Bayonetta

This kind of flimsy rumour is something we'd normally toss right in the "terrible ideas for a news post" pile, but... it is Nintendo Direct day, and suddenly we find ourselves digging through the same pile for evidence of what to expect. You see, right before a Direct, much like the eye of a storm, the normal news cycle goes dead silent, and we're left to speculate.

One of our sources is the Nintendo Switch eShop itself, which begins to clear space for all the new game deliveries that are about to happen — and what should we spy during a routine check, but Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 prominently displayed on the EU eShop front page? How very interesting. What could it mean?

Now, you're probably already typing out a draft of Ten Reasons Why Nintendo Life Is Grasping At Straws, but it sure is intriguing to see two old games sandwiched in-between Eastward (a new release), WarioWare: Get It Together! (a new and first-party release), as well as Mario Golf: Super Rush and Monster Hunter Stories 2, both of which came out in June.

Bayo 1 and 2, for reference, came to the Switch back in 2018, and it sure has been a while since we've heard news about Bayonetta 3. Just sayin'.

Of course, it could be nothing. It probably is nothing. But if it's not nothing? We'll feel terribly smart.

The rest of the Discover page on the eShop is pretty standard, although we did spy Shin Megami Tensei V on there, which has a November 11th release date — so we could be hearing more about that in tonight's Direct, too.

Don't forget to tune into our live blog later today, where you can mercilessly make fun of us for spinning rumours out of nothing.
