Re: Soapbox: Grinding Is Poor Gameplay Design That Doesn’t Respect Your Time

Tulio517

Whilst I don't mind the occasional grind, I see your point. Grinding, like any activity on a game, is supposed to be rewarding and feel good. No game should purposefully frustrate the player, f2p or not. I'm the type of player who overlevels a bit on RPGs, it's fun for me.

But specifically for Pokémon, which is my favorite series, their efforts to remove grinding entirely are greatly appreciated. As a veteran player, even if I'm underleveled, the game is a breeze, since I know all the moves, type matchups etc.. I think I clocked about 30 hours until credits on Sword and Shield, and none of them were spent grinding. If a noob pick any of the older games, like RSE or DPPt, they might finish the game in about the same time, but a good chunk of it could potentially be spent grinding, and not the good satisfying type.

Re: Dead By Daylight Is Getting A Colourblind Mode Following Provocative Comments By One Of Its Designers

@TheMaverickk don't get me wrong. I play dbd daily and appreciate the constant updates. The devs are very active and talk to the community often. The game, much like every other games, has had issues and they work to fix'em, and talk to us. As you've said, harassment online is not okay, but his answer was very mean as well. I'm not colorblind myself, but I can only imagine how it must feel to be unable to play MOST games because devs often don't care about accessibility. But I'm glad the industry is changing for the better and more and more people have this in mind.

Re: Feature: Best Wii U Games

In retrospect it's easy to praise the Wii U's library, but the main problem of its time was the big drought of releases that happened specially in 2015 and 2016. Without third party support, with only a few indie hits and with the 3DS (an actual successful platform) to develop for, Nintendo just wasn't able to keep up. Thankfully there is a happy ending. Without the Wii U's failure, the Switch wouldn't be where it is today.

@Eel @KateGray it's a shame that articles like this are immediately controversial. It's ridiculous, really. It shouldn't be. And although this particular story is actually a half-step, know that covering LGBTQ+ representation in games is just as necessary as the thing itself. Maybe consider disabling comments? I remember Push Square doing it on a recently sensible topic. Far from ideal, but better than not reporting at all.

Re: These Were The Best-Selling Switch Indie Games Of 2020

@Dualmask @MattAllsopp Hades isn't your typical hack'n'slash rogue like. It's completely deserving of all the praise. Apart from the amazing combat, level design and progression system, it also has one of the best stories of 2020 and a beautiful art style and soundtrack. Really the complete package, can't recommend enough.

Re: Nintendo Switch System Update 11.0.0 Is Now Live

Finally brazilian portuguese! Also, NL (understandably) didn't report on it, but Nintendo confirmed that the eshop is coming to the Switch in Brazil! No need for external websites anymore. I don't know about other south american countries that have the same lame site as well, worth checking it out!

Re: Pokémon HOME - Pokémon GO Connectivity Is Now Live, It's Just Not Available To Everyone Yet

Tulio517

@Heavyarms55 like some people pointed out, it's really easy to farm shinies in GO. I, for one, only really ever put money on the game to change teams and have a bunch of shinies, some of them legendary. It'd take a good while to transfer them all, even if it was just one of each species. It is an issue. Look, I'm not one to overly criticize this kind of thing. And as we know very well, the Pokémon community has a tendency to go overboard. But this is really not good, check Joe Merrick's recent tweets, he makes a better case.

Re: Talking Point: What's Your Comfort Food Game?

It's gotta be Pokémon for me. Online battling is often thrilling, but also due to the turn based nature of the game, laid back enough for me. I'll always come back to it, no matter how long or how troubled the new titles might be. Also, on a completely different turn, Rocket League. I'm very very casual with it and I have no intention of getting better, it's really just a very chill game to play listening to music for me.
