It looks like Remedy Entertainment - the creator of Control - might be bringing its action-adventure game, Alan Wake Remastered, across to the Nintendo Switch.
A new listing on the Brazil Advisory Rating Board suggests the title is en route to Nintendo's hybrid platform in some way or form. Being the "remastered" version, there's the possibility it could be a cloud release - just like Control.
In the announcement trailer earlier this month, the platforms mentioned included Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC - so keep in mind, a Switch release has not been officially confirmed.
Here's a bit about the improvements in the remaster:
"Experience improved visuals, enhanced character models and richer environmental details in a remaster of Remedy Entertainment’s classic game. Alan Wake Remastered includes the main game and its two story expansions - The Signal and The Writer - with the complete experience rendered in 4K visuals."
The Alan Wake remaster launches next month on October 5th, so fingers crossed a Switch version is on the way. Have you played this Xbox 360 classic? Would you be interested in playing the remaster on Nintendo's system? Tell us down below.

Great game.
I really enjoyed it.
I will grab it again on my PS4.
Glad more people get to play it.
Please Remedy, No cloud. I would rather have a physical Switch port of the original version than a cloud version of the Remaster.
If this is cloud based, count me out. I’ll buy it on another system if that’s the case.
It’s gonna be cloud based. 100%
@SSGodLink I really hope it doesn’t become cloud version too. I can understand Control being in cloud for Switch. That game is way too taxing and it barely even runs at 30 FPS on Xbox One and PS4
Please, Alan Wake come to Brazil and Switch
I get why control and guardians of the galaxy are cloud ports as they are newly created games with decent graphics but Alan wake? Surely they can port this on cartridge
@Wavey84 well, they made a game called Control and it's set in the same universe as Alan Wake. the game even had DLC that involved Alan Wake. since the original game was a 360 exclusive, not many gamers got to play it but now they can next month!
@KiraMoonvalley it's gonna be $29.99
...but would they actually do a port of the Ps4 version or would they just port the original version? I assume the former, but the latter would be much easier and potentially would play better on Switch anyway (since they wouldn't have to risk compromises to FPS).
It's not cloud was listed as cartridge and digital and here in Brazil the connection is very bad for Switch cloud games.
Eh, this could be native to Switch since it's based on a 360 game, but I guess you never know.
Probably a cloud version, if that, then will pass the Switch version.
Just like any other remastered PS3/Xbox 360 Game that goes to Switch, since the Switch is basically a PS3 Pro, I’m not getting why people think this is going to be a cloud game.
Please no cloud version. I'd rather just get a straight up port of the original in that case.
I'll buy it if it runs decent on Switch, if it's just a cloud version then that will be an automatic no thanks from me.
@Wavey84 lots of people loved the game. Not sure how Dead Space and Alan Wake are correlated. Different publisher and dev.
@KiraMoonvalley it's 30 bucks... At least that's what it is for PlayStation and Xbox.
Anybody actually get control(cloud) on the switch? Would love to know the, rough estimates, of cloud games "bought" on switch.
looks like a very outdated ps1 game
Was a fun game back in the day, not worth a replay though and I oppose this horrible new fad of rereleasing games due to the entertainment business going stagnant with little to nothing actually new.
@xshinox It was also available on PC but not many people play games on computer, so I don't see a reason why this game shouldn't be remastered and not released on all platforms.
@UglyCasanova
It’s not even an idea problem it’s the end result of the console generation concept, a dev could do a trilogy or more of games on PS2 and even PS3 to just barely 2 games on PS4 so what’s gonna happen now?
Nope, will be buying it on PS5 so I can play that then jump straight into Control after... Trophys alone makes me choose PS over anything 100% even XB with Achievements, seriously Nintendo you need a Trophy/Achievement System but then again they can barley figure out Online 😂 🤷♂️
I was really keen the get the spin off dlc game American nightmare. If this does come to switch I might pick it up. If it runs properly, isn't $60 and isn't cloud based of course.
Alan wake!? Yes please!
@Wavey84 Those are two completely different companies.
@KiraMoonvalley Unless you are buying it in multiple systems, you won't have to. It's not a full price release.
@Wavey84 it's literally called Alan Wake Remastered, it's not a remake.
Peeps today are just like "hold up, let me talk before reading".
i believe this might be a 50/50 chance thing.
If they bring it to cloud, they would already be aware that not so many people would like that and that it might cause problems due to people not always having great wifi or people just want to play even when they're offline (and especially casual gamers who arent into newspages might not even know or understand what the difference is)
And the other way would be to take the 360 version and create a hybrid between this and the remaster, how they did it with Skyrim on the Switch. This would be more effort on the production side but also sell better.
Of course I'd prefer the latter, but if "sell better" still wouldn't be above a certain margin, it might still not justify the effort.
I think it would be a native port as all the other 7th gen remasters have been native ports on the Switch. Cloud versions have so far only really been new games from the XB1X/PS4 Pro era onwards.
@xshinox "since the original game was a 360 exclusive, not many gamers got to play it"
What? Alan Wake was on Xbox 360, not Wii U. The final tally for Xbox 360 was 84 million consoles sold.
All these remasters lately have been of varying quality, usually they end up being worse then the original.
If it reviews well I might get it for pc, if not I'll just replay the original.
@WhiteUmbrella who said it was on wii u? not i
You have to think these cloud versions must be super cheap to run, because I've yet to hear of anyone who has accessed them beyond the demo's. There is far better solutions that people have access to (other consoles, PC, XB gamepass) than relying on Ninty's 'slightly dodgy' WiFi connection.
But I do wonder if it points to the idea we're getting a Direct soon?
@Wavey84 You a Dead Space Remaster would be running at 60fps and 1080p on Switch? In your dreams.
@Dman10 @SSGodLink
The Switch needs cloud to run a Xbox 360 remaster?
I'm convinced some of ya'll think the Switch is no more powerful than a Sega Dreamcast.
@Wavey84 I prefer Alan Wake over Dead space.
Not many games have this Twin peaks/Stephen King vibe to it and this game introduced me to Nick Cave and the bad seeds for which I am thankfull.
@Dethmunk Well Bioshock ran at 30 fps on Switch, same with the Xbox 360 version of it. Also I don't know much about Alan Wake at all so yeah.
Control, I can understand being in the cloud considering it barely runs at 30 fps on the base ps4 and Xbox One S
@Wavey84 one is EA another is Remedy.
One company just doesn't care the Switch while the other tries to but has no choice but bring the game(Control) to cloud
@westman98 I'm literally one of the Switch's biggest champions when it comes to touting it's capabilities. I'm constantly correcting people that think it is as powerful or weaker than a PS360. The increased RAM alone is enough to make a game 6 times bigger than on those consoles. However, I don't trust Remedy to do something awesome like make an optimized AW remaster port for Switch. My presumption is they will do a half-arsed shoddy Cloud version and be like, "See we support the Switch."👏😀
I wonder if all the Verizon ads and product placement will still be in it. I hope not. Loved the game and my one major gripe was the weird forced Verizon junk in it.
Will get this on Switch if it's not a cloud game. Else I'll get it in a Steam sale if I decide to finalize my Steam Deck preorder.
Finally. This is still fantastic game. Remedy did amazing work on this one. Its warping visuals still unbeatable for the atmosphere. Thrilling experience. Can;t wait. Now, bring the Silent Hill and Red Dead Redemption to Switch and I can rest in piece..
Don't know why some folks are so convinced this will be a cloud version. It's a 360 game... "Worst case" the Switch version will just be more of a straight port of the original with all the DLC. It'll still probably have the remastered upgrades, just won't look as good as the power console versions, obviously.
I am on board for this.
@Wavey84 Dead Space in 720p and 30fps would be no less a marvel for Nintendo Switch. But EA! You simply cannot expect from them.
@Wavey84 I've been waiting years for it so I'm very excited. I'll get it for Switch and PS4. I'd also love to have Dead Space on the Switch too!
@KiraMoonvalley It's only $30 on the other coasters so I doubt it would be $60 on the Switch
@mp_72 @CodyMKW
Silent Hill 2 would be amazing on Switch!
This was my favourite game on the Xbox 360. A truly one of a kind experience that I hope Switch owners will be able to enjoy without being limited to a cloud version.
@UglyCasanova Rereleasing games is a new fad? Have you just started playing video games because remasters and collections have been a thing for decades.
@CodyMKW I wanna know what PS1 games you've been playing. Lol
@PhhhCough I bought it and enjoyed it.
SO, where is AW release for Switch. Its 5.10 ???
@mercilessrobot there is no product placement in the game at all. Little fun fact people actually like the product placement in the game because it makes it feel like it’s taking place in our world.
@westman98 we are in a world where Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and 2.5 which were on PLAYSTATION 3 and it is getting a cloud version on Switch so anything is possible at this point
@McflyBR where was it shown, it isn't a cloud version and if so please send link?
@UltimateOtaku91 probably digital download only natively then.
Also I noticed that the ESRB does not rate Switch cloud versions of games apparently. Couldn’t find a rating for Guardians of galaxy and Control for Switch which are both cloud versions.
Alan wake remastered is listed for Switch on the rating. Which means it will be native but it might be digital only
