Re: Feature: The Biggest Retail Games Hitting Nintendo Switch This Spring

Shovelware has to do with the quality of the game. Being a port has to do with wheter or not it was available elsewhere before. So the issue is one of two things :

>> one wants games that are exclusive, but that's a false problem : why would anyone need others not to play the same game as him ?

>>one has already played the game, but then it's a very personnal issue.

I read you entirely. I said "you" not meaning you per se but meaning "one". I agree with your shovelware argument, but less with the subjective nature of the word "drought" : there's plenty of good games on the list, there's no denying that. Calling it a drought because of some screwed up criteria defies logic.

I was replying to roadrunner, I wanted to tag you as he was exchanging with you but I didn't do it properly.

I understand that some people are not hyped by ports/re-releases. But you can't just ignore them and claim there is "a drought" just because you're not interested in them. Otherwise how about people who only enjoy Versus Fighting games. Can they complain about a drought when for a couple of months there's none coming out ?

An analogy is not meant at proving that two things are the same, but to clarify a fact that is relevant in both cases.

Here I was trying to make you understand that the Switch has a lot to offer, except for those who already had these experiences elsewhere (= "the people who own more than a Switch" as you said yourself).

I'm not sure if you played all those games elsewhere or if you just need exclusives for the sake of it but the fact that you disqualify games as worthy options doesn't make them disapear.

Whoever told you there would be a lot of exclusive Sushi on Switch obviously lied to you. If need the games you play to be played only by people owning the same system you have, you might be happier some place else : there's "exclusives" coming (namely Nintendo games) but they won't be that many.

Just like one's "absolutely favourite game"...
Anyway my point was not that we should keep playing the same games over and over. What I meant is that it's a very subjective point of view, relying on one's own experiences (=not all of us had Sushi for lunch). So complaints should remain on that note : "Not much for me : I've played most of these games already" is not the same thing as "What a drought ! There's nothing to play on this console !"

PS : I agree with you on one point : the "portability" argument has to stop. Everyone has by now understood that the Switch was a hybrid.

Did any game undersell "suposedly because people were waiting for it to come out on Switch" ?

Same day or delayed does matter : some people just can't wait so they'll get the "home console" version, and then 3 or 6 months later when it shows up on Switch some might get it again on a portable system. I doubt anyone would buy two copies of a gameon the same day : one for the portability, the other for the Hi-Res.
