V2 refers to their second flash card, only compatible with S1. It has nothing to do with S2.

@Flugen the only negative I see is that you have to take the cart with you, however you can sell it later on, unlike a code in the box once used.

Maybe Nintendo.should have just went one way of the other on this and said we are going digital only.

You're mistaken, the V2 cart is a revision purely for Switch 1.

You can be sure that Nintendo will have blocked their cart on S2 along with any other previous exploits. Remember, S2 is not natively compatible with S1 games. They are running via emulation.

@FormerGameAddict this is the replacement for a code in the box, something that has no resale value. At least this option does, in the short to medium term.

We are only going to continually move further away from physical media. Within the next decade any new hardware launches (PS7 etc) will inevitably be download only.

Another possible issue is that Nintendo could theoretically remove the game from sale and your download could potentially be blocked as you are only paying for a license to play the game, not the outright ownership of it.

@Zuljaras Nintendo will ban your account and blacklist your Switch if they detect you are using a piracy device, plus it only works on Switch 1.

The soundtrack definitely sounds in house, with very similar compositions to odyssey.

@Olmectron I was sure the S2 Zelda upgrades were running at 1440p. Still a very worthy upgrade.

@sanderev what games are going to run in 4k? They're doing well if they run 1440p. PC ports are going as low as 1080p.

Also I'm unsure how you can quantify the claim that S2 is as powerful as a 4070 graphics card. That's utterly delusional.

@Oldstalk the RRP set by Nintendo is a massive problem for retailers as that is what they pay from their distributors (RRP) less their terms (probably around -15 to -20%).

Their margins are already very small and with less and less physical games coming back to them in the resale market (where they make better margins) due to the push towards a mostly digital platform, there is little incentive for these retailers to exist anymore.

My biggest concern is the lack of 1st party software. This will be the first ever Nintendo system to launch with only 1 Nintendo developed new game.

Alana has said her favourite feature of the Switch 2 is the joy con HD rumble, so I’ll take the lack of enthusiasm for the mouse with a pinch of salt.

It’ll work well on games like Arkanoid or another blast from the past……Shufflepuck Cafe.

I’d hang in until launch day of the game. There will be better deals to come.

I'd say a may release is likely considering the new game transfer functionality is being added to the switch by the end of April.

@JJtheTexan add in the msx trilogy and the x68000 remake of Nemesis 2 and it would be almost complete.

Considering it's the 40th anniversary this year, a definitive release would have been essential.

There's something odd playing games such as Gradius III, Super R-Type and Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts without slowdown. It literally breaks the gameplay.

@RupeeClock try the SA-1 enhanced version without slowdown and you'll soon be wishing it was back in there.

Rhythm Heaven Megamix Plus is nailed on. Collaborators of Tsunku have said they have been working on remastering previous work for a new, 'album'. I'm sure this is just a smokescreen for a Switch rerelease.

I call BS on there being more Big N releases than third party titles at launch. Totally implausible.

@weisske of course it won’t! 150m units means continued sales in large numbers. Just look at PS4 sales even to this day.

There will be hundreds of games released which will work across both Switch platforms for the foreseeable future. Just as we see with PS4/PS5.

No matter which one you choose, you'll be bored rigid if you decide to give one a play through.

I think people either get and enjoy the Human Entertainment game style or they don't. Super Formation Soccer was a big seller on the SFC import scene as it was an early release. I still have brand new unsold copies of this and the sequels lying around.

From the '94 update onwards, the game engine was overhauled and the speed of the PC Engine games returned, making for a far more enjoyable experience.
