@PcTV I thought FFVII remake was amazing, the only bit I really didn't like was the journey to the 2nd reactor. That bit was tres long, but the rest was a great combo of nostalgia and new.
They really put me off FFCC when they scrapped local multiplayer when they'd previously suggested it had been added.
Yeah this year has put me off watching any of these E3 lites. If you've got nothing to show, just cancel the events. I don't see the point of running these style events if the highlights are a Catherine re-release and Bakugan gameplay.
@tourjeff The issue is the Switch is significantly less powerful than the other consoles. To port it and make it run better than deadly premonition 2, requires lots of time and effort. It's much more cost effective to hire a development team to port it after the games finished.
Yeah it's looking like a good replacement for endless ocean. Nintendo and Arika should get together and work on a 3rd game. They should also port fighting ex layer to switch.
Looking forward to subnautica though. Will probably get it digitally once it goes on sale.
This year's game is basically a barebones update of the last game still running on the Fox Engine. While they put extra time into making the next game on the Unreal Engine. That's the one that's likely to be on Switch.
@RPGamer I really hope it's KOFXV time. Loved the way XIV played.
@MageNicho They might do, but they've all already made statements about it. The reason Evo was cancelled was due to the publishers all pulling their games, and stating how appalled they were.
What I'd like is a commitment across the board to try for crossplay and rollback netcode in all future games. The thing the pandemic has really highlighted, is how bad the majority of these publishers online play is.
@Moistnado My guess is its a studio contracted for 6 months or so, to get the game running as best they can on Switch. The Outer Worlds is a game designed for PS4/Xbox One. If it runs atrociously on Switch reviews will reflect that, and if you don't read reviews before buying a game, well thats kinda your own fault.
I'm kinda impressed they got it running at all, Ys VIII has choppy performance on switch and that's a port of a Vita game. Just to put things in perspective
I think I'll end up picking this up. He's truly one of the greatest of all time. He was a great programmer and creator, but an even better leader. Just look at the variety of games he Greenlit in the Wii Era. Sin and Punishment 2, Pandora's Tower, The Last Story, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Endless Ocean, Wii Sports. Crazy levels of variety. You read his interviews, and the two things that come across the most are his enthusiasm and his knowledge.
@Moistnado well hopefully this will give the team that worked on the port more time to work on general performance. I'm assuming Obsidian outsourced switch development to a 3rd Party.
Yeah N64 games used to cost a fortune in the UK. I don't think it really matters, the only people paying full price are folks silly enough to walk into GAME. There will always be deals, and sales. I think the only game I've bought full price in the last 5 years is FFVII remake.
@G_M I think the difference is hardly anyone's wants to see a new duck hunt game. F-ZERO still has a following that would be excited to see a new game in the franchise. Nintendo also have expressed interest in making a new game. I believe they asked Criterion to pitch a new game a few years ago. I think of all the old franchises it's likely to be the next one that sees a revival.
I just want a decent digital store where I can buy Power Stone 2, Chrono Trigger, F-Zero GX, Marvel vs Capcom 2, and Fragile Dreams. I don't get why every console that releases seems to hit reset on their digital catologues. Let people give you money guys.
Kinda feels like Nintendo are floundering at the moment. The variety of games they seem to be releasing this year definitely feels like it's nosedived, which is Strange considering they're no longer supporting the 3DS. Paper Mario and Animal Crossing, can't have been the only games they pencilled in for 2020 surely
I'd settle for JPEG of unannounced nintendo game at this point. I really don't understand how nintendo have managed to space out their games so badly in the last couple of years. I think they must have cut down on the number games in development considerably since Iwata passed.
The way it's worded, sounds like it was planned and then they ran out of time. Disappointing, why not just delay it and make it the best it could be. It's not like the game is gonna sell massively well whatever the case, but at least attempt to please the fans of the original. The Crystal Chronicles series as a whole, just screams missed opportunity.
The world of Crystal Bearers is really well designed, but again it's a game that needed 6 months more in the oven.
@garfreek I think I'm just confused by the need to identify as something else in the first place. But then I'm not Trans, and it's hard to put yourself in someone else's shoes sometimes.
I'm not gonna go out of my way to be rude to someone in real life. If someone I know wants to be called he/she, i'll go with the flow. At the end of the day, It's a 2 or 3 letter word, its not a hill that I'm gonna die on.
Taken way to soon. I miss his Iwata asks interviews. Really showed the human side of game development. A man who truly cared about the games. So many higher ups in this industry come across like accountants. Iwata always had a warmth and seemed completely genuine.
@Krull Yeah I think I've got E3 withdrawal. Everything is so spread out this year. The highlight for me so far has been Pokemon Snap. I was hoping we'd get King of Fighters or Metal Slug from SNK. Or something from Grasshopper or Sega.
I'm hoping Microsoft has some cool stuff to show at their event, the Sony one was ok but it lacked a game that really grabbed me.
This turned out to be one of the highlights of a pretty disappointing stream. They advertised Sega/atlus would be presenting, and it turned out to be half an hour of unedited gameplay footage of Catherine.
@Antraxx777 Yeah it does look a lot darker. I can't wait to try it though. Ys VIII is the first game in the series I've played, and I'm having a great time with it.
There's not that many really, it's a genre that's fallen out of favour.
Sonic, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro and ratchet and clank are the ones that come to mind. An indie game is not likely to have the resources to match even a 3d game from last gen.
So I think a lot of them prefer to make a good looking 2D game, than a mediocre looking 3d one.
I don't really see the point of this. Just buy an arcade stick. And hook it up to the dock. I've always fancied an arcade cabinet at home, but the appeal of one designed for toddlers and umpa-lumpas seems pretty limited
One of the key things i disliked about the original, other than the wonkey camera and dodgey platforming, was the lack of permanence. You'd spend time restoring an area, then moving between areas would undo your work. I wish it felt more like Mario Sunshine or Okami, where you gradually restore the world.
@SuperWeird for me it depends on the game. I play Sam Sho online all the time. Whereas MK11 I might have played it once online. However I've spent hours on the towers and the Krypt.I also really like king of fighters but I spent most of my time in that game practicing combos more so than playing online.
You'll get all the new levels, friendships and Stage fatalities. You'll just be missing the extra characters and the extra story mode. I'd wait until the DLC inevitably goes on sale.
@SuperWeird I think in mortal kombats case the story is probably the best bit, along with the finishers. Now if Capcom did story DLC for Street Fighter, or namco for tekken I'd agree it would be utterly pointless

What Remains of Edith Finch and Hellblade are my favourites on Switch. Journey is great if you've got a PS4.
Re: Review: Rock Of Ages 3: Make & Break - Between A Rock And A Hard Place

I think the reason a lot of indie devs don't attempt 3D is it invites comparisons to AAA games. Which they're never gonna compare favourably to.
Re: Nintendo Kicks Off Huge 'Digital Days' Switch Sale, Over 350 Games Discounted (Europe)

RESI 5 is good in co-op, the AI controlled character is not the brightest. It's very much an action game.
Re: Nintendo Kicks Off Huge 'Digital Days' Switch Sale, Over 350 Games Discounted (Europe)
@Bunkerneath
Why the hate for Digital? I like the convenience of it and that more money goes to the developer.
I used to buy Physical a lot, but I stopped around the time they stopped doing colour instruction manuals. I just didn't see the point anymore.
Re: Nintendo Kicks Off Huge 'Digital Days' Switch Sale, Over 350 Games Discounted (Europe)
I've picked up Ys VIII for half price, and I'm tempted by the sinking city and sega classics. 50 games for £15 isn't bad.

@MagicEmperor completely agree, if they are being remastered, they'll need to tweak the gameplay significantly to make them fun.
