The Epic Mickey series showed a lot of promise when the first game made its debut on the Nintendo Wii in 2010, but the second entry ended up being a commercial failure. Despite this, there are still many fans who would like to see this short-lived series make a comeback.
With this in mind, another piece of new - yes, new - Epic Mickey clothing has been spotted online, this time on a Korean website. This follows on from the Dutch Funko-Pop website last month listing an Epic Mickey-themed t-shirt. Here are images of both:
The artwork on the hoodie might even be a "new" render. Between this and the t-shirt, it seems rather odd for a series that's been out of action for years to suddenly be receiving brand-new apparel in 2020.
There's also a theory that it ties in with rumours - dating back to December last year - about the developer PlayMagic working on an "unannounced remaster" of a Disney IP. If we hear anything else, we'll be sure to let you know.
Would you like to see Epic Mickey return? Tell us down below.

Now that would be... epic.
I loved the first one on Wii, it was really original and those platforming levels based on classic cartoons were great. The camera was hilariously bad though, it really went down in history as an example of the very worst cameras.
@WreckitRyan * applause
After I visit Disneyland (every several years), I try and find a good Disney game to keep the vibes going...I've always been let down, lol. Never played these games, actually, so a port would be nice!
If they can revive it in a playable way, would enjoy playing this with my daughters
If remasters do come....... I hope there is a lot fixed. Also would love to see some new content added but I think that’s getting a bit too hopeful.
OK, this is Epic Mickey.
Except the whole "Funko Pop" part, that is extremely un-epic.
And I just bought the first one, too, thanks to finding it in a lot with Deadly Creatures for less than ten bucks. Figured I might as well. Getting around to playing it, on the other hand...
First one was okay but I didn't buy the second one and wouldn't buy a remaster or new game in the series.
Ah, Epic Mickey games. Great concept, middling to terrible execution, in my opinion.
Power of Illusion was my favorite and even that was deeply flawed. Still, it’s nice that there’s such a loyal fanbase!
I’m gonna say no. Disney is great at respecting old properties through merchandising and I think this is just another example of that.
If it is something new, hopefully Disney don't self sabotage this one as well.
@MagicEmperor
Power of Illusion would have been tolerable if it didn't force the use of the touch screen EVERY time you wanted to interact with any object.
On Epic Mickey 1 & 2, both are very enjoyable to me. They are full of amazing callbacks to Disney film, short, and theme park history, and worth it just for those.
Epic Mickey 1's camera seems infuriating to many, but if you approach it with the realization that when the dev team fixes the camera in one place, it typically means you are seeing what you are supposed to, it goes very well.
I played Epic Mickey 2 entirely co-op on the Wii, so cannot speak to the Wii U version (Though I have read that it must be played split-screen, and not each-player-gets-their-own-screen, which is weird). I also do not know how good Oswald's AI is when playing single-player. But we had a great time with it, and I can recommend it.
Junction Point claimed they made many camera tweaks, although I say they weren't very noticeable to me.
Never played them BUT have always wanted to, reading all the positivity around them. If it came to Switch as a physical remaster double pack, I’d for certain take the bait.
@MagicEmperor completely agree, if they are being remastered, they'll need to tweak the gameplay significantly to make them fun.
@nukatha Yeah, the frequent stop-and-go of Power of Illusion was pretty hard to ignore!
@Wargoose Yeah! I agree!
I thought this might end up coming to switch, I never actually played them as I never owned a Wii or WiiU but I’d seen gameplay footage and it reminded me of some games I used to play on the ps1
One of the key things i disliked about the original, other than the wonkey camera and dodgey platforming, was the lack of permanence. You'd spend time restoring an area, then moving between areas would undo your work. I wish it felt more like Mario Sunshine or Okami, where you gradually restore the world.
I'd like to see a good 3d platformer (or even 2d) with Mickey, but I feel that the whole painting thing was just a gimmick nobody really cared... Why not just create something more traditional? A true Mickey experience, like the old ones! I still love the Illusion series, Wild Adventure and so...
The camera in the original was like a harsh love letter to all N64 fans. If they improve the camera I’ll consider getting this to play with my girls.
It's Mickey's 50th anniversary next year and Disney has big celebrations planned. And the game could well be part of all this.
But how much of the celebrations will have to be put on hold....who knows. 🙃
Never mind this, where is my Mickey Mania sequel? That game was brilliant.
It'd be fun to see this games again with a... new lick of paint!
I hope so! I loved the series!
My type of game, colourful entertaining and fun to play more please😀.
Its hypocritical of me to say this, but I would pay full price for a remaster. It was my favourite Wii game and I would absolutely want to play a HD version
@zool
Steamboat Willy was released 1928 so next year is Mickey's 93rd anniversary.
Castle of Illusion on the Megadrive was probably the best Mickey Mouse game.
I'd personally prefer Disney Infinity 1-3.0. I loved the series and think it would be an awesome addition to the Switch library. Its an unlikely choice though
@DevlinMandrake yes, you are right Mickey has been going a lot longer, and he was previously known as Mortimer Mouse.
Next year is the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World which opened on October 1, 1971. Big celebrations are/were planned. Mickey is the corporate logo.
Is Mickey more famous than Disney? Is Mario more famous than Nintendo?
I always welcome the IDEA of more "classic" Oswald and Mickey, with the right execution... And most of it WAS near "perfection" in what they were going for, if they could just get it to feel right while playing it...
@zool
I see what you mean about the anniversary. I've never been a big fan of Mickey/Disney. Give me the Looney Tunes any day.
As to Mickey and Mario, I'd say they're definitely more famous than their corporate owners.
@DevlinMandrake @zool Or should the question be: is Mario more famous than Miyamoto? Is Disney the man or the company?
The comparison is a bit unfair, as in one case the company is named after the designer of its mascot, in the other, the company name is older than its best known contemporary creations.
If Nintendo was named "Miyamoto", everyone would say his name whenever they refer to any production of the company, even the ones Miyamoto as a human had no real hand in, as is the case with Disney.
@keihtg The Disney Afternoon Collection is great, and DuckTales Remastered is fantastic too.
It still bothers me that the dark and mysterious Epic Mickey didn't have an Alice in Wonderland level... But the lighter, with singing and heavy voice acting sequel did.
Can't say I ever struggled with the camera tho, yet I would still like to play the supposedly Nintendo-tweaked Japanese version and compare.
Those game we're amazing! Any of the games would be welcomed to my Switch games collection.
Now THIS is the sort of game that should be getting a remaster. Many remasters today focus on taking already perfect games and giving them a shiny coat of paint (Bowser's Inside Story, for example).
A better idea is to take excellent games that had a few fatal flaws and fix those.
@keihtg The last good Disney themed game that was not aimed at kids were both ducktales Remaster and the remake of Castle of illusion.
Lots of Wii-era games deserve a comeback, especially since some of them were criminally overlooked.
Definitely!!! Yeah the controls kind of sucked but it had sooooo much potential and was a really decent game i would like to see it remastered and this is the one video game (other than tetris) I got my wife sucked into.
I love Oswald, so I’m all in.
Kinda a shame that the 2nd game sold so poorly, but then again, the Wii was pretty much dead in 2012, the 3DS was weak outside of Japan, and the Wii U was the Wii U.
Epic Mickey 3 on Switch could have some real potential if it is given the proper marketing and development budget.
Not looking foward a Epic Mickey 3 but I like that Tshirt.
As long as they keep it on the delicious side of creepy, I'm down for a sequel. Think Runaway Brain meets Bioshock Epcot, Alien Encounter, Tower of Terror, The Black Hole, and Something Wicked This Way Comes. You have a recipe for a Rick and Morty horror game starring Mickey Mouse. Also, give him a monochrome skin. Also, also... ditch the singing characters.
I would scream if this was true. These games are my childhood.
I remember being so excited for the first game. The creators love for Disney. He did a lot of great interviews. That great first trailer. The concept art. Pixar’s involvement. This was at the HEIGHT of my love for Pixar! When those reviews came in...😔 I passed. I had mild interest in the sequel. And when the reviews came in, i wasn’t disappointed. If a remaster can fix the deal breakers for me, I would buy it.
I haven't played the second game but the first one is the game with the worst camera I've ever played.
I have the one on Wii and it is one of my favorites. The camera is a bit sketchy but so many games are.
The concept art was superb, but Disney diluted the final product worse than Bungie did to Destiny.
I hope they make a 3 of epic Mickey love that game!!!
@Josephc____ They Did. Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion was a crossover with Castle of Illusion, But it felt more like a Castle of Illusion Game rather than an Epic Mickey. Sort of like how Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam feels more like a Mario and Luigi game than a Paper Mario Game (To be Fair, It was a Mario and Luigi Game)
@Muddy_4_Ever Yes. Partners in Time was probably Skipped over because it's too perfect for the Mere 3DS. Partners in Time Switch Port? I'd be happy if that's Alphadream's Funeral cortege.
