Re: Feature: Nintendo Life eShop Selects (June 2026)

I completed The Drifter. It's a quite good story, but the game itself is not that great. I disagree with the reviews praising it. I'm an adventure game fan and some of the games in that genre are designed well and some are not. The Drifter is definitely a poorly designed adventure game. Playing it feels more like a chore than pleasure, because the authors clearly don't understand the genre. It's one of those "guess what the authors wanted you to do" ones. You often have multiple similar objects in the inventory and thus can think of many ways to proceed, but nooo - only one works, often illogical one. Also, sometimes the first attempt won't work, so they want you to try again without communicating clearly. Result? It's not only click everything on everything, but click everything on everything TWICE. That being said, some chapters were better than others, I liked it more near the end.

What? This is not true. Nintendo was always popular in Poland. Yes, we used to have a dupe of NES called Pegazus, but people knew it's Nintendo's dupe even back then. I'd say that Nintendo's products used to be too expensive in Poland for most people and that's why they didn't sell as much as in some other countries. But saying that Nintendo wasn't popular is not true.

@Hwatt I'm Polish and lektor is natural for me. It's actually a good concept. Lektor's voice needs to be neutral and it serves as translation, while original track is means to show you actor's emotions. You focus on the lektor, but you also hear if the actor speaks quietly or shouts etc. I think it's much better than the cheap dubbing that TV stations do in other countries. In Poland we love lektors' voices, they are also old school when it comes to their work ethic. Lektors have perfect enunciation.

@kal_el_07241 perhaps it's about the time like you said. I was late to the party when it comes Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World. I grew up playing Super Mario Bros and Super Mario 64. I like the simplicity of these games and I also love the newer Mario games, like Super Mario Odyssey or Super Mario Wonder. The thing I don't like about World or 3 is that it's neither simple or complex enough to be fun for me. These games are too random and I also don't like the art style in them.

Re: Talking Point: How Do You Play NES Games These Days?

@Anti-Matter

Used to be I played NES games when I was kid, despite by using pirated cartridge with 100 games in 1 including the bootlegs like Kungfu Mario.
But I have no longer interest with NES games anymore.
I have no longer interest with retro 8 bit games.

I'm calling 911 right now. 😤😜

This article actually made me sad. It's the price we pay for insanely easy access to information, which is relatively new for humanity. The magic is gone, everything is awaiting to be spoiled just around the corner. And like someone said above - yes, we don't need to look. But knowing it's there doesn't come for free, mentally.

@Mattock1987 I'm somewhere between a casual player and a pro player - I race on 200cc in MK8 easily, but I usually don't win online, because I'm not THAT dedicated to the game and I don't know all the shortcuts etc. That being said, there are many people who play Mario Kart a lot and we should let them speak. If they don't like the change, they know what they're saying. If I don't eat pickles, I don't go and tell pickle lovers to shut up when the biggest pickle brand changes the recipe for worse.

@undeadly can you please explain your thought process when you say "Nobody is forcing you to buy it"? I can't get my head around folks who think this fixes anything about the problems people complain about. Like for example, there's an influencer who's considered a bad example for children and then some people think it fixes the problem when they say "but nobody's forced to watch". Like WTF?
