Re: Pokémon x Nature x Adventure Project Teased In Japan

ThatNyteDaez

@Pokester99 Gotta agree with you that it's absurd they're going out of their way to make stuff other then more content for the games. They money and resoures going into this project should be funnelled into the mainline games. But we're not going to get that until Gen 10 or something...

Re: Pokémon Unite Launches Next Month On Switch, But Mobile Players Will Need To Wait

ThatNyteDaez

I love pokemon and I love the MOBA concept. But this game just looks like it wont be fun. If they'd made it in the same vein as every other moba (equipment, towers, minions, etc) then this would have been passible. If they left in type advantages and disadvantages, that would have served to make gameplay infinitely more interesting then what it currently is now. But in its current state, I'm not convinced it will get anything more then lukewarm reception from the audience.

Re: Nintendo's Direct "Dominated" E3 2021, Peaking At 3.1 Million Viewers

ThatNyteDaez

'Most viewed' doesn't mean much. I'm disappointed in Nintendo this year - Xbox undoubtedly had the best showing. And I say that as a primary Nintendo/Switch gamer. Battlefield's showing alone blew most of what Nintendo had out of the water.
If you're not a Zelda, Mario or Metroid fan, this year's showing was just completely lackluster.

And before anyone says anything; no, I didn't look at any leaks and spoil it for myself beforehand. And no, I didn't go in expecting very much at all either. I don't normally have high expectations for Nintendo that can't be reached, but this year I certainly kept myself in check - knowing that Covid is going to have an effect. But still... it bothers me that games like Elden Ring, Battlefield and Redfall are being pushed out and we get... Mario Party? 2D Metroid? Game and Watch Zelda? Nintendo didn't even try to go for a new IP. They didn't even show us Splatoon 3, Pokemon Legends Arceus (I wasn't expecting to see it to be fair, but its still something to keep in mind), Bayonetta 3, Donkey Kong or Kirby. Some of which haven't had anything for awhile. Wario isn't even a full-fledged game worth 60 bucks and Mario Rabbids is produced by (and was shown off first by) Ubisoft.

I know they said they have a few other surprises that weren't being shown off today, but how anyone can believe this years E3 was "saved by Nintendo" is beyond me. Xbox started things off with a high bar and everything else got progressively weaker. Only Square Enix and Platinum Games had passible showings and everyone else just disappointed.

I will say that Sky: Children of Light coming to Switch is exciting though. At least there's that.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of Nintendo Direct At E3 2021?

ThatNyteDaez

I went in with low expectations (almost neglibible, in fact) and I was still let down. I didn't expect to see Pokemon stuff, we already knew what's coming there. But Nintendo didn't try for a brand new title, they didn't assault our 5 senses with a selection of dozens of games like they usually would, and there wasn't too much to look forward to today/later this month etc.

In terms of spectacle, Xbox knocked it out of the park by comparison. They fired dozens of games at us, they had brand new games and some major epic sights and they had stuff available for people the same day etc. Either Nintendo has been hit harder by Covid then I thought, or they really are playing their cards close to their chest. Too close imo, but Im surprised we didn't see more Splatoon 3, anything for Kirby, just... most of it was stuff we already knew about or stuff that would only satisfy people with niche tastes. I'll admit they did good with Metroid's showing - nice surprise for fans. And Advance Wars is a lovely exception too. But what else was there really?

I'm very disappointed - I only have one game to look forward to and its not even from Nintendo. For me, Xbox performed way better and Square Enix wasn't far behind. We'll see how Bandai Namco does but on the whole, Nintendo isnt even top three this year. Just... bad.

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate Summer Game Fest Kickoff Live?

ThatNyteDaez

"Can't wait to finally play thatgamecompany's Sky on Switch?"

Understatement of the past few years. I've been watching this game and waiting for it since it was released in Japan and have been jealous the entire time. So Im glad we're finally getting our hands on it too. For free as well. I didnt catch the entire show but only two games stood out for me. And since my most anticipated game from years ago is finally hitting Switch, I can safetly say that E3 is starting off passible this year. Which is better then other years.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Dragon Quest Game?

ThatNyteDaez

Sentinels of the Starry Sky is still hands down one of my best gaming experiences ever. It had everything I wanted out of the game - engaging story, fulfilling multiplayer, interesting battle system, awesome bosses, a wide world to explore, deep character customization with a unique skill system that could be tailored to whatever the player prefers... It never even got boring seeing the same moves used over and over. I actually hope it gets remastered at some point in the future for Switch or something. But either way its made me hope for one particular Dragon Quest to come to the West eventually because of how fun that game was. To this day, it still puts a smile on my face.

Re: Random: Boy Has To Choose Between Nintendo Switch And Pizza, Chooses Pizza

ThatNyteDaez

@Sourcecode "Kid has his priorities straight. He will go far in life."

I dunno, he chose between an experience that would last him no more then two hours at most and a console which could provide hundreds or thousands of hours of enjoyment. Kid chose instant gratification over something that has much more longevity and value.

I feel like once this kid was old enough, he'd go to a casino, spend all his money and end up worse then he went in. Heck, maybe he'd even spend all his money on lottery tickets and hope for the best until he had nothing left. He's clearly got that "payoff now, please!" mindset, honestly. And that doesn't always turn out well.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The February 2021 Nintendo Direct, Then?

ThatNyteDaez

It wasn't the best and could honestly have delivered more. I get that Pokemon is exempt because Gamefreak is gonna do its own thing very soon, but we didnt even get Genshin Impact.

Phantasy Star, Yokai Watch, various other titles that have the potential to be on Switch and instead we get... Fall Guys, Plants Vs Zombies and a couple of other titles that are much MUCH older then the system itself. And we're supposed to just be okay with that after all this time? Yes, Covid has been an issue, blah blah blah, but Splatoon 3 was the only big hit (if you dont count Pyra/Mythra in Smash) when there should have been 3-4 for a regular Direct. The wait wasn't really all that worth it. Splatoon 3 is a good start, however.

Re: New Pokémon Snap Scores April Release Date On Switch, Watch The New Trailer Here

ThatNyteDaez

I'll admit Im one of the few pokemon apologists out there for a lot of what Gamefreak have been pulling in recent years. But this is a spin-off title and the fact that it gives off a much more advanced feel then Sword and Shield is a bit insulting. If the mainline games took some cues from this, they'd be completely amazing.

Im not interested in New Pokemon Snap because I dont see the appeal of an entire game dedicated to snapping pictures of pokemon. Especially since we have a button for doing so on the Switch itself. But I'm hoping Gamefreak takes this and incorporates some of these ideas into the next Mainline Game. We're coming up to the 9th generation now, aren't we? They need to start making some serious jumps now.

Re: Sonic The Hedgehog Joins Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 As A New Playable Character

ThatNyteDaez

I'm not even all that much of a Tetris fan. But since Puyo Puyo Tetris came out on Switch, I played it almost religiously. This game doesn't seem to grip me either, but I'll probably like it enough to want to buy it and play it non-stop. Tetris can grip anyone like that and they've added more then enough content to the first game to make it enjoyable for anyone. Just building on whats already in the first game for the second and adding new ideas will definitely make this second iteration a strong seller.

"At the end of the day Nintendo is full of business men and devs, not gamers"

Full-fledged gamer here, been playing games for years and mainly Nintendo games to boot. 1) I didn't even know who Geno was until people started whining about him being in Smash in the first place. 2) I doubt the majority of gamers -and even Smash fans overall- care if Geno is in Smash or not. He's just not interesting enough when you put him next to Sephiroth. And sure, while Minecraft Steve is far from being interesting (I agree with you) his game is still HUGE. And he's in Smash to represent that. Geno on the other hand... well, his game isn't huge and neither is he. So, its not a surprise he's in. I dont know whats so hard to understand when Sora still hasn't been added and he's arguably much bigger then Geno.

Re: Super Baby 2 And Gogeta [SS4] Are Joining Dragon Ball FighterZ

ThatNyteDaez

I'm not thrilled about Baby Vegeta. Gogeta SS4 is kinda cool though since I feel thats his first real showing of strength and what he was capable of in the series. The Tenkaichi Budokai games really sold him as an awesome character with super fast movements and strength that bested every other character in the series by a margin. So Im not all that upset he got in.

But if I'm being honest, I'd have liked to have seen Goten and Trunks in. Like... come on, why are they always left on the back burner? We've seen them fight and we've seen them use energy attacks. And there are already other kid characters in the game. And we already have fusions and their... fusee?'s in the game. Why not them as well?

I don't really play the game anyway so its not that big a deal to me. But it still rubs me the wrong way that we got VIDEL over them. Goten and Trunks were even flying long before her, for gods sake. And yet she gets to be a whole other character? Master Roshi too when barely anyone even plays him? Come on...

I expected Omega Shenron before Baby Vegeta though. So, Im starting to think we'll get another season of new characters to follow after Gogeta SS4 is released. So... here's hoping.

Re: Poll: Pokémon Sword And Shield Launched A Year Ago, Has Your Opinion On Them Changed?

ThatNyteDaez

I actually can't quite place it. On one hand, I have enjoyed them, but on the other, they don't quite stack up to my experiences in the past. Playing through the game felt like they have the skeleton down well enough, but the games were clearly missing the meat on the bones. It felt hollow to play through and, while the DLC has done wonders to make up for it - its too little, too late. I still look back on my time playing Pokemon Sapphire fondly, running around blindly searching for trainers, pokemon and slogging through endless ocean routes. They really captured the adventure aspect of video gaming in the early games. But Sword and Shield, while I do enjoy them for what they are, they miss that charm from the earlier series. They look great and function amazingly, but Sw/Sh only have things sorted on the surface. None of the glitz runs deeper.

Re: Review: Hardcore Mecha - Thrillingly Overblown Anime-Style Robot Action

ThatNyteDaez

I picked up the demo as soon as it was available and LOVED it so much! And the experience has only gotten better since picking up the full game.

Visually, its all looking very crisp and detailed. You can see the effort put into this with just a glance. Gameplay wise - Im not usually into mecha but platformers that play as smooth as this are exactly what I like. The character moves very well, its snappy and responsive, the enemies aren't brilliant until you get to the bosses but when you die, it never feels like the game ripped you off. And better yet, the multiplayer aspect is incredibly fun! You get a huge stage to play on and just shoot down your friends with any of the mechs you want!

I could go on, but trust me when I say this game is worth the money!

Re: Turn-Based Strategy Epic Brigandine: The Legend Of Runersia Launches Exclusively On Switch This June

ThatNyteDaez

Back on OG Xbox, I used to play a game very similar to this called Wrath Unleashed! Which was very fun - I spent dozens of hours on it! The main difference though is that when a one of your units landed on the same tile as an enemy unit, you'd be forced to take the fight into a an arena-brawler to duke it out. Which was also very fun! Basically you could essentially choose how you played, whether it be a mix of tactical strategy and arena brawling or either or! You weren't locked down! Obviously this game lacks the arena brawler aspect, and I'll say it definitely made the battles more interesting and changed things up some, but I suppose with this game they will have improved on the tactical side of things.

In Wrath Unleashed, a favourite strategy of mine was to take my strongest unit (the water Demi God) and just crush every unit I crossed paths with in the arena brawler. This game could be as fun though!
