Re: Feature: A Pokémon Retrospective: Generation 7 - 2016 To 2019

Very informative and well written as always, Joe. I like Gen 7 a lot, SM was a breath of fresh air to the main series. And Let's Go is actually fun, although it didn't last long. Master Trainers got tedious after a while and the lack of competitive elements made me drop it fairly quickly compared to any other main series title. Now, where's that Pokémon Direct?!

I know Sakurai said it's not happening, but Kid Icarus Uprising would be amazing on the switch. The controls would benefit a lot. It's gorgeous, ambitious and epic on the 3DS, imagine on Switch. And the multiplayer was really really good as well!! It's a tragedy it's not happening.

I've come to accept Let's Go for what it is, and am enjoying it a lot, closing in 70h of playtime already. It sucks that there's absolutely no competitive play and they messed with a lot of systems, but as Joe said, it was never meant to do that. I'd say my biggest gripe with it is by far the awful online modes. I'm completely baffled that none of the reviews that I saw mentioned this monster of an online and found out by myself. Let me tell you a story: I wanted to trade a Graveler with a friend, to register Golem on the Pokédex, and we went online and put a code, assuming it's purpose was to pair us among our FRIEND'S LIST. Instead, it put us in GLOBAL environment where everyone with the same code could run into each other. Result: I gave my Graveler to a complete stranger and obviously didn't get it back. Luckily I ran into a kind Japanese player that traded a Graveler for another, and thus my faith in humanity was restored, but in Game Freak's capacity to make a simple online connection between friends, that faith is gone for good. In Joe's own words: I miss the Festival Plaza. And that's saying something.

Re: Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu And Eevee Will Feature "Master Trainers" After The Main Story

I highly doubt it will live up to previous entries post game. Even if you go way back to gen 3 with FRLG, they had cool stuff, and were in Kanto. Just hard trainers isn't enough. Hard trainers is the bare minimum, it's called Battle Tower/Maison/Tree. What people want is the cool stuff: B2W2's Pokémon World Tournament, the missing Battle Frontier, even the short post story of ORAS, Episode Delta and USUM, Episode Rainbow Rocket (wich was amazing). That's good post game. Now they're just gonna put some recognizable character like Professor Oak to be a sort of final boss and that's it. Shameful. Oh well, forgive my rant.

@Gibb Fair enough, didn't want to sound like a hater, I'm a huge Pokemon fan, that's why I'm disappointed. But for real, don't expect it. First, there's no way they'd add over 600 hundred Pokemon in tiny Kanto alone, there's a certain balance to how many Pokemon appear per route. And it's even less likely that they'd add the actual regions. If the let's go games are successful, and let's be honest, they'll be, Junichi Masuda said in some interviews it could become it's own series, parallel to the more traditional games. Bank support will likely be just to bring Pokemon from let's go to the later games. That's my two cents on it. It's still going to be a major release.
