Nintendo's Japanese YouTube channel has just uploaded a trailer showing off a new update for the Switch version of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.
Version 1.3.0 – out now in Japan – adds in Labo VR support, allowing players to view and work their way through a series of puzzles from an all-new angle. Here's a bit of extra information, courtesy of Japanese Nintendo:
The update allows you to play The Treasure at Mushroom Ruins, Walleye Tumble Temple, Briny Bowl Swimming Hole, and Mine Cart Tunnel Throwdown with the VR Goggles.
There's no information about when this update will be released locally.
Nintendo will also be offering Japanese Switch Online subscribers a chance to play Captain Toad for free between the 5th - 11th August. It will give players access to the entire experience and can be played for a 10-day period.

Looks good! I don't have the Switch version, but I have the Wii U original. I hope this does well enough to justify a sequel somewheee down the line! Thinking about it now, this game was always well-suited to VR!
Ooh... I’ve enjoyed all the VR labo content so far (except Smash Bros, the camera resets far too often!!) this makes me want to buy Captain Toad...
I've just started playing this game again to clear the backlog. Looks interesting!
NSO subscribers are also getting access to the game between 5th to 11th August - https://topics.nintendo.co.jp/c/article/2841392b-ad07-11e9-b641-063b7ac45a6d.html
Yeah, looks good. In the trailer.
And with the Labo VR goggles it will look just awful. Labo VR's Alien blasting game was fun and sure, it was an experience. But the resolution is just too low. No more Labo VR stuff for me, even it's for free.
Time to plug my switch back into my PSVR again.
I missed the Smash Bros VR news. Guess i’ll Have to play that update as well
@nuovian Holy crap, hope it comes to rest of the world, but doubt it.
ok now, this makes perfect sense for the vr set. I already have the game on 3DS, but I'd honestly consider getting it again if they made a new pack with the dlc included.
Love these Labo Updates. Alien Blaster is fantastic, even at 30FPS. This is all a test from Nintendo because soon, they will release a 60FPS Switch, VR Googles to slide into and head tracking capabilities. Watch and learn. You're welcome!
@Benjoo seriously underrated game. I love it
Great game and the dlc was good. I want this too
I wish the head set wasn’t Labo....
But I like that they keep on expending it’s value, do 3rd party VR developers important their games to the switch? Or it’s still all first party?
@Tisteg80 yeah I feel the same. Botw is unplayable for me just too blurry. Do enjoy the blaster game though.
@Linnybhoy very charming so far. Love the hide and seek and the challenges. It's amazing how they make use of every bit of the sandbox level.
Surprised they haven't just quietly dropped Labo at this point.
It is pretty cool for them to still add VR support. It hasn't been great so far but I'll still give it a go since I recently bought the DLC
Im more surprised that they are letting Japan play the game for free for a few days
I love Captain Toad! Best Game!
"There's no information about when this update will be released locally." there is only one global version of the game. so all regions get the update at the same time.
I went on my Japanese account and started downloading it without any trouble. It’s image has the English logo as it downloads. I was curious after being able to download the Famicom service in the past. The real irony is that today is my birthday. Lol
EDIT: The software won’t load! Theres cake in my face! Lol!!!
@VR32X It's not the 1st of August yet.
why Japan only? this would be an amazing news for those who haven't bought NSO yet but considering it...
This makes me want Super Mario 3D World to come to the Switch, and include Labo VR support!
I'm still upset I bought for Wii u, and Nintendo wants me to buy again for the dlc. Boo...
XBox Live Gold: Free Play Days! Play X, Y, and Z all weekend for subscribers!
PSN+: Free Play Weekend: Play X, Y, and Z all weekend for subscribers!
NSO: Free play. Play Captain Toad for free for one week (one country's members only.)
Not saying they're doing it wrong. But they're doing it wrong.
Interesting concept.
Wonder how it works, seems like the trial option downloads the full game, you probably just don't get a 'permanent right' to play it or something.
Had the DLC from the recent sale and that merged into the same icon, so being the same icon, I'd expect it to carry over the save files and be compatible with the DLC if you buy that too, but will have to wait and see.
Looks like the Japanese times convert to 4:00am 5th August - 10:00am 11th August in UK time.
@Liam Doolan I think they just now announced this for America. Check their Youtube

If the free week releases in North America, I guess I will speed run it to see the differences in the new version vs the one I already own.
Already kinda wanted this game, now I really want it.... never stop Labo VR support Nintendo
@VR32X HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
@Nintendo_Thumb Thank you!!!
Can we have VR Minecraft with LABO? Or am I the only one who wants this?
