Re: Mad BMX Skills 2 Supermans Onto Switch Later This Week

@Suketoudara

The programmer of Kikstart was also a very famous game composer, people still remix in 2025.

Excitebike were close to being ported to all gaming computers.

Not long before Excitebike, Nintendo ported Donkey Kong, Mario Bros, Popeye and Donkey Kong Jr. among others to anything that could run games.

Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum and others.

Re: Mad BMX Skills 2 Supermans Onto Switch Later This Week

Toastmaster

@Suketoudara Kicktart also exist on Commodore 128.

Wasn't Excitebike the first in this genre?

Those who made "No Man's Sky", previously made the great Joe Danger 1 and 2 games which was based on Kikstart / Excitebike, but added stunts.

When it comes to 2D stunt games, Redlynx at UBI were among the first who made those.

People do care that i own Gaming PC's and a 1500$ PC Handheld, because most can't even afford even a cheap 400$ Steam Deck.
If you played on PC, you would have known that games are more CPU demanding than they have ever been.

The reason why so many games run at only 30 FPS on PS5, is because of it's useless Walmart CPU, not the GPU.

Nintendo didn't get that memo that CPU is more important than ever.
Nintendo also don't know that a console is supposed to support SSD.
Iwata's Wii U supported 2 x SSD's at the same time.
If Iwata still lived, Switch would have supported SSD like Wii U.

COD BLOPS 7 isn't coming to Switch 2 on day 1 because of storage limitation.
Storage limitation on Switch 2 will make sure it miss out on a lot of games.

Re: EA Doesn't Currently Have Plans To Bring Battlefield 6 To Switch 2

Toastmaster

@AllBLK They had to ditch PS4 and Xbox One as they couldn't handle the mass destruction in BF6.

Switch 2 have a very weak CPU and can't handle the physics and mass destruction in this game.

Cyberpunk 2077 runs at only 30 FPS on Switch 2 because of CPU limitation.
Runs at 120 FPS on PC Handhelds that only cost 100-200$ more than Switch 2, because of their superior CPU's.

Nintendo should have used a AMD APU instead of NVIDIA to get more CPU power to get a lot more third party support.

Re: Best MicroSD Express Cards For Nintendo Switch 2

Toastmaster

@Elock
Is this a clueless joke?
Why do you claim Nintendo and NintendoLife lied about HDD on Wii U?

Nintendo clearly stated that you needed external 3.5" HDD or SSD with it's own power supply.

Even Nintendo Life told people this and you totally missed it?
Wii U never had HDD problems at all with their own PSU's.

Your lack of reading skills on this site was the problem, not Wii U.
Also, the Wii U manual itself clearly said HDD required it's own power.
My Wii U have 2 powered HDD's at the same time and still no problem after 13 years.

Since you don't know anything about hardware and power requirements, i can tell you that Xbox 360 and PS3 required PSU too.

Sony always got flamed for this and is the one of the reasons why PS VITA failed
Sony still get flamed for this over 10 years later.
Sony got a lot of backlash because VITA didn't support SD cards too.

Wii U is the only Nintendo console to support standard PC hardware out of the box.

  • Wii U supported standard SSD, HDD. Two connected at the same time.
  • Same online headsets with Mic as PC used.
  • Supported the cheap PC LAN Cards.
  • Supported standard wired and wireless PC Keyboards.
  • Full sized and Mini SD Cards

@vanYth
Yeah.
They do a lot of remakes of old games too which is nice.

The 1985 Atari were bought by Jack Tramiel, the founder of Commodore.

This is weird, because Commodore were the biggest competitor to Atari from 1985 to 1995.
He owned both of them for awhile.

Atari lost vs Commodore every year for 10 straight years.

Hogwarts Legacy looks like a brand new port to Switch 2 with less downgrades and is why you get the full Switch 2 version instead of a upgrade on the old one.
They call it a upgrade, but it's a brand new port.

Since you get full digital version for Switch 2 for 10 bucks, it makes the physical irrelevant as it's not tied to Switch 2 version at all.

You can call Switch 1 physical a keycard, so you can get the new version for 10 bucks.
It's a good deal and easily worth the money.

@Ulysses
Mario Kart is the #1 selling game on Nintendo consoles.
At least 50% of console owners buy it.

I think 60% of Wii U owners bought Mario Kart 8.

Releasing any racing game of any kind in 2025 and first months of 2026 on Switch 2 are pointless.
Only MKW will sell the next year on Switch 2.

Could be another reason why there were so little Switch 2 announcements in general.
Mario Kart alone are killing off third party game sales on Switch 2 for the next 12 months.

Re: Forget The PS4, Koei Tecmo Reckons Switch 2 Is Closer To Xbox Series S

@AussieMcBucket

You don't need to like racing to like Forza Horizon.

It's designed so you can win 100% of the races if you want, or play on higher difficulty.
If you drive off-road, you can rewind. No need to start the race again.

Besides that, there are over 900 licensed cars so far.
You can tune them to max, so they drive at insane speeds.

I own and played all 5 Forza Horizon games.
Forza Horizon 3 and 4 are the best ones.

Re: Forget The PS4, Koei Tecmo Reckons Switch 2 Is Closer To Xbox Series S

Toastmaster

@Ulysses Yeah. A lot of games released at the wrong time.

I know about the insane budgets of marketing in general.
Sometimes the marketing cost are more than the whole movie budget.

Forza Horizon are very different from Mario Kart.
Over 900 licensed cars so far, and the cars is a lot faster than karts.
People have jumped 1000 meters with a car in the game after tuning to the max.
Forza Horizon also have a level and track editor unlike Mario Kart.

Re: Forget The PS4, Koei Tecmo Reckons Switch 2 Is Closer To Xbox Series S

Toastmaster

@Ulysses I agree. It's only been barely a week since it launched.

It's still weird that Forza Horizon 5 isn't announced for Switch 2.
One of the most scalable games ever.
Runs at 60 FPS on old potato PC's with only 4 core CPU with good looking settings.

Maybe it wasn't ported because of Mario Kart World...
Too many open world racers for Switch in 2025.

Re: Forget The PS4, Koei Tecmo Reckons Switch 2 Is Closer To Xbox Series S

Toastmaster

@AussieMcBucket Yes, but it's a hybrid. Portable / TV is an option.
A lot of people use it as a TV console only.

As for third parties, it have been quite silent.

I'm surprised Forza Horizon 5 isn't announced for Switch 2.

It's probably one of the most scalable games ever made.
It runs even on PC without a GPU and at 60 FPS on 12-15 year old potato PC's.

Re: Forget The PS4, Koei Tecmo Reckons Switch 2 Is Closer To Xbox Series S

The reason why Switch 2 don't support SSD in docked mode is this.

Kids will unplug the Handheld while the game is running from SSD, causing the games to crash instantly because the storage they are running from is not connected anymore.

Why not make SSD an option for adults who maybe only play Switch 2 docked?
They could have done that with Switch 1 too.

Activision knew about Switch 2 for a long time, so it's weird nothing were done to get it running on Switch 2 for day 1 release.
It already runs on last gen consoles like Xbox One and PS4 and also the cheap Xbox Series S console.

Re: Forget The PS4, Koei Tecmo Reckons Switch 2 Is Closer To Xbox Series S

@Sambuc

The main problem with Black Ops 7 for Switch is that they are struggling to downgrade 150 GB to less than 64 GB for Switch 2 and making it run without stuttering.

The SD card speeds is a lot slower than SSD and can cause games to stutter, especially UE 5 games.

Also isn't it weird that not one single Xbox game have been announced for Switch 2, when they ported a bunch to PS5 already?

I suspect it's because of the storage limits on Switch 2 that it will take forever to port games to it.

No SSD support on Switch 2 causes a headache for a lot of developers.

All PC Handhelds supports multiple SSD's at the same time with a Dock.

Nintendo Wii U supported 2 SSD's at the same time out of the box...

Re: Yes, Call Of Duty Is Still On The Way To Nintendo Hardware

Toastmaster

@Serpenterror
Wii U got 2 day 1 Call of Duty releases. BLOPS 2 and Ghosts.
Why?
It's the only Nintendo console ever to support mass storage.

Wii U officially supported standard PC SSD and HDD out of the box.
You can connect 2 x 4 TB SSD's at the same time to Wii U if you want. 8 TB SSD...

95% of big games revealed at 4 shows last week didn't have a Switch 2 logo.
Because Nintendo refused to add SSD support on Switch 2.

They have to downgrade games for a small 64 GB cart instead.

Re: Xbox Officially Enters The Handheld Space, But Nintendo Won't Be Worried

Toastmaster

@MrGawain A lot more power, means higher price.

Cyberpunk 2077 runs at over 100 FPS on the old 2023 Handhelds Legion Go and Rog Ally in portable mode.

For comparison, Switch 2 version only run it at 30 FPS in portable mode.

You get 3 times higher performance on PC Handheld compared to Switch 2.
This is why the 2023 PC Handhelds cost 200$ more than Switch 2.

When Legion Go / Ally are on sale they actually cost less than Switch 2.
Legion Go etc. have been on sale for 400$ many times.

Re: Xbox Officially Enters The Handheld Space, But Nintendo Won't Be Worried

Toastmaster

Why are you never doing any research on other Handhelds NintendoLife?

1.) The real Xbox Handheld is delayed for at least 2 years.

2.) Rog Ally X is not a Xbox Handheld at all.
It's a standard PC Handheld with a Xbox logo on it.

3.) This fake Xbox handheld runs PC, Xbox and PS5 games out of the box.
If this were a Xbox handheld, it wouldn't run PS5 games...
