@SillyG "exploiting a hobby aimed at children for financial gain" Isn't that what any company creating toys, videogames, or cartoons does ? Is that supposed to be wrong ?
@Lofoten True. A Splatoon game at launch will be great for hardware sales in Japan, and will bring westerners to the IP as everyone will pay attention to launch games.
I was more than happy to go through the first one at the time (and the challenge was high). Today there are so many wonderful games, not sure I could make time for this one...
@FawfulDX It is a shame indeed. Makes absolutely no sense.
I'm going to get through the remake as a memory refresher because the original still stands as one of my favourite videogame experiences but this is disapointing.
@BTB20 Those games are on Switch, but Nintendo has control over what can and can't be there. If they put Netflix on, whatever show they judge acceptable is now on Switch and Nintendo can't do anything about it.
More time spent streaming Friends & the Office for the 100th time is less time playing games and then buying new ones.
Plus Nintendo likes to keep it "family friendly", so appart from YT and their crazy policy about any piece of flesh being exposed, every streaming service is a problem.
Anyone going "how about the US ???" has not been watching the eshop sales carefully : every game that is discounted in one region has a comparable discount the following month in the other region.
@SteamEngenius Afterbirth+ has been 20$, which is VERY cheap regarding the amazing content. The Repentance DLC is too new for a sale, maybe this summer...
@Not_Soos If making fun of religion bothers you, then you shouldn't play this game indeed. Many dark themes are depicted such as abortion, child abuse and religious fanatism. Of course it's free speech and their right to convey any message they feel, but the game is not for everyone, for sure.
"Offline mode" is the best thing ever. It was such a pain getting error messages and having the game try to find a connection EVERY SINGLE TIME you play !
@Zyph Edmund dictanced himself, and thent Tyrone apologized and clerared things out. They're better now if I understood correctly. As for Nicalis, Repentance had been signed with them before the "***** storm".
@Amsterdamsters You mean 0.4 cents an hour ? I think the price is not what's really at stake here. If Nintendo had managed to add value to the experience (maybe by implementing leaderboards or achievements, or with updated graphics), most of us would be on board.
Really hoping this one will be the home for a series of DLC throughout the Switch lifetime, rather than having another cartridge to buy 3 years from now.
Of course online tournaments is THE feature we need. I kept playing World Tour for about two years because every week I got into the event. There is no understanding how they did not include them.
If gameplay is entertaining enough, everybody will happily go through it. When everything is in the reward and not the actual experience, the whole thing becomes "work". What's the point, then ?
@Franklin
I said "You guys are taking this thing way too seriously. This is a Nintendo website, calm down."
You... guys.
But your answer is "it's not me, it's the one that cited the study". I don't care one bit. Never said it was you alone, and your asking multiple times for proof makes you part of it.
As for yourself, you ignored my question too : "What are you trying to achieve here ?" Unless of course being vehement with strangers is your idea of fun.
(I wasted too much time on you, you're out as far as I'm concerned. Take care !)
@Franklin You did express contempt towards people in this thread, mind you. (hence the animosity that several people expressed)
I have no problem with people discussing non-Nintendo stuff, just your asking for "studies with figures proving one's point" is ridiculous. Let's keep it light and entertaining, the place for heavy politic statements and debates might not be between a Pokemon walkthrough and a Zelda review.

Re: Random: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Sold Better Than Tears Of The Kingdom Last Quarter
It's a better game.
Re: Ed Boon Says Mortal Kombat 1 Could Have "Years" Of Updates And DLC
If it's year 2, then it's already "years". The guy's right !
Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns HD Costs $60 On Switch
Metroid HD was a much more impressive rework than Luigi 2 and DK Returns... it makes no sense that they're more expensive.

@Lofoten True.

Re: Feature: We Look To The Past To Predict Every First-Party 'Switch 2' Release Until 2029
Pilotwings as a technical demo on launch is always a good sidekick to the "big" launch game.

Re: Poll: Is $60 Too Much For Nintendo's Switch Re-Releases?
@the_beaver True. That was ideal !!
But I'm on Paper Mario TTYD right now and I'm not regretting 1$ spent on it.
Re: Poll: Is $60 Too Much For Nintendo's Switch Re-Releases?
I'd rather pay 60 for a beautiful HD remaster than have a mediocre experience for cheaper.
Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Endless Ocean: Luminous?
Feels like Subnautica without the thrill...
Depending on reviews, we'll see !

Re: Review: Mario vs. Donkey Kong (Switch) - An Easygoing, Kid-Friendly Remake That's Just Fine
@PJOReilly "Won't provide a satisfying challenge"
Even with the "Plus" version of each level ?
I remember the original was tough to get all on perfect but seems like the score has been removed...

Why do you think there's no vocal chat ?
Re: Talking Point: Would You Like To See More Streaming Media Apps On 'Switch 2'?
No way it happens.

None of the games I'd play are there :
Goldeneye
Pilotwings
Blast Corps
WCW vs NWO world tour
Micro Machines 64

@Lordplops That's a bit dramatic, isn't it ?
Re: Talking Point: How Many Hours Is A 'Short' Game For You?
It rarely is too short. Actually most games could be trimmed of some tiedous moments.
Re: Review: Metroid Dread - Quite Possibly The Best Metroid Game Ever Made
12 hours is perfect !!!
I'm in my late 30s and I don't have a lot of time on my hands. So a short and intense experience is perfect for me.
To everyone complaining about it : stop pretending you don't have a huge backlog waiting for you.

I believe you're intelligent enough to understand what contempt is.
