@Steel76 I must be the only one who loves the "tank controls" (rotating in place). Both Tomb Raider and Croc: Legend of the Gobbos were criticized for these controls, while I find them very precise. Maybe it's because Croc was my very first 3D game in my life.
Switch is such a perfect concept that I'd love Nintendo to just improve it instead of going somewhere else. I never liked double screen to be honest, it was a distraction.
I love it how Kirby and the Forgotten Land goes from a very easy game to an almost extreme challenge if you're trying to 100% it. I did and it was fun.
I'm a digital boy. Never had a physical game for the Switch. I know it's financially bad to do it like me, but I somehow enjoy collecting games and always having access to them. I have a 1 TB card in my console.
Finally! Golden Sun is one of my most beloved games ever. I was a kid when I was so hyped about it, reading news about it, then playing on the emulator and finally buying it for my GBA. It's one of these games that don't disappoint when you compare them to your expectations, at least for me. I only played the sequel briefly and it seems to lack the magic of the original, but I'll give it a chance on Switch.
Banjo-Kazooie is a wonderful game, but it's nowhere near "perfect", let's be real. The camera work is some of the worst ones I have ever seen in any game and controls are pretty awkward too. Magical game nevertheless, but let's not pretend it doesn't have its serious issues.
This is one of the examples where it doesn't matter what people WANT. People addicted to drugs want drugs, but it doesn't mean that drugs do any good to the world. I hope all this in-game money BS goes away soon (I'm naive, I know).
I'd love Nintendo to improve the balance of randomness. MK8 already improved it a lot, but it's still far from perfect. Being hit by a blue shell right before the finishing line is something that should not happen. Either remove the blue shell or make dodging it more possible. Or perhaps make it less likely in the final lap, I don't know, but it just feels wrong to lose a race like that.
@JONOFTHEJONS I disagree there. Keep in mind that Nintendo knows their hardware best and if it requires for a game to have complex optimization to achieve 60 FPS in a 2D game, it means that the hardware is pretty weak. We should be rating performance by an average game, not by the best optimized games. It's expensive to optimize and also makes the code much harder to maintain. There should always be door for less than optimal code to run full 60fps in high resolutions. I personally hate it when all responsibility for good performance goes to game devs. They are not idiots, trust me. The fact that you CAN clean entire house with a toothbrush doesn't mean that the toothbrush is a good tool for that.
@HalBailman you really use some twisted thinking pattern about these modes. 150cc was never hard in 3D era? Not sure about that neither, because I played MK7 not long ago and even when my driving was near perfect, sometimes I lost due to bad luck (being hit all the time).
@HalBailman I'm quite confused. You call one mode too easy to be called hard, while you call the hardest mode special and too hard to be called hard? It's up to you what you call what, but as far as I know, 200cc is just a hard mode in MK8. I know it used to be 150cc in previous games, but 150cc in MK8 is easier now. 200cc is a bit harder than 150cc was in previous games, but it's by no means a "special" mode in my opinion. It just requires you to use braking technique, which is actually a great fun and challenge once you get used to it (brake drifting is cool, but takes practice, as you need to coordinate drifting, turning, acceleration and braking). Also, please consider 3 stars as completing the Grand Prix, including 3 stars in 200cc. That's your challenge you were looking for. I played almost all of Mario Kart games and I think that the only game which got the difficulty right is MK8. The others are way too unfair and random.
This is the best wave, hands down. You can tell they gave it so much love, every single track is polished, which has never happened in any other wave before. It makes some tracks (like New York Minute or Tokyo Blur) look like a joke in comparison. Also the new characters are somewhat more expressive and fun.
@HalBailman by winning, you mean you got gold or you got 3 stars? Also, you need to consider 200cc the hard mode, not 150cc. I was scared by 200cc at first, but now I only play 200cc. It takes practice, but is doable. The first great tip I got was to use Y instead of A to accelerate in 200cc, because it makes braking button (B) much more accessible.
My favorite genre of them all. I got many platformers on Switch, but my most beloved ones are Super Mario Odyssey and Celeste, by far. Silver medal goes to Super Mario 3D World and bronze goes to Rayman Legends. Kirby and the Forgotten Land comes fourth.
I'm surprised that build quality is not mentioned much. The way joy cons wiggle and are attached poorly is just unacceptable. Also the plastic quality is quite bad.
@Boschania I wish I knew that before I bought it. It makes me believe that reviewers don't even test things properly, but just repeat things that other reviews said. All reviews that I've read before buying said that Pro Controller was perfect.
@mlt it's because the D-pad of Pro Controller is fine in games where you only use left and right (and up and down only occasionally, without tight timing). This is the case in Mario games. But try dashing in Celeste (which is 8-directional) using this D-pad, you'll get furious.
I have a Pro Controller and I was shocked when I found out how bad its D-Pad was. Playing Celeste with it was literally impossible, as quick presses are interpreted wrong. For example, quick up and then right is interpreted as up AND right. Joy Con's D-Pad is million times more reliable. I don't understand why reviews of Pro Controller never mention this flaw, because it's rather crucial.
@AndroidiOS it does not. You're trying to redefine piracy through some mental gymnastics assuming that people think deeply before they download a game for free. It doesn't work like that, whether you like it or not. And to be clear - I always buy original digital games. But I'm not pretending I analyze Nintendo's profits when I play games.
Do you guys fall into trap thinking that the newest system is always stable until the next update? This is flawed thinking and I do that too. Subconsciously I believe that, when the next update comes, something bad happens to the previous version. In the reality they just found some flaw, so the system was never that stable. It's the same for 17.0.0, it's not that stable at all. Just wanted to share how, in my opinion, our minds work.
I would buy a digital-only one, but I'm aware I'm a minority here. If anything, that should be only an option. I'm a heavily mobile person and that's the only reason why I avoid physical games. I know my lifestyle comes with its cost though.
I'm playing Leisure Suit Larry - Wet Dreams Dry Twice that I left off for quite some time and now I decided to finish it. It's a pretty good, but also a very buggy game.
@FishyS I'm a platform games lover, not a noobie (I completed Celeste and its aftergame, for example) and in my opinion completing 100% of Kirby Forgotten Land is actually very challenging. Some of these final bosses are seriously hard. I mean in Wild Mode, haven't touched the Easy one.
I purchased MK11: Ultimate a while ago, but I just can't play it on Switch. It looks terrible in handheld mode and this is the way I'm playing 99% of the time. Like come on, Switch is not THAT weak, they clearly didn't want to invest money in optimizing it. This is why I'm waiting for Switch 2, as I expect it to reach the point where even unoptimized game would look fine.
@Mortenb yeah, exactly. NSMB is like an amateurish game that was given high budget. It has this kind of vibe that weak platformer games have, where every level feels like something to be done rather than an exciting adventure.
@LikelySatan nah, it's just that I assumed that the game would be as boring as these older games. I'm also not a fan of this art style. But maybe Wonder would be different.

Lovely shade of pink.

@banado27 I also absolutely love Vale theme and the world map theme!

@sanderev SSD's are cheap, but not for Apple. 1 TB of additional storage costs as much as almost 2 Switch consoles in Apple's universe XD

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Kirby: Forgotten Land and Super Mario Wonder are actually very hard if you want to 100% them.
