Re: Several PlatinumGames Veterans Have Seemingly Left The Studio

Toastmaster

@Pillowpants Yeah, it's been quite silent from Platinum in recent years besides Bayonetta 3 and their mega flop Babylon's Fall which were shut down in less than 1 year.
It's gone because it didn't have offline mode.
It failed as it were a bad full priced game and had a huge amount of in game store items for real money.
Platinum sabotaged their own game there.

I'm a old fan of Platinum and bought most of their games on physical including the "First Print Edition" of Bayonetta 2 which i paid 90 bucks for on Wii U because only 15.300 were released globally. One of the coolest and rarest collector items i have.

Since the key people left at Platinum, they sadly may have fallen as a top action game developer.

Re: Surprise Leak Reveals Lenovo Is Releasing Another Switch-Like Gaming Handheld

Toastmaster

@contractcooker You can't stand that Switch have a minority of players and is why you TOTALLY ignore 100% that PC Handhelds is for PC Gamers.
Not Soccer Moms who dominate the Switch market.

You are moving goal post 2 times in same post.
Since you are totally unable to understand anything at all, i refuse to reply anymore as you will keep moving goal posts every time.

Re: Surprise Leak Reveals Lenovo Is Releasing Another Switch-Like Gaming Handheld

Toastmaster

@contractcooker You can also say Switch is a niche market as there are over 350 million PC Gamers and only 140 million Switch players.

If you quit a game on PC, and just click play on same game on a handheld where it automatically resume save.
That's called seamless.

Remember it's not 1990's anymore. PC Gaming became plug and play since around year 2005.
Back then standard for controllers etc. were set too and games on PC used same setup as consoles.
No need to adjust anything.

Re: Talking Point: Is It Time For HD-2D To Take A Break?

Toastmaster

It depends on the price.

If they are doing only 2D HD, they should be released as budget games.

They should not cost the same as Zelda Tears, Xenoblade games, Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher etc.
A 2D HD remaster have nowhere close to the development cost as the games above.

Re: Surprise Leak Reveals Lenovo Is Releasing Another Switch-Like Gaming Handheld

Toastmaster

@contractcooker Yes, PC Handhelds were designed for PC Gamers, and not Nintendo gamers.
There is nothing to learn on a PC Handheld for people who already play games on PC.
Save games etc. are automatically resumed on PC Handhelds from PC.
If you play Sony/Xbox games on PC Handheld, they resume/sync save games from PS5/Xbox on PC too automatically.
It's seamless.
When a PC Gamer buy a PC Handheld, you more or less only need to login to Steam, Game Pass etc. and you suddenly have 5000 +/- games on PC Handheld without buying any games at all.

Re: Surprise Leak Reveals Lenovo Is Releasing Another Switch-Like Gaming Handheld

Toastmaster

@Rainz Legion Go looks like a giant Switch, but were never a Switch competitor and Lenovo knew that.
Lenovo wanted to make a handheld that were nothing like other PC Handhelds.
The right gyro controller are also a real PC mouse you move around on the table, also a trackpad, 5 extra unused buttons that supports millions of keyboard macros etc.
Unlike Switch, Legion Go are 100% compatible with ever made for desktop PC and Laptops. SSD, Web cameras, HDD and whatever. It supports over 1000 controllers including Sony, Nintendo and Xbox controllers.
Legion Go have a long list of features not possible on a Switch.

I own Legion Go and it's makes my Switch look like a tiny handheld....

Legion's competitors are Rog Ally, Aya Neo, Odin, OneXplorer, MSI Claw, Asus, Steam Deck etc.

These PC handhelds are mainly for people who bought 1000's of games on Steam already on their Gaming PC's.
It's handhelds for PC Gamers, not Nintendo gamers.
It were clearly said 2-3 even by Valve years ago that PC Handhelds will only compete with PC Handhelds.

Soccer moms and kids doesn't know how a PC Handheld works, so they will stick with Nintendo anyway.

Remember there are around 350 million PC Gamers, and the market for PC Handhelds are huge and is why they don't need to compete with anything else.

Wouldn't you say a gaming PC market with 350 millions players are enough for Handhelds?
This is why Sony and Microsoft have so much focus on the PC Market.

Re: Surprise Leak Reveals Lenovo Is Releasing Another Switch-Like Gaming Handheld

Toastmaster

I bought the Legion Go at day 1 of launch in 2023 and it's the best and by far the most flexible handheld ever made.

I also bought a 15.6" USB-C Monitor for my handheld, Steelseries Gaming keyboard + Mouse, Docking station etc. so it can be used as a Laptop.
I paid around 1500$ for my handheld including all add-ons.

I have seen other people spending 1500-2000$ on Legion Go add-ons alone...

Re: Reaction: The Game Awards Left Us With One Big Question: Will Any Of This Run On Switch 2?

Toastmaster

Switch used a Tegra X1 chip from year 2014 designed for 4K/60 media streaming on Android TV boxes.

Switch 2 will have a chip designed for gaming and not video streaming like the one for Switch.

It will most likely support DLSS, AI upscaling and whatever too. NVIDIA still have the best upscaler.

I would worry more about storage options on Switch 2 than being able to run newest games.
Did Nintendo get the memo that 200.GB +/- games will be more common from third parties?

Re: The Game Awards GOTY For 2024 Is Astro Bot

Toastmaster

@_fatto_katto_ Yeah. It's a Sony show every year and the host only care about Sony and nothing else.

Helldivers 2 sure isn't the best on going game, and still won in multiple categories... Looks like Sony paid well for that.

No Man's Sky or Sea of Thieves should have won best on going as they still get free content upgrades after 7-8 years.
None of them were even nominated.
Sea of Thieves can't be nominated because it's a Xbox game, even when it's on PS5.
It will most likely be ported to "Switch 2" too.

Re: Zelda: Majora's Mask Decompilation Project Now At 100%

Toastmaster

@Lofoten It's legal since it doesn't include the game, and it will only work with one specific ROM version as there is no emulation.

Most people don't know that they fixed bugs in N64 games, so they released new updated carts with fixes and shipped them to stores.
This is why there are V 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 etc. of N64, SNES games etc.

Since you couldn't download fixes, they shipped new carts instead...
Those who bought the games last, got the best versions.

Nothing changed as you often still need to wait a year until you get a fixed game today too.

Re: Rumour: 'Switch 2' May Support Samsung's Upcoming MicroSD Cards For Higher Transfer Speeds

Toastmaster

@MJF Handheld times changed.

On PC Handhelds it's common with 2 or 4.TB .M2 NVME SSD.
My PC Handheld have 2TB + 512.GB SSD.

That 2.TB SSD are mostly filled with small games, because i have the big games installed on one of my gaming PC's.

Yes, the 2.TB on my Handheld only mostly have 10.GB games at most and are still almost filled.

On PC i only have 6.TB SSD, and need to upgrade to 10.TB soon as the games get bigger and bigger.

I wonder if Nintendo got the memo that games increases in size every year...

Re: Rumour: 'Switch 2' May Support Samsung's Upcoming MicroSD Cards For Higher Transfer Speeds

Toastmaster

@Serpenterror Yes, sadly 256.GB at most.
External storage don't cause any heat on any console at all.
There is no heat transferred through any USB cable on anything.

Kingston 1.TB SSD are frequently on sale for 50 bucks, but would cost far less for Nintendo if they bought millions of them.
After removing x amount of space for the OS and cache on a console you also lose a lot of space.
If you install newest Call of Duty games on Switch, you don't have room for more than Tetris besides it.

Also, good luck running huge games like Indiana Jones, Call of Duty BLOPS 6 etc. from a slow SD card without loading stuttering.

Re: 3D Print Of Rumoured 'Switch 2' Design Gives Us A Closer Look At OLED Size Comparison

Toastmaster

Why do you keep posting these fake homemade pictures?

How many Switch 2017 leaks were correct?
Exactly. 0% were correct....
How many Wii / Wii U picture leaks were correct? Again. 0%.

It's hard to take this site seriously when they can't tell the difference between homemade renders and real pictures.
Fake renders still looks fake as of 2024....Renders never look real ever as the essence are missing.

I'm surprised NL still don't know 3D Printers existed for home usage last 10 years.
You also don't know that 3D programs for home existed since 1980's.

People faked console leaks for over 30 years now.

Re: Rumour: 'Switch 2' May Support Samsung's Upcoming MicroSD Cards For Higher Transfer Speeds

Toastmaster

They need to add support for external 2-4. TB SSD.

Wii U is the only Nintendo console ever to support any external USB SSD used on PC.

The first thing i did with my Legion Go PC handheld that launched in 2023 were to add another 2.TB of SSD.

I have 2 gaming PC's too, so i don't need to install these huge games on a handheld.

Switch 2 is a easy skip for me if SD cards are the only option.
I'm tired of swapping SD cards, when on other consoles you can have everything installed at the same time on external storage.

Re: Michel Ancel Says Beyond Good & Evil 2 Development Issues Due To "Problems Between Managers"

Toastmaster

This game will be cancelled, especially in UBI's current state where they are losing money left and right already.
BGAE will be a bad game on release because of all the mess in development.
If BGAE releases, it will fail for the same reasons as Duke Nuke'm Forever.

UBI are also Sabotaging their sales by releasing new games exclusive on Epic Store, the most hated store ever on PC.

UBI are only releasing their games on Steam after they flopped everywhere else, and don't understand why no one on Steam are buying their old games...
That's the IQ of UBI's boss right there. LOL

Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Questions Future Of Consoles, But Not Nintendo Hardware

Toastmaster

@MrPeanutbutterz I hope you put a calculator on your Christmas wishlist, including a instruction manual that tells in details how you press a button.

PS2 sold over 160 millions
Xbox 360 sold nearly 90 millions.
PS3 sold nearly 90 millions.
Wii sold over 100 millions.

I totally agree with you as none of these consoles existed. It's just a myth from the Legends Smurfs saga.
That's why Xbox alone with 30 millions sold outsold all these combined as you claim.
As you know, 70 is more than 140.

Since consoles sell more than ever, it makes sense that Sony went multiplatform 5 years ago...
In fact Sony lost more money than ever on consoles because PS5 outsold Switch in Wonderland.

Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Questions Future Of Consoles, But Not Nintendo Hardware

Toastmaster

@cedarhyped If you go to Switch shop, 80% of the games there are shovelware no one care about.

PC have a huge amount of great exclusives that is impossible to play with a controller.

Then console gamers cheers every time they get a 5 year old PC game that sold millions, everyone forgot.

A lot of the big PC indies that releases on Switch etc. are dead old million selling PC games, no one care about.
Then these old useless games sell millions on Switch etc. after they are dug from a landfill, and people like you pretend these PC oldies are brand new games...

Do you see the pattern here or do you need it explained?

It's right in front of you and you didn't even notice...Is that even possible? LOL

Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Questions Future Of Consoles, But Not Nintendo Hardware

Toastmaster

@Lightsiyd The industry are already ahead of what you say, except for the budget and development time.
It didn't take that many years to include the whole planet in FS including the house you live in no matter where you live.

FS 2024 are nearly 3 Petabytes big and is why local install is only 30.GB as not even PC users have close 3000.TB of SSD.
I only have 6.TB SSD on my PC. I need another 2994 TB for local install... lol

Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Questions Future Of Consoles, But Not Nintendo Hardware

Toastmaster

@MontyCircus "I think the "consoles going away" idea is that they will be replaced by televisions via streaming. You won't need a box at all.
Right now you can get an Amazon firestick, plug it into your TV and you have an Xbox. By all accounts, it doesn't work very well at the moment, but a few years down the line..."

Yes, TV's will handle everything at some point in the future without any box connected.
TV's already supported Xbox controllers the last 10 years.

When consoles are gone, Gaming Handhelds will still live on for while, but later they might get replaced with phones.

Phones in it's current state can't replace any gaming handheld as long as Candy Crush and farming simulators dominate them.
On top of it, majority of developers refuse to make phone games.
Phones are kind of the "black sheep" in the game industry as they rarely get any proper games.

PC handhelds runs Xbox Series X games natively, and the same for all PS5 exclusives ported to PC.

Also remember you can make your own TV console interface on PC Handhelds or use pre-made ones from Switch, Xbox or Sony for example.
There is no limits. If you want a tailor made console interface, it's easy make it yourself. Just use EmuDeck, Playnite or something.

Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Questions Future Of Consoles, But Not Nintendo Hardware

Toastmaster

@chefgon Sony closed and fired all their AA studios after PS3, and is why their game output are very slow.
Sony are paying for third party exclusives instead of making their own games.

Microsoft made low budget games like Hellblade II, Battletoads remake, Pentiment, Grounded, HI-FI Rush, Bleeding Edge and others i forgot. MS will still make low budget games with shorter development time.
"South of Midnight" coming in 2025 are also a low budget game i think.

Yes, Hellblade II is a low budget game and is why it were also sold at a lower price as it's not AAA and never had a AAA budget.
You don't need a big budget to make the best graphics.

Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Questions Future Of Consoles, But Not Nintendo Hardware

Toastmaster

@Serpenterror
Remember that a lot of Nintendo games are made by third parties too and not Nintendo themselves.
Microsoft made the 3 Petabyte of scanned planet data from their own Bing, and made it work in a game.

Flight Simulator 2024 have a story campaign mode, so it's also a real game now.
In fact older FS games had missions you could fail in, so i don't know why you didn't know that.

Also remember you can walk around the planet on foot in FS 2024 and it will most likely get cars soon, so you can drive instead of flying and walking.

Fun fact: The animals in Flight Simulator 2024 were licensed from the Planet Zoo game, so you can say Frontier were involved too.

Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Questions Future Of Consoles, But Not Nintendo Hardware

Toastmaster

@BTB20 Yes, Pac-Man is still alive as namco keeps milking it.

Donkey Kong isn't really a active IP as the last one ever released on Wii U over 10 years ago.
And besides it's nothing like 1980 Donkey at all.

Pac-Man stayed true to it's origin nearly all the time unlike Donkey that have nothing to do with the 1980 version

Flight Simulator were always the same for 42 years, but now covers the whole planet so you can fly over your own home no matter where you live on the planet.
First thing i did in Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024 were to use a helicopter and fly around my city...

Re: Talking Point: Can Sony And Microsoft Really Compete With Nintendo In A New 'Handheld War'?

Toastmaster

No one can compete with Nintendo Handheld sales.

TV Consoles is dying, and is why 20 PC Manufacturers makes gaming handhelds already. All with TV support.
And now Microsoft and Sony will join in.

Most of these handhelds will sell millions, but none of them will sell like Switch. Switch 2 won't sell as much as Switch, because of 10's of other handhelds.
Nintendo isn't alone anymore.

In fact there are more handhelds competing now than it was in 1990's.

Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Questions Future Of Consoles, But Not Nintendo Hardware

Toastmaster

@SalvorHardin Is this a early April Fool's joke?
I haven't configured a controller on PC since year 2004 when Microsoft set the standard on PC.

100% of PC games supported Xbox controller out of the box last 20 years, and is already mapped correctly by the developers.

'You are also 100% ignoring that Steam Input on PC supports any Nintendo and Sony controller too. No configuration needed. Are you sure you used a PC, and not a Macintosh?
Welcome to year 2004, or 2024...
I won't even ask what you are doing. LMFAO.

Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Questions Future Of Consoles, But Not Nintendo Hardware

Toastmaster

It's true that PS6 and Xbox 5 will be the last console generation.
Remember Wii U were the last Nintendo TV console ever.

PC Handhelds runs 100% of new games natively already, and you can connect them to TV and choose between 10000 different controllers.
On PC Consoles it's irrelevant if you wanna use Xbox, Sony, Nintendo, Android, MAC, PC +++ controllers. 100% works in PC games.

People are ignoring that console market haven't had any growth at all last 20 years.
Switch can't even outsell PS2 even when market is bigger than ever.
There are 300-350 million PC gamers today and that market increases all the time.

Anyway. Even the demanding Stalker 2 and Indiana Jones 2024 game runs fine natively on Handhelds.
I mean real handhelds like Legion Go and Rog Ally, not the underpowered Steam Deck.
