This is a improvement for several reasons, but there are one major drawback.
You can't start installed games from the game card menu. I guess this is only for game sharing. Still should have had the option to start installed games.
At least this makes it much easier to see what's installed and what isn't.
I think their massive flop "Babylon's Fall" hit them hard.
Full priced game and were still designed as a free live service game.
It's not only their fault as Square Enix were the publisher.
Square thought it would be a live service mega success only because it had the "Platinum Games" logo.
People didn't care. A bad game is a bad game.
Babylon's Fall single player required online servers to work. The server were shut down after 1 year, making single player useless.
Yes, Capcom is extreme when it comes to DRM, but they still remove Denuvo in their games 1-2 years after release.
Capcom like so many others refuse to pay Denuvo money after sales slowed down.
When Capcom remove Denuvo, their games gets a sales boost.
How much their DRM free games sell, will decide how scared they will be of DRM free.
The Witcher 3 were released DRM Free on GOG and still sold millions there, outside Steam sales with DRM.
This were back when the PC market were way smaller.
I only buy CDPR games on GOG.
I own Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher series DRM free there.
Here is a very old fact about Capcom.
When the gaming industry crashed only in USA over 40 years ago, Capcom, Konami, EA, Activision still made new games as usual for gaming computers in Europe. Commodore 64 etc.
@Anti-Matter
Satoru Iwata were the most consumer friendly of them all.
"Consoles for everyone".
Collector Editions including figurines for 50 bucks.
30 bucks for their AA Games,
Giving away free AAA games even if you bought Mario Kart 8 physical on release as it included a code as proof.
20% Discount vouchers left and right when you bought games the 2 first years, back when digital game sales wasn't a big thing.
Folders on home screen. Free first party apps that they would charge money for today.
Support for 2 external HDD/SSD's for "unlimited storage".
Cross-Buy with 3DS on a few things.
Miiverse: A few Developers developers gave away free Steam keys there if you bought their Wii U version etc.
It went downhill after Iwata's passing.
@NintendoKnight It were mostly a fast cut 90 minute long game trailer and a not a movie.
The movie made no sense and were very poorly directed and edited.
They rushed everything possible with the Mario movie and is why they missed out credits and whatever.
@Lightsiyd Unlike on Switch, the ones on Legion Go are ergonomic and better to hold.
Right gyro are also a PC Mouse, but also better than on Switch 2. It includes table a adapter in the box for steady movement.
The right gyro also have a touch pad for handheld mode. Legion got it covered.
Another thing. The mouse buttons on right gyro and the other extra unused button on left gyro can easily be remapped to keyboard macros.
The "console" software by Lenovo are very easy to remap with as you can't do anything wrong. There is a Legion Go on screen, so you just click on the correct button to remap. No need to know what YZ or whatever is at all.
@Spider-Kev I bought a bunch of them from some game shop in Norway at least 5 years ago. They stopped selling them sometime later.
I only have 2-3 unused left of them.
Ebay have insane prices now, but official Nintendo shop sell them in 5-packs for 9 bucks.
They are even cheaper at AliExpress, but those may not be of same quality as the official ones.
@Jumwa Yeah. They even hinted at year 2027 at the earliest.
There are always someone think it only takes one year to make a big open world RPG even when its normally takes around 8 years.
People have no understanding of development time nowadays.
Gamers were much smarter in the past than they are now, because in the past they knew how long development times were.
Today most people knows nothing when it comes to development time required for games.
Anyway. They are also working Fallout 5.
I guess they are hiring other developers to help out like they did with Oblivion and other games too.
Switch already have "external storage", but placed internal in the handheld. SD Slot works the same way as external storage.
Even without SD slot, they would just transfer games over network like they did already on GameCube. SNES and N64 had third party devices to copy carts.
Even more if it didn't have to process 2 screens at the same time which were a bit demanding in several games, so they had to lower TV resolution to 720p in those games because of it.
@B3RTAY
On Twitter there are people who must have some weird mental disorder as they screenshot any post right away and have 1000's of them stored to use them against people sooner or later.
If you fix a spelling error, they post a screenshot of the post before being fixed.
This is not 100% a fact, but i guess you get the point with all the huge games nowadays.
Storage vs price are much more expensive on Switch 2 than any other console ever in history.
Let's say you buy 5 games the size of Call of Duty on Switch 2.
They will in theory fill a 1.TB SD card that cost 200 bucks.
You need to add 200 bucks on top of the price of the games you buy. 5-600$ for 5 games including their storage space.
200 bucks to store just 5 modern AAA games is insane. If you wanna play other games, you have to swap SD card...
I have 10.TB SSD on my gaming PC, so i don't have to download games all the time.
If 10.TB sounds like a lot, it isn't as 2.TB SSD's are sold for cheap on weekly sales all the time.
@tobsesta99 Gold points and similar won't be back on Switch 2 either. There will be no rewards or discounts this time. It's all about squeezing every penny possible out of people now.
Meanwhile Microsoft paid me nearly 400$ so far just by running their games minimum 15 minutes a day on Xbox and PC on menu screen.
Some guy in USA got 3 free Xbox Series X consoles from Microsoft using MS Reward points.
USA used to get a lot more points than Europe, so you could get free Xbox consoles for them.
Oblivion, Doom Dark Ages,The Outer Worlds 2, Indiana Jones 2024 and Forza Horizon 5 will most likely be on Switch 2.
New Call of Duty's will be on Switch every year.
Forza Horizon 5 is a huge beast, but it runs at 60 FPS even on 10 year old potato PC's.
One of the most scalable games made the last 10 years besides Forza Horizon 4...
@DiamondJim
Digital Foundry said most of UE 5 should work on Switch 2...most. It's how terrible this engine is. lol
There is a 99% chance this game will be on Switch 2 and same for Doom The Dark Ages releasing next month.
Microsoft announced no games for Switch 2 at all, but said it will get a bunch of ports.
Doom, Oblivion, The Outer Worlds 2 and Indiana Jones 2024 will most likely be ported to Switch 2.
Forza Horizon 5 will 100% for sure work on Switch. One of the most optimized games for many years.
Call of Duty 2025 will be ported 100% for sure as it's a promise to FTC.
Switch 2 version is why last gen consoles will get a new COD again...
It's crazy that a 1.TB SD card cost nearly twice as much as a Samsung 2.TB SSD which are much better.
If Iwata still lived Switch 1+2 would probably have supported external cheap SSD's too like Wii U did.
I paid only 110 bucks each for multiple 2.TB Samsung T7 SSD's with 1050 MB/s speed in the past.
When it comes to SD cards, stay away from any brand that isn't trusted.
It's not cool to have a SD that stops working after a week because you wanted to save 20$.
Samsung, Kingston, Toshiba and Sandisk SD lasts for who knows how many years.
Since Lexar made SD cards at least since the first digital cameras over 25 years ago, i expect them to be trusted too.
@Anachronism Yes, but it only ran at 30 FPS because of their bottlenecked CPU. D2 were never fun to play on PS4 and Xbox because of the poor frame rate.
Destiny 2 would work on Switch 2, but who would play any FPS at 30 FPS today? You will have a huge disadvantage in PvP for example.
@Anachronism You can forget Destiny 2 on Switch as it's a very CPU demanding game. Even the most powerful last gen console Xbox One X couldn't run it at more than 30 FPS because of the CPU.
They won't do any more ports anyway as 95% of the players stopped playing it.
Sony never signed a deal with Bungie for a Nintendo version and Sony won't allow it.
Sony wasn't allowed to block Xbox version when they bought Bungie.
Marathon will probably flop anyway as it only have 3 maps.
Bungie will most likely make only 1 new map each year for Marathon, and it will probably cost money.
Everyone who played Destiny 2 know Bungie haven't made a new map in probably 7 years.
The 3 yearly events in D2 were made around 5 years ago and are still used in 2025, but are worse than ever.
All rewards are now behind a paywall. Free players gets nothing anymore.
Anyways. No one is as lazy and slow as Bungie when it comes to content update for games.
Marathon will probably flop because of how badly they handled Destiny 2.
Bungie have no clue how to run a live service game to keep players.
Meanwhile you can get 2 x Xbox Series S consoles for the price of one Switch 2 in Scandinavia.
When Series S are on sale, you can 3 x Series S consoles for the price of one Switch 2.
Pricing don't make any sense anymore except for Series S which cost only 200 bucks on sale sometimes.
At this price each Doom should have had it's own physical, but even then it wouldn't be worth it. Maybe they could get away with 66$ for this instead of 666.

@Pigeon Your welcome.
When not on sale, both Dino Crisis Remasters cost 15 bucks or so combined in a bundle.
Re: Nightdive Studios' CEO Says That Game-Key Cards On Switch 2 Is "Disheartening"
@Vyacheslav333 You said no RE games were there.
Just wait. Capcom will add more there as 55% of their game sales were on PC in 2025 so far.
Only 45% on Nintendo, Xbox and PS combined.
Capcom are dying in the console market, so they will focus more on PC.
Fun fact: When PC market were at it's worst 20 years ago, Capcom were the first one to care about PC.
Re: Nightdive Studios' CEO Says That Game-Key Cards On Switch 2 Is "Disheartening"
@Vyacheslav333
You are wrong.
Capcom just released Breath of Fire IV on GOG.
Resident Evil 1, 2, 3, SF 2 Alpha and Dragon's Dogma are also on GOG.
More Capcom games will be added there.
Capcom love the PC market as it's their main sales platform.
In 2024, 54% of Capcom's sales were on PC.
Only 46% of Capcom games were sold on consoles. Nintendo, Xbox and PS combined...
Capcom isn't doing good on consoles anymore.
Re: Nightdive Studios' CEO Says That Game-Key Cards On Switch 2 Is "Disheartening"
Nightdive Studios are all over preservation nowadays too.
They had a interview with GOG this week that does remasters DRM free.
Capcom allowed GOG to remaster Dino Crisis 1 + 2 exclusively for GOG / PC this year.
Capcom even paid for billboard ads for them.
55% of Capcom sales are on PC, and is why Capcom allow PC exclusive remasters.
The owner GOG is the same who made Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher series.

What's the point of selling physicals that don't include the game?
It's much cheaper to photo print the covers at home, especially with Epson EcoTank printers where it's almost free to print A 4 sized photos.
Original Switch plastic cases cost only 1$ each.
Re: Opinion: Steam Deck Fans Are Seriously Underestimating The Switch 2
@Lightsiyd Yeah. hehe.
I bought Legion Go at launch in 2023.
Looks like a giant Switch.
I have a external 15.6" USB-C Monitor, Keyboard and mouse for it so i can use it as a Windows Laptop.
Windows handhelds isn't locked to gaming only.
PC Handhelds are in reality Gaming Laptop's, but a lot more compact.
Re: Exclusive: Shin'en Talks 'Fast Fusion' On Switch 2, Reveals First-Look Trailer
@Sahnec Same here. I bought both of them.
Re: Opinion: Steam Deck Fans Are Seriously Underestimating The Switch 2
@Maulbert Correct.
I own Legion Go PC Handheld and i can run 10.000's of games never released on a Nintendo or any other console ever.
PC Handhelds were made for PC Gamers, not console gamers.
Steam Deck's only competitors are Legion Go, Rog Ally, MSI Claw, Aya Neo, Odin, Acer, Zotac, OneXplorer etc.
Re: Opinion: Steam Deck Fans Are Seriously Underestimating The Switch 2
@Pillowpants:
Steam have way more exclusives than all Nintendo consoles combined ever.
Over 100.000 PC games were never ported to any console.
Anyway. I bought Legion Go at launch in 2023 and it's a beast compared to Steam Deck especially for Unreal Engine 5 games.
Steam Deck even struggles with several UBI games, unlike other PC Handhelds.
When that's said, Switch were a one of a kind handheld in 2017 and is why so many PC gamers bought switch back then.

Yeah. Media were busy flaming Wii U, except for more or less two times.
The "Luigi Stare" on Wii U sure went viral and made sure everyone knew Wii U existed.
Super Mario Maker had a lot of hype on Wii U for a long time, while it had no hype at all on Switch.
Still didn't affect the console sales much.
Re: Nintendo Removes Variable Refresh Rate TV Mention On Switch 2 Websites

Re: Best MicroSD Express Cards For Nintendo Switch 2
@Elitepatriot Yep.
PC Handhelds do exactly that. They have Internal SSD and SD slot, and external SSD on top of it.
SSD are way cheaper, faster and more reliable than SD too, but Nintendo still refused to support that after Wii U.
One 1.TB SD card for Switch 2 cost nearly twice as much as Samsung T7 2.TB SSD.
I paid 110 bucks each for 2 x Samsung T7 2.TB SSD's which is 4.TB in total. (1050MB/s speed in benchmark)
One slow 1.TB SD Card for Switch 2 cost the same as 4.TB SSD. Crazy.

Physical sales went downhill since 2013 and it had nothing to do with Game Pass as it happened years before it existed.
Most people got tired of swapping discs, and bought them digitally.
Why? No need to move from the couch to change a game...
Blame the lazy people for this, not Game Pass which didn't even exist when this happened.
Re: Best MicroSD Express Cards For Nintendo Switch 2
@Elitepatriot Yeah, but it should also have been possible to connect a 1-4 TB USB-C SSD to the dock like on PC Handhelds.
Wii U officially supported 2 x external SSD/HDD's at the same time. Wii U had no custom hardware.
It supported the same things as PC and Laptops.
Just buy any PC SSD, Keyboard, LAN Card etc. and it works on Wii U.
