Wayforward did a great job with Contra 4. It looked and played like a progression of the Konami in house prequel.

I’m not so sure about the graphical style, but if anyone is in doubt about this one, they can at least try the demo before they pre order.

I highly doubt they have a case here, however agree with a previous comment that they will go heavy on the litigation and Yuzu Team will be unable to pay the required legal fees to defend themselves.

Anything new from Sunsoft is worth supporting and anything Hebereke is an extra bonus.

My distributor in Japan has maintained definite 2024 release, but could be as late as November.

I'm keeping an open mind, however he has well placed sources within the Japanese domestic distribution chain.

The entire form factor goes way back, long before the Switch was conceived. Tablet style devices from Archos and JXD were available for almost a decade before switch was released. Razer also made a table with connectable controls years earlier. Even the original PSP is similar in may respects.

@TrainerX493 There aren't many Japanese text light action games which don't receive a worldwide release these days. Probably why NL have little need to review import titles.

I made my living selling easy to play Japanese exclusives, but due to virtualy simultaneous worldwide release its far more difficult now.

After TOTK, this was my favourite game of 2023 for Switch. If any game should get a translation it should definitely be this, however it really doesn't matter as it's perfectly playable as-is.

Here’s hoping they eventually add an offline mode so the game can still be enjoyed once the servers are switched off.

Could they be porting Forgotten Land to switch 2? That is a game which could benefit from the extra power.

@StAmbrosius just follow the evercade blueprint and make an inexpensive console with boxed games. Make the physical copies exclusive, then allow them to release on other systems digital only at a later date.

@Steel76 they made a new space harrier title in 2000 exclusively for the arcade called Planet Harriers. That would be a great title to release for the home.

@Serpenterror I'm fully in agreement from a business perspective, however from the old school SEGA fan inside, I'd love nothing more than a niche console with beautifully packaged, exclusive games sold at a premium price. Think along the lines of a scaled up evercade system.

They don't need to compete with the big 3 in order to turn a profit.

The Switch is having a strong run up to Christmas.

Such a shame this was the final gameboy Vania title.

Also a shame that KCE Nagoya ported the Saturn version of SOTN. It deserved a far far better version of the PSX game.

@Scoopz no error. I'd like a dedicated handheld akin to the 3DS and a powerful home system to allow for real next gen versions of mario, zelda and metroid.

I'm sure the internal and external devs would love that flexibility too.

@Scoopz because the Switch is and has always been an underpowered console. It is a great, well executed concept that I would have preferred was the replacement for the 3DS, with a more powerful non-hybrid home console to go head to head with Sony and MS.

Nintendo used to be innovators in cutting edge hardware. I realise they have shifted to a different hardware model but they are the best placed of the big 3 to take sales from the other two by producing a more powerful home console.

A new dedicated handheld would be glorious.

A shame they couldn’t obtain the Lotus license and include the 3 original games too.

Neo drift out is incredibly expensive to buy these days so this is a godsend.

@Coolmusic I'd love nothing more than a new game in the series. Tsunku himself has tweeted as recently as last year about what features we would like to see in a new game. As things stand, his health is no longer an issue, but Nintendo may be the problem.

I’d assume she has been hired to forge new relationships for Nintendo’s next generation hardware platform.

The Switch is now struggling to keep up and I’m sure new hardware will be filtering through to internal and AAA partner dev teams next year.

How about a Sega branded new console which has a digital download model for all games. Sega could rerelease their Saturn and Dreamcast back catalogues and have the joypads available to purchase for each emulated system.

They seem reluctant to add these to the current gen platforms, so why not make a more future proofed retro system themselves.

@Snatcher we received the Japan exclusive limited edition box sets this week and my business partner has tried the switch version. I’ve avoided it as I’m more interested in giving the ps5 version a go.

He was disappointed with his couple of hours of gameplay and mentioned that the hope of a spiritual sequel to the sonic adventure titles was not what was on offer here. He thought the overworld and the 2 stages he played were dull graphically. The controls in the 2d segment were floaty and unresponsive and the frame rate was all over the place.

One of our best customers in Germany has reduced his order by half. If retailers get a sniff of disappointing early feedback, they’ll often hold back as SEGA distributed titles will be reduced relatively well within a few weeks of launch.

I’m sure it’s no Balan, but I’ll bet this isn’t going to be the 3D Sonic game we’ve all been waiting decades for. That’s bad news for myself as a fan and a distributor.
