Sounds like this has the arcade soundtrack(which is great), but not as good as the Saturn release. Option to have both would be amazing.

Icing on the cake would be the completed Level 1 of the unreleased sequel, R-Gear.

@riccyjay every genre is 'played out' in reality so why do they single out shoot em ups?

If anything, the genre is going through something of a big renaissance right now.

@Kehkou your n64 game just needs a new button cell battery. Like almost all cartridge based systems Up to the n64 they used masked roms which will last for many more years if they are well looked after. The other ones mentioned use similar tech to a flash based memory card and they have a much shorter lifespan.

@Atmosfear In fairness to the mentioned websites, these aren’t some ‘hoarders stash’ but the largest switch ‘scene’ community and repository for pirated games online. I’m sure they will create a new extension like .zxw or whatever and then it negates the need for a VPN

@Kehkou Physical games are great, unless they’re DS/3DS/PSVita/Switch flashroms which all have instances of failing, especially if not used regularly.

Silhouette Mirage is an amazing platformer with a similar game mechanic to ikaruga.

As for gradius v, what are Konami doing? Get it released!!

The Japanese and only available console versions of this game (Mizubaku Daibouken) fetch big money. The Saturn game sells for £400 and the PC Engine version around £200 so it’s great to see it receive an affordable release.

Just make it better than Terra Cresta II and Terra Cresta 3D as they are average at best.

@Shadow_Dancer the Japanese version was called Gynoug, not Wings of Wor. It was part of the ChoAniki (Super Big Brother) series of games. The Japanese have a fascination with muscular homo erotic kitsch imagery and these games epitomised this.

Don't hold me to this but they are classed as, 'baka-ge' which translates to something like idiot game.

Received the controller the other day but haven’t opened it yet. Waiting for Nintendo to patch the latency issue on the emulator.......if they can.

I think this would sell as a standalone accessory, but with the game 👍

@Daniel36 ah OK, i assumed they locked out the use of ROM files within it's firmware.

As for being sued, there are dozens of other systems which offer it straight out the box but I guess they mostly originate from China.

@KillerBOB this is from the analogue website.

Pocket is not designed to play copyrighted ROM files from the SD card slot. ... The SD card slot is for firmware updates and other unique features. Analogue does not support piracy.

Looking at their website it states that you will only be able to play using the original cart, so what they are announcing here is basically the back end we expected in the first place.

The biggest issue with OLED technology isn’t so much traditional image retention/burn in, but vertical banding. Through time as they begin to degrade, dark vertical patches which usually run top to bottom of the display start to appear and are most noticeable on bright single colour backgrounds.

As for Samsung being at the forefront of OLED tech for the last decade, I’d have to disagree as the majority of progress has been spearheaded by LG as the sole manufacturer of retail OLED TV panels. I realise that Samsung have used the tech on mobile devices but the bulk of advancements are LG firsts.

Just to add my two cents.....

Having played all 3 of these titles I can confirm the lag is game breaking and renders them utterly useless. CC have mentioned that they are looking into the problem, but I wouldn’t expect them to improve and wouldn’t buy on the strength of a possible fix.

@Bret agree 100%. As soon as I read the ‘ideal platform’ line, I knew they hadn’t played it in PSVR. It’s akin to an out of body experience!

Dracula X has a mindblowing soundtrack. Easily one of the best on the SNES. The rest of the game is a good arcade platformer.

@BlubberWhale I have the 3 Saturn conversions and can tell you that the lag is awful and absolutely renders them unplayable.

Here’s hoping for a fix.

They should hire Treasure (ex Konami) to make a new 2D Castlevania and possibly an on rails Sin and punishment style Silent Hill.

Can we ask nicely for permission to see McDonald’s treasure land adventure on the MD. it’s a great platform game even without the license.

And if we are talking rereleases from any console, can we have PS2 Gradius V, SS Silhouette Mirage and the XB port of Guardian Heroes.

@judaspete the Screamer series of games were good, but that was a quarter of a century ago now......

Can Konami/M2 just release a Rebirth compilation. It would be perfect for Switch with little effort needed.......the way Konami like it.

Can confirm after chatting with my distributor that the UK release has the same internal art along with a poster and a sticker sheet for a limited time.

Navi Saturn is the best looking console IMO, best Nintendo one has to be the SFC. A timeless design.

BTW, try and find a working Panasonic Q. They are literally all spaces/repairs.

Sonic Colours Ultimate seems to have a really messed up dark colour palette compared to the original. Nice bit of irony there.

I feel sad reading through this top 50 as there are dozens of better Japanese region games that were either missed or omitted from the master list. People either haven't heard of them or played them.

Use Mystical Ninja as an example. The 3 sequels are all great games and don't get a look in.

The SNES library in Japan is probably the best library of games for any system, ever.

This is a Top 50 of games recognised by Nintendolife and nothing more.

My top 3:
1. Gradius 3 (SFC)
2. Midnight Resistance (MD)
3. Akumajou Dracula (X68000 SC-55 MIDI)
3.5 Ganbare Goemon (SFC)

Hearing a suite of Gradius tracks was the highlight for me.

I’m sure Bombuzal was a rush job launch title from Imagineer for the Super Famicom and reviews at the time were less than favourable.

Despite multiple licensing issues and other hurdles including cost, Nintendo could do better than these.

Just preordered the base Steam Deck and can always throw a 2tb micro sd in it. States 1st quarter 2022 (ordered 7pm gmt)

Have the more powerful onexplayer coming next week through the indiegogo campaign, but there is something to be said from getting the maximum bang for your buck and hopefully the steam deck will deliver on that front.

Build a bear are all about accessorising and dressing, K.K. is basically naked at all times so what was the point?

@BlubberWhale totally agree that it’s great to get so many titles in 1 place, but also annoying that when new titles get released such as t type final 2 the Switch version is so inferior to the other consoles.

Would be great If you could buy them all on a single console but I guess that was never the case.

@SpringDivorce virtually everything you mentioned is a port of an old game. Nothing comes close to 16/32bit systems for the sheer amount of grade A ports and conversions of titles never played outside of an arcade before so close to their initial release. The switch just regurgitates So many previously released games.

@BlubberWhale I doubt it, there aren't that many exclusive Switch shooters. I reckon the greatest is the PC Engine if you include card and CD titles followed by the Saturn, Megadrive third.

A shame they aren't including Kyukyoku Tiger II Plus (Tiger Heli 2) as its a great addition to the series too.

With 99% of the Switch library being pure garbage we are spoiled for choice.
however I’m going for the Rocketeer on the SNES.......awful game but still spent too many hours playing it.

I cannot believe a sealed NTSC Mario 64 Is so rare in mint condition. There must be others out there.
