Re: Is 'Switch Tax' A Real Concern, Or Just A Myth?

Tokiwa

The difference is actually way higher in my region. Some games costs like 50% in some cases, but that applies to the PS4 and Xbox One as well.

Steam is just very convenient and cheaper in some parts of the world, like South America. Which is why i only buy exclusives on consoles and buy the rest on Steam.

Re: Etrian Odyssey Nexus Announced For Nintendo 3DS In The West, Available February 2019

Tokiwa

I like how Atlus keeps supporting older platforms longer than most publishers, they did the same with Persona 4 (PS2) and Persona 5 (PS3). Sometimes it pays off since you don't have much competition and have a huge install base looking for new releases. Now that PQ2 localization is looking more likely to happen...

I hope they make a limited edition like previous games.

Re: Nindies Respond To Nintendo Releasing High Volume Of Games On Switch eShop

Tokiwa

Eshop could have a better design and discovery. While Steam is pretty infamous i rarely see any [removed] game on the storefront, probably because the recommended algorithm they've put in place.

For example i buy a lot of anime and pixel-art games so i always see these type of games on the storefront when something new is released. Games like Bad Rats and AIDS Simulator never appear to me unless i go out of my way to search for it.

If Nintendo is really going that route (very likely) then the Eshop could use some rework in the design and discovery of games.

Re: Squre Enix Aims To Shorten The Slow Localization Process For Dragon Quest Games

Tokiwa

I don't think is just the localization delay. The series itself is very niche in the west.

It's probably because the gameplay is still a very classic turn-based JRPG. Unlike the FF series which aims to reach a "broader" audience being more action...ish.

Still i would appreciate a faster localization as long it doesn't affect the quality. Dragon Quest is one of the few triple-A turn based JRPG in the market after all.

Re: Review: Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy (Switch)

Tokiwa

Definitely picking this one up, i enjoyed it a lot back in the day.

I would personally rate it higher but i don't expect everyone to like Crash as much as Mario or Donkey Kong. Also 7 is far from bad, is anything below 9/10 considered shit?

Re: US Research Analyst Believes Gaming Could Become 100% Digital By 2022

Tokiwa

@Realnoize I'm not really a fan of digital, i don't hate it but i don't love it either. But like i said i don't really have a choice on PC where 99% of the games is digital only or the physical still forces to use a digital platform. However one good point was the regional pricing on Steam, which makes PC games cheaper than consoles (at least on my country) so it kinda of pays off around here.

On my 3DS though i went with physical copies as much possible, aside from the VC games and the Eshop only indie titles.

However my problem with digital games is not much about ownership but more about internet connection. I'm from a third world country where speeds are sub-par and most places has data cap. I don't think most places is ready for digital content, at least for gaming (downloading a 80GB game is different from a 5MB music track after all).

I still believe in the future gaming will be digital only, just not that soon. I feel like it'll take at least more than a decade for us to get there.
