Re: Review: Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen (Switch) - Red-Hot Nostalgia In A So-So Wrapper

@ShadLink How is it "not going to work" ???
Everybody else makes it work but Nintendo couldn't ?

@somnambulance Limited Run's Jaws was 35$ on physical... the digital is 15 (which is still ludicrous). But the Jurassic Park was 30 for 7 games which makes more sense...

I'd be happy to part with 20$ for Red or Green, but not barebone. At least some QoL and the "original" GB game would have been apreciated.

@Dazman
The "Mona Lisa" comparison doesn't really stand : it's pricey to see it because it's unique. Its value rose with time, as did the value of Pokemon cartridges as they became rare.

It is a fact that digital games tend to lower in value with time. And 20$ for a single retro game IS pricey when compared to what is done by other editors :

  • the Megaman, Castlevania, FF, Mana, Bomberman or Disney collections don't add up to 20$ a game.
  • Arcade classics are around 7 or 8 a game
  • any game that was sold 20 or more was actually a remaster or a remake

You're allowed to be fine with the fact that it is on the pricey side... but you can't deny that it is.

PS : actually I a more annoyed by the laziness than by the pricing.
These games deserved better.

The Mario versus DK being so low (and below the original game) makes no sense at all.

King of Swing and Jungle Climber also deserve more credit : those were very interesting concepts, with such minimal gameplay !
