Re: Soapbox: The Modern Games Industry Has A Hype Problem, And It Needs To Stop

dBackLash

For me I lose interest really fast if there's a lot of time between the initial hype and the release.
Often I'm done with a game already before it's even launched.
A good example is Monster Hunter Rise, I was really excited when the demo dropped, played it a bunch and watched a ton of content on youtube. Now they released a new trailer and it's still a few months away and I really don't care anymore.

I don't think companies should be hyping up their games this much untill a month before release, people just don't have that big of a concentration span.

But I guess hype directly correlates to stock values and shareholders only care about money.

Re: Ubisoft To Show More Love To Free-To-Play Titles Moving Forward

Some of my most played games are F2P.
They tend to have more updates and the devs actually listen to the community in a lot of cases.
As long as all of the PvE content is manageable for F2P players it's fine in my book.

Then again ubisoft has predatory microtransactions in some of their full price games, so it will probably suck.

Re: Activision Blizzard Says Overwatch 2 Won't Be Released This Year

dBackLash

Don't expect too much from it, blizzard right now is a trainwreck.

Their last major release was full lies, false advertisements and they unlawfully tried to prevent customers from getting refunds.

They stopped supporting heroes of the storm e-sports and basicly screwed over anybody who was working in that scéne.

All the starcraft 2 developers left to form their own studio because the CEO didn't feel like it was making enough money, despite it still being hugely populair in korea.

Then theres ofc the blitzchung controversy and diablo fans gad to settle for a mobile game that nobody wanted.

Blizzard just doesn't care about their games or the fanbase anymore. My expectations for OW2 and Diablo 4 are that they will be lazy cashgrabs that's full of pay2progress microtransactions.

Re: Soapbox: Video Game Injuries Are No Laughing Matter

dBackLash

Last year I got some injuries from playing bass. It started with this tingling feeling in my hand when playing parts where I have to really stretch my fingers. Later it started to hurt, even when I wasn't playing.
Luckily I didn't try to play through the pain and identified it was RSI before it got really bad.
I took a break for 4-6 months and fixed my technique so I don't play with a bend wrist anymore.

Re: Where To Pre-Order Bravely Default II

dBackLash

After 1 hour of playing the demo I'm still kinda undecided wether I like it or not. I was also pretty dissapointed with Octopath Traveler so I'm definitely not going to risk it with a pre-order.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 9th)

dBackLash

Tried the monster hunter demo and so far it seems pretty good. I will most likely wait for the pc version tho.
I'm also playing my way through Trails of Cold Steel (the first one).
And it's not my new years resolution, but if I get at least 30 minutes of Ring Fit squeezed in this weekend I'm pretty happy.
