So I'm not commenting on the pricing or NSO or any of that jazz as a little preamble. Holy ***** it's amazing how many of the 125 commenters before me have such clear firsthand knowledge of "awful" the Virtual Boy was and completely irredeemable its library apparently is. Like holy ***** this is super cool just from a games preservation perspective. This is 15 games that are basically impossible to play anywhere else that are now available. How about giving it a shot before writing off the entire thing? Sorry if I'm not one to take mid 90s gaming journalist as immutable distributers of truth.
I honestly have no intention to buy any physical games for the Switch 2. I don't think I've bought anything aside from digital and a couple of discounted physical games for the system in a couple of years.
I counted 45 different characters in the trailer, so we're already almost to MK8's roster size in just the reveal. I'm really looking forward to the direct, the game looks like a great time.
The potential for a modern dual screen console is insanely massive that I feel like this would honestly be a game changer. Trying to not get my hopes up over a rumor, but damn this would be dope.
I'm honestly super excited for these. The Avatar The Last Airbender announcement has me pretty excited too. I've had to come to terms with just buying the stuff I like and ignoring the things that don't do it for me, like Duskmourne and Aetherdrift. I'm really looking forward to Dragonstorm though.
Longtime fan of Civ here that's got 51 hours in the game so far here. I just want to dissuade people from picking up the game at launch, they have a lot of work to do to get the game up to snuff. There's a fun core gameplay loop in there, but it is by far the least polished entry in the series at launch. I do have confidence that Firaxis will get it there though.
I feel like it depends on how much people latch onto all the admittedly weird design documents. I feel like other than that most of the stuff doesn't really matter all that much. Most of it just ends up being a curiosity to be archived.
Hey, great article. I'm sorry to see people being so unpleasant in the comments, but know that your work is appreciated and that it at least meant something to me.
I have a really hard time believing anything this guy puts out there. Like sure, they were accurate about a bunch of Sega stuff, but they've just kinda suddenly become an expert on everything Nintendo is doing with their new console? Seems less than genuine, I feel like these leakers get a little bit of attention and then start making stuff up to keep themselves relevant.
Man, that demo was incredibly lacklustre. I can't say I expected anything too crazy, but I definitely expected more than just pressing A over and over again. It also kinda feels like the theater setting makes the game feel a little low stakes compared to the kind of things Mario and Luigi tend to be dealing with.
As a late life Partners showcase? That was outstanding, the Switch is on the way out and between the American and Japanese versions of the direct, I saw a ton of games that made me excited for the time the Switch has left. I feel like people that are particularly disappointed likely had fairly unrealistic expectations of the show.
@Coversnail So they've released a variety of concept artwork for hiring pushes at different points. As far as anything official is concerned though, they don't have anything specific presently in the works. The fantasy art was likely to get people on board for their support studio that works on Zelda games, but even that is just speculation, we honestly don't know what they have in the works aside from more Xenoblade at some point.
I'm very torn on this one. I love that they exist and I'll probably try to get some. However, the sets feel a little bit lazy almost? Like I'm glad they aren't too expensive, but they also don't really feel like Animal Crossing set pieces from a proportion stand point.
I feel like a lot of people are overlooking the fact that DLSS can do a lot to make games look way better than they should. Like the console wouldn't need to be as powerful as the Serieses or PS5 if it was using DLSS, that would also improve battery life by requiring less demanding specs. It's kinda like magic science cheating, which is a great angle for Nintendo to use for more direct competition on the fidelity side of things.
@__jamiie gotta agree with you on the racist angle. Like Mario and Luigi are almost inherently stereotypes, not particularly negative or offensive; but still, rude depictions of an entire nation full of people. Kinda glad the movie pulled back the voice angle, I never really had an issue with Martinet's performance, but it's hard to justify what is honestly not that different than stuff from early Speedy Gonzales cartoons or Mickey Rooney in Breakfast at Tiffany's in 2023. Also just gotta throw this out there, no clue why people are so attached to the guy that says "Wahoo". I'm not trying to be rude, I think Martinet is really talented, but his roles in Mario games are a massive waste of his skills as a voice actor, see Parthunax.
See, now that was an actually decent trailer. I feel like that would have made a far better impact at the Pokemon presents than what they showed. I just want more concrete details on what we're actually doing in the stories.
They're already sold out in stores that haven't opened yet, so I'm guessing I won't be able to get my hands on them any time soon. Gotta love the scum of the earth scalpers selling them everywhere for double the price.
Gotta go with the NES versions, but only because the limitations kinda defined the art. Like, the remakes are great, and probably better overall, but the original vision of those games is so massively influential that I can't make an argument for them not being the best way to experience the games.
@burgerkingsauce this is the comment I was looking for. As much as I'd love my purchases to carry over, I'd love it even more if the NSO consoles were directly ported over. I'm really tired of Nintendo acting like letting me play Super Mario Bros on a new console is something to be excited about.

Re: Nintendo And Pokémon File Lawsuit Against Palworld Developer Pocketpair
Didn't a bunch of the pals have underlying framework and animations that were clearly stolen from Pokemon games?

Well, I guess it's time to stop buying sealed magic cards.
Re: Random: Zelda: TOTK Meets Super Mario 64 In Latest Ridiculous Ultrahand Creation
@Olliemar28 TFW I thought Baldur's Gate III was too cringey to get more than a couple hours in.

Re: Nintendo Switch Ending Support For Social Media Platform 'X' Next month
Good riddance.
Re: Random: BAFTA's 'Iconic Game Characters' Poll Has Us Scratching Our Heads
I mean, I feel like Pikachu should probably have won by a landslide if we're talking about public awareness.
Re: Poll: So, Do You Prefer Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Or Tears Of The Kingdom?
Ironically, I haven't finished TotK yet, but I definitely enjoyed it more than BotW.
Re: Capcom Shares Results Of The Monster Hunter 20th Anniversary 'Top Monster' Poll
Lagiacrus being in Third place is just perfect. Also good for Zinogre, it's dope as hell, never heard of the other one, haha.
Re: Overwatch 2 Announces Collab With Legendary Anime 'Cowboy Bebop'
Is it bad that I'd rather they Collab with Fortnite? Not even because I particularly care about Fortnite, it would just be less weird.

Re: Poll: How Much Internal Storage Would Be Reasonable For 'Switch 2'?
256 seems like a decent sweet spot. Obviously more would be great, but this is Nintendo we're talking about and they'll want to keep prices low.
Re: WTF: What Exactly Is This Switch eShop Garbage, Nintendo?
Seems like even more evidence that Nintendo's internal focus has almost completely moved onto whatever's coming next.
Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Year In Review 2023 - Our Most Played Games
I played like 110 hours of Tears of the Kingdom, but it was beaten out by Fire Emblem Engage at about 130.
Re: Undertale Creator Toby Fox Remixed Ed Sheeran's Pokémon Song In The New Scarlet & Violet DLC
@abdias Did you actually finish the game?
Re: Feature: The Best Smash Bros. Ultimate Character Trailers, Ranked By You
@LadyCharlie I really like SNK's games, but I had to vote for the Sephiroth trailer because it was just the hypest ***** ever.
Re: Poll: What Is Your Favourite Character Reveal Trailer For Super Smash Bros. Ultimate?
Sephiroth might not be my favorite character that was added, but his trailer was the hypest *****.
Re: Best Zelda Games Of All Time
That Zelda II slander makes me sad.
Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate That Nintendo Indie World Showcase?
My biggest take away was that the Switch is definitely getting replaced sooner than later.
Re: Masahiro Sakurai Is Teaming Up With 'Retro Game Master' For YouTube Crossover
I find it kind of hilarious that people thought it would be a Western YouTuber.
Re: Random: Nintendo Gives Princess Peach Some Facial Tweaks In 'Showtime!' Key Art
Really good change. Peach is like the most generic princess ever, anything to give her a bit more character is great in my book.
Re: Disney Boss Reportedly Being Urged To Acquire A Major Game Publisher
See they almost need to, Chapek really ***** them over in this sector.
Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Director (Sort Of) Explains What Happened To Sheikah Tech
I don't know why anyone really even cares. Zelda lore is absurdly inconsistent and is rarely treated as anything more than an afterthought.

Re: Talking Point: What Are Your Hopes For Animal Crossing LEGO?
Is it terrible that I'd unironically prefer mini-fig blind bags for this?
Re: Nintendo President Reiterates Switch Software Support Into FY24/25
Well that's disappointing.
Re: Poll: Hasn't Nintendo Always Been An 'Entertainment' Company?
I mean, video games are just the thing they got internationally famous for. It's never been their only line of business.

Re: Monolith Soft Profits Almost Doubled In Fiscal Year Ending March 2023
