Re: Video: Nintendo Just Dropped Its Best (Worst?) Song Since DK Rap

Toastmaster

I was on a 2 hour long concert with David Wise, Grant Kirkhope etc. as a band a few months ago.
They played only Rare songs like Banjo Kazooie, Jet Force Gemini etc. and also "Gonky Gong Rap".

It isn't legal to cover Donkey Kong Rap, so they had to sing
Gangkey Gong instead

Nintendo is suing even the original composer if he mention Donkey Kong.

Re: Reggie Is "Surprised" We Haven't Seen More Xbox Titles On Switch 2

Toastmaster

@Mando44646
Yeah, but Switch 1 was different times and Nintendo changed since then.
They charge 90-100$ for all first party games here and Switch 2 cost nearly the same as the powerful Rog Ally and Legion Go PC Handhelds. 680$.
It's only about money for Nintendo now.

Anyways.
Forza Horizon 5 would work fine on Switch 2 and here is why.
It's one of the most scalable games ever. It even works on a PC without GPU.
It was also released on the Xbox One from 2013.
A Switch 2 port would be easy for this giant game.

Re: Reggie Is "Surprised" We Haven't Seen More Xbox Titles On Switch 2

Toastmaster

@Mando44646 It's a very demanding UE 5 open world game, so it's unlikely it will run on Switch 2.

In latest news today.

According to Tom Warren at The Verge Nintendo never sent any development kits to Microsoft.
Nintendo don't want any Xbox games on Switch 2.

Nintendo look at Forza Horizon 5 as a threat to Mario Kart and is probably why.

Re: Reggie Is "Surprised" We Haven't Seen More Xbox Titles On Switch 2

Toastmaster

@datamonkey

Call of Duty doesn't exist on Switch, because they don't know how to shrink 200 GB down to 64 GB while keeping decent graphics.

Why doesn't Switch 2 support SSD already?

The only Nintendo console ever to not have any storage limitations was Wii U.
Wii U got 2 day 1 Call of Duty releases. Ghosts and Black Ops 2.

Wii U not only had games on Blu-Ray discs, but it also supported 2 x SSD's and HDD's at the same time at launch for unlimited game storage.

Wii U is the only Nintendo console ever that could have all purchased games installed at the same time.

Re: Reggie Is "Surprised" We Haven't Seen More Xbox Titles On Switch 2

Toastmaster

@Fiq_Strife They can't release it on Switch 2 because of Pokemon and Mario Kart. It would only sell 1000 copies, so it's not worth it.
Mario Kart always prevented third parties from releasing good racing games on Nintendo consoles.

Electronic Arts released around 20 Need for Speed games.
Why do you think they always skipped Nintendo? MARIO KART sabotaged NFS before it was even released on a Nintendo console.

Wii U got NFS Most Wanted and it flopped hard, because Wii U owners only wanted Mario Kart 8.

What i'm saying is. Stop buying recycled Pokemon and Mario Kart games if you want third party support.
Forget good games on Switch if people only want Mario Kart and Pokemon.

Re: Reggie Is "Surprised" We Haven't Seen More Xbox Titles On Switch 2

Toastmaster

Since when did Reggie move to a cave?
If i were Microsoft i wouldn't release anything on Switch 2 the next 5 years.
Why would Microsoft support a console for people who only care about Pokemon and Nintendo games?

Cyberpunk flopped on Switch 2 because people only want Pokemon.
Sony's Lego Horizon completely flopped on Switch too.

Microsoft and Sony have nothing that can compete with Pokemon, Mario Kart and Donkey Kong and is why they ignore Nintendo.
Pokemon prevented Nintendo from getting good third party support since 1990's.

Nintendo 64 sold 45 millions, and yet the console got 95% less support than PS1.
Why? Pokemon Stadium and Zelda prevented third party games from selling on the console.

Re: Xbox Reiterates Its Support For Switch 2

Toastmaster

@MrCookieCrisps
Those COD games are way too old to be ported.

Wii U got 2 day 1 COD Releases.
COD Black Ops 2 and COD Ghosts.
They even released free maps on Wii U 1-2 years after release.

Both of them was very good ports with Wii U Exclusive features.

Re: Xbox Reiterates Its Support For Switch 2

Toastmaster

@Sindayl

Yeah.
Rare Replay physical have been sold for 5$ in bargain bins for a decade.
A used Xbox One dosen't cost much more than a full priced game.

And yet they are willing to wait 20-30 years for a port that will never happen for technical reasons?

Re: Xbox Reiterates Its Support For Switch 2

Toastmaster

@AccessibleDaydream
People have explained many times here why a port is too complicated and too expensive.
And besides, Switch 2 is too weak to emulate Xbox One.

MS won't port Halo MCC anymore either way, because there is more money by releasing one by one game from the 6 in the collection.
Halo 1 being the first.
The rest will be out by year 2032-2040.

Re: Ninja Gaiden 4 And Ragebound Clash In Stunning New Artwork

Toastmaster

This game wouldn't exist if Microsoft didn't offer to fund it and pay Platinum to make it.

Microsoft haven't announced one single game for Switch 2 yet.
Probably because they know it's hard to sell games on a Nintendo console, when Nintendo's own games will always sabotage sales of third party games

HI-FI Rush, Hellblade 2, Gears of War, Pentiment etc. flopped hard on PS5 even with 80 million consoles on the market.
Microsoft lost money on all these ports.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Switch 2 Rating Spotted Online

Toastmaster

Here is why AC Shadows can't run from cart.

Switch 2 flash carts is slower than a 20 year old SDD.
They can only read at 400 MB/s.
What were Nintendo thinking?

AC Shadows needs minimum 1000MB/s speed for world streaming, so it's obvious why it cant run from the extremely slow Nintendo carts.

Re: Nightdive Studios Just Won't Stop, Announces Yet Another Remaster

Toastmaster

The original remaster released back in 2019 exclusive to PC, over 6 years ago and has a 80% discount on Steam right now.

This is a remaster of the old PC exclusive remaster.
Nightdive released many of these on PC only.

Blood: Refreshed Supply have a 66% off pre-order discount on Steam because PC already had the previous remaster.

Expect more old PC exclusive Nightdive remasters to get a console port in the future.

Re: Borderlands 4 Has Been Delayed For Switch 2, Digital Pre-Orders Cancelled

Toastmaster

@SalvorHardin

Console CPU's was bottlenecked since SNES and MegaDrive.
MegaDrive only had a 68000 CPU, because the 68030 version of the CPU still cost 500$ when the console launched.
68020 was also too expensive for MegaDrive.

SNES had upgrade in carts, but Starfox still only ran at 15 FPS. Imagine how Starfox would run on a standard SNES CPU.

PS1 had a terrible Temu CPU.
Nintendo 64 CPU was faster, but it was still a slow CPU.

UE 5 is a engine for 4-5000$ PC's, so i don't understand why developers would use it for PC and consoles.

Every time some developer reveal that their game uses UE 5, people cancel pre-orders and a bunch of others refuse to buy the game until it gets a 75% discount.

Re: Borderlands 4 Has Been Delayed For Switch 2, Digital Pre-Orders Cancelled

Toastmaster

@OrtadragoonX
Wrong. People get 100 FPS on PC in it's current state.

The worst version is PS5 Pro, because it performs worse than PS5 and Series X.
All console versions have a memory leak, so you have to restart the game frequently.

I doubt Switch 2 version will be out in 2025, because they need to fix the memory leak and the game first.
This can take a long time, because Randy the CEO at Gearbox think the broken console versions is great today.
Randy claim there is nothing to fix.

Re: Surprise! Donkey Kong Bananza Is Getting DLC, And It's Out Today

Toastmaster

@electrolite77
Yeah, the console industry used to be a mess because of 3 different markets.

Games also had different names for decades in different regions too to confuse people.

Xain'D Sleena Arcade for example was a European and Japanese title.
In USA it was called "Solar Warrior" as they didn't understand the original title.

On Gaming computers it was called "Soldier of Light" for unknown reasons.
If you ever tried to explain Xain'd Sleena, people said.
There is a game similar that is called Soldier of Light or Solar Warrior...

The are all the same game...

Xian'd Sleena released on Switch in a game collection in 2025 with it's original name even for Americans, so i guess they were confused.

Re: Surprise! Donkey Kong Bananza Is Getting DLC, And It's Out Today

Toastmaster

@electrolite77 It wasn't better on PS3 / 360 as Europe and USA still was separate gaming markets.
Back in 2010 EA and UBI still made exclusives to one console.

As for Wii U, Europe had more benefits than USA.
Earlier game releases, better promos and more collector's editions.

USA and Europe didn't get game releases same day until sometime during the Xbox One / PS4 gen.

When the console gaming industry crashed in 1983, it was in USA only.
Gaming industry went on as usual in Europe, because gaming computers was the standard, while consoles was a rarity.

Back then Nintendo ported their games to all gaming computer brands in Europe.

Re: Surprise! Donkey Kong Bananza Is Getting DLC, And It's Out Today

Toastmaster

@electrolite77 This was true since 1990's, but he was thinking of Wii U.
Nintendo wasn't greedy with Wii U at all.

  • New Nintendo games was priced between 30-50 bucks.
  • Collector's Editions with figurines cost only 50-55$.
  • You got 20% cashback the 2 first years on eShop.
  • It supported standard cheap PC headsets, SSD, HDD and whatever.
  • Wii U itself was cheaper than Switch 1 even when it had the big tablet included.
  • Nintendo sold first party games at up to 80% off on sale back then, and some eShop games was even free.

Re: Atari Acquires IP Rights To Five Ubisoft Games, Including 2011's 'Child Of Eden'

Toastmaster

@zidentia Yeah. Atari's history is a mess.

Infogrames does at least keep Atari Alive, but their Atari remakes games are mostly made by hired people.
Some of these remakes was made by only one person, and he also make non Atari games.

As for Retro, i have very good Retrobat setup because it's 100% portable. When do changes, i can just copy everything over a PC Handheld and don't need to change one thing on it.

I also have Antstream installed as it's on Game Pass.

This is the AAA industry in a nutshell.

Investors: The game looks finished. Sell it.
Developer: We haven't added gameplay yet.
Investors: What is gameplay? Sell it now.
Developer: We need to fix 1000 bugs.
Investors: What's bugs? Sell it now.

Re: Revived Publisher Acclaim Is Teasing Something For Next Week

Toastmaster

@JohnnyMind

Acclaim IP's was sold left and right, so what do they have left?
There is no way they will get back Turok from Disney for example.

If Midway is revived, they have no IP's either.
Microsoft bought Hydro Thunder and i think Warner Games bought the rest.

What's fascinating is that the revived Microprose still owned most of their IP's except for the Sid Meier ones.

Cinemaware still owned 100% of their IP's after 20 years of being gone.

Re: Gear.Club Unlimited 3 Speeds Onto Switch 2 Later This Year

Toastmaster

@X68000 @JayJ " I know, but...

"Atari announced that throughout April 2011, they had laid off over 51 of the 80 employees working at the studio".

They were defunct for 10 months and resurrected as small developer.
Most of the fired people became Ivory Tower as JayJ mentioned.

"Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown" from Nacon was a disaster. No Eden people was involved with it.
A sad ending for a nearly 40 year old IP.

UBI soft owns another racing developer that made games since 1984.
"Reflections". Most famous for Driver series and their Amiga games they made under Psygnosis.
Their 2 last games was Ode and Atomega in 2017. Both of them PC exclusive.
After that they became a support studio at UBI.
R.I.P. Reflections.

Re: Gear.Club Unlimited 3 Speeds Onto Switch 2 Later This Year

Toastmaster

@X68000

Funny thing is that this "Shovelware" developer used to make AAA racing Games.
They made the first proper open world racer ever that is still praised in 2025.

Test Drive Unlimited (1+2).
Their games dominated for many years before Forza Horizon.
They also made V-Rally etc.

Eden Games sadly kind of fell off the map and somehow went from making AAA Games to becoming a Indie.

The original people who made Burnout series also went from AAA to Indie, but spent years on their next game already.
"Wreckreation." which still have no release date.

Wreckfest / Flatout developer also went from AAA to Indie....

Fun fact:
Forza Horizon 1 - 4 was Indie games with AAA quality.
