@Nincompoop
Your point on "time wasting" is very interesting.
I think it is more to be seen as Indies often seeking the "retro feel" of the old days when you had to restart the whole game (sometimes no saves or password at all), but today having people go through the exact same levels over and over couldn't be done. So procedural makes it possible in a way.
@Stocksy @Moroboshi876 Comparing the price of a game being freshly released on a system that required work to the price it's been on sale at some point elsewhere after a few years isn't fair. If it was the amount a publisher could hope to sell it for, no game at all would be ported to Switch.
But I agree 30$ feels pricey when compared to the price of Celeste, Shovel Knight or Hollow Knight.
@Spoony_Tech @link3710 Splatoon almost sold 7mil. It's a lot but seven ain't ten. It might get there someday but I wouldn't bet on that. It sold twice less than the big three in both US and EU.
@Krull That's amazing that you enjoy him so much. I can't get into his gameplay. I did New Game + for Shovel and Specter but this one I'm reluctant to go back for more. I always felt this campaign was weaker, but reading this makes me realize it's just a matter of taste.
WARNING ! This game is really difficult. At least if you're not used to the genre. Don't get me wrong : it's great. But I couldn't play it without the wiki.
@MrBlacky Not as simple as that : when you're producing micro-SD, you can produce millions and millions of units. A game like Wlof won't sell more than 2millions (that's already very optimistic). Plus it's a very specific format. But you might be right, idk.
@Silly_G "These games are too expensive, I can get them on PS4 for 8.99$" Does that sound familiar ? I don't get how having a larger than usual cartridge, and therefore charging even more for the game is going to be good for business. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure microSD space is cheaper than SwitchCartridge space.
@RudyC3 I'm a victim of the EU import canendrum myself too, and yes : 80$ for a game is really expensive. I personally don't understand why bother to import a game you can get digitally for less that half that price (at least on sale).
I get your regret that it didn't get a full release back in the day, but I think you realise that :
> pushing back the PS / Xbox / PC release to wait for the Switch version was not possible
> releasing the game physically simultaneously as digitally on Switch would have been done if possible
> having a full blast physical release on Switch today would be plain suicide.
I think the price is just a placeholder. Just like the cover art can't be anything close to the real thing (where is King of Cards ?)
Thanks Yacht Club Games for daring delay the release and make it an even better game, when you could have rushed it and cashed in on it earlier. I honestly can't see myself get bored with the game(s) and would love it to keep going... (paid DLC, maybe ??)
@zool You want to play the game that's supposed to be played with the joycons but you don't want to play with the joycons that they gave you with the console. That's very logical indeed and Nintendo is really stupid for not making that happen.
@setezerocinco If six months later you're not interested in the game anymore, then you just saved money. Good for you ! You can invest it in the next game that you'll have forgotten about six months from now.
The complexity is a big turn off for me. I bought The Escapists 2 because the concept and DA were very appealing to me... and it was already too complex for me. Prison Architect seems even harder to get into.
I think I'll get the need for "exclusives". To me if you don't have other systems, you're fine with Switch games being elswhere. If you have other consoles... then how many more games do you need ? Aren't Nintendo exclusives enough ?
@CCore28 Nintendo's doing great right now : the console is selling like crazy, and most of their games sold great and are still selling a lot : This year Kirby, DK tropical freeze and Mario Tennis sold amazingly well (and N-Labo too, mind everybody), and I'm pretty sure Mario Party, Pokemon Let's Go and Smash are going to hit real hard.
@Nincompoop @Mando44646 @CCore28 @Cobalt When was the last time a Nintendo system was big on 3rd party support ? I'd say the Snes was. If you bought the Switch expecting plentiful "3rd party AAA exclusives" you got the wrong system.

Re: Octopath Traveler Might Not Receive DLC, But A Sequel Is Being Discussed
If there's a sequel, I hope this series will follow the Final Fantasy model : new characters/new setting each time.
Also let's hope they heard criticism about the repititivity of the game.

Crossing my fingers for a Nintendo sports game as Wave Race, Pilotwings or 1080° (this one for winter would be awesome).

@faint Seven is not FAR from ten, yes.

Into the Breach ?????????????
It was released on the 28th. That's amazing it's that high!
Re: First-Person Survival Horror Agony Will Torment Switch Later This Year
@Bunkerneath @Spoony_Tech
It's not much more disgusting than DOOM. I'd be bothered if this site limited its coverage to Nintendo cuteness.

Re: Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams - Owltimate Edition Arrives On Switch This Month
@Kochambra I'm all about trying to be fair, read my first comment.
But you must admit that 30€ isn't on the cheap side. It was released for :
> 15€ in 2012
> 18€ (game+DLC) or 5€ (DLC alone) in 2013
Re: Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams - Owltimate Edition Arrives On Switch This Month
@Moroboshi876
Comparing it to the release price someplace else makes sense indeed !

Splatoon is huge in Japan, but it's quite small other places and remains far away from the 10million sellers that are Zelda, Mario and MK8.

People asking for a physical release now have it.
Expecting it to be cheaper than the eshop version is just delusional.

And now people who have been BEGGING for a physical release are going to complain that it's too expensive.

Re: Nintendo Switch Nindies Showcase Summer 2018 Announced For 28th August
@Nincompoop
I think if there hadn't been any indies in the Switch library, Nintendo would have done 3 things :
As for the lack of 3rd party AAAs, I'll always prefer a great indie over a good AAA.
Re: Random: THQ Announces Let's Sing 2019 For Nintendo Wii
Finally 3rd party AAA support !!
