The Game Awards take place this week and host Geoff Keighley has revealed that Nintendo is going to hold a special eShop sale to mark the event.
It's not known exactly which titles will be included in the sale but it would be fair to predict that all Nintendo-related Game Award nominees should be featured. Fire Emblem Fates and Monster Hunter Generations are both in the "Best Mobile / Handheld" category (the former also has a nod for the "Best Strategy" award), while Xenoblade Chronicles X is in with a shout for "Best RPG". Elsewhere, Pokkén Tournament is featured in the fighter category, and Zelda: Breath of the Wild is listed as one of the fan-picked "Most Anticipated" games - that obviously won't be included in the eShop sale as it's not out until next year, but we could potentially see other Zelda games getting discounts as a result.
The Game Awards 2016 take place on Thursday 1st December at the Microsoft Theatre, Los Angeles.

Lets hope it's better than Europe's Black Friday sale.
I wonder what the chances are of us seeing something Switch related?Or possibly a new Zelda trailer?
Lets be honest. Uncharted 4, Witcher DLC, and Overwstch. I say the last two as my master race housemates wont shut up about em, and Uncharted 4 because dont ignore Naughty Dog even though their style of game has become a little too frequent.
Nolan North for best VA because Nolan North is Nolan North and...iunno. The rest is the rest. We aint coming out of this one feeling good kids.
after seeing terrible deals over black Friday I don't hold any hope this will be anything amazing
@BLP_Software Zelda will probably win the most anticipated game though, especially since it's chosen by fans.It won "Best of show" at the last E3 too.
@OorWullie anticipated game is a stupid category. It means, game i wish would come out sooner than it is.
Not a big fan of these awards in general.
I wouldn't personally put some of the games in the categories they've put them in, especially when they already appear in other categories... seems a bit biased towards those games.
I also dislike handheld and mobile gaming being combined into one category, as they are different styles of gaming that deserve to be treated as such... plus, the Switch is just going to further complicate the matter, as it will allow far more games to be put into that category.
I think this will be another embarrassing sale.
In an event like this, I don't expect a very good sales announcement.
It can only be better than the Black Friday deals, where I was enticed to buy 0 games.
Given that their discounts often pale compared to Steam/PSN/Xbox and the fact that I already owns most games up for sale (because I'm hardcore, devoted, crazy), I don't anticipate I'll get any games this go-around.
That said, I did pick up Paper Jam in the summer for $20 on an eShop sale (surprising, since the game was only 6 months old at the time).
Been wanting to get Xenoblade X for awhile so I'm hoping I can get a decent price on it
@DragonEleven the mobile/handheld thing drives me crazy too. They should be separate.
Likely US only sale, as The Game Awards is in the US. Most of Europe will be asleep during the Awards show.
I guess they will offer discounts on Generations, Fates and all their DLC.
I have the games and I don't buy DLC so...
I recommend getting fates if you haven't yet.
How about some VC and DLC sales? I have my eye on several SNES 3ds and GBA Wii U titles as well as all the smash dlc
I'm going to be at the game awards in person, I can't wait!
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Can you please explain why not racing to the bottom is embarrassing? Why it's bad not to join in training gamers to wait for ever larger and more quickly arriving discounts? Why standing behind your product and insisting it has value is a conspiracy?
@SLIGEACH_EIRE only time will tell,
the other sale in NA at least isn't bad, the only game I want is Fast Racing NEO which is 50% off, which is great, sadly the EU market gets a physical version instead, and not sure if I should continue to hold out for some hope....
it would be great if we got a wii u breath of the wild demo and a new trailer at the game awards this year
Probably just the nominated games, bar BOTW, so that if they win, people can be more tempted to pick the game up as both a nominee and on sale.
Thought HOPEFULLY maybe other games in those series too? Please stop being afraid to discount VC games Nintendo....
Hold your horses! 20% of certain games! They are a bit like Disney, where their dvd's are always very expensive.
No sale will be good enough for the vocal.
I barely care about Nintendo's sales anymore since the Black Friday one.
Hard decisions, should I stay up for TGA live and only get like 3 hours sleep or should I get like 6 hours sleep and get the news when I wake up.
Í hope Nolan North wins. it's the last time he's playing Nathan Drake! His signature role!
Also, I'm just there for Mass Effect
Xenoblade!
Xenoblade!
Xenoblade!
Xenoblade Chronicles for Best Graphics and Best RPG of the year!
In before it's America only.
Sadly, I doubt it will be something worthwhile. Nintendo doesn't seem to truly understand what is a sale.
Yay, 5% off everything I already own. You've done it again Nintendo!
I bet this will be the sale.
$17.99 Paddington Bear
20% Gunvolt
10%Code of Princess
$9.99 Word Search (regularly $29.99)
$4.79 Pazuzu
Really want to get discounted Xenoblade X, but not sure if I want the digital version, as I don't have enough space and don't want to buy a hard drive or memory card just for this game :/
@Priceless_Spork Don't forget soccer up online, it's only on discount like... all year long!
Please let it be Fates... Please let it be Fates... Please let it be Fates...
@OorWullie zero, why would we at an award ceremony?
@YANDMAN There's usually quite a lot of exclusive footage and some times reveals at it.More so from Sony and Microsoft than Nintendo but 2 years ago we got the first proper look at Zelda at this awards show. The year before that it was Cranky Kong haha. Not sure if you seen the news after this article was posted but it's been confirmed now that there'll be exclusive new footage of Zelda. If it's just a trailer, every chance it'll be from the Switch version whether they confirm it to be or not.
No i havent seen that. to be honest though im not bothered. i actually dont want to see anything more of Zelda, there are hourts and hours of it everywhere already. Im looking forward to playing the game and experiencing it myself.
So, uh, where's the sale? I didn't see anything new marked down yesterday.
