounters feel like they take forever and whaterver teamcomp I use, it always feels like it works well.
Story was really shallow and uninteresting.
Although I have to say the music and visuals were great.

Halfway through I picked up Xenoblade 2 and never even thought about booting Octopath back up.
