Way back on Ps3 (I think it was) I played through the entire game with my bestie. We both had one half of the controller the entire time and that was basically it. It didn't take long and we went from start to finish together. I can't imagine the "co-op" mode being much different. So I'm not sure why its being added unless there's a whole new story to it.
Hard pass. Playing through all previous versions makes you realize how stale the game is. Main series games advocate 4 moves in total, stats and items to mix up the gameplay and keep it interesting. I loved the realtime action gameplay of the Rumble games but they never stacked up in any other aspect. They lacked the ability to make each pokemon feel different.
@BenAV Yeah, same. If I'm not downloading Youtube on my Switch - no chance of me grabbing Netflix. That said - if there were a few games coming to Switch based off the original series' they have going on, I'm interested.
Of course there will be some sort of compatability. It's too good to pass up the kind of cross-marketing both games will get out of doing so. And not to mention GameFreak are well aware that people have a range of pokemon from the main series as well as Pokemon Go that people will have bonded with. It makes sense to give people the chance to play with them in the newest pokemon game thats going to introduce a new region and upwards of 800+ total to the IP.
The thing that gets me is that while Arena of Valor (to compare) has an extremely limited moveset for each character (three abilities each + passive) the game is much more engaging and intuitive because of the equipment you buy that grants different buffs and passive effects. In short, there's far more going on in AoV in terms of strategy and long-term playability because no two matches can be the same. There's too much variety.
Now this game? I see many abilities on each hero, and several special moves by the looks of it. But already I can tell its incredibly hollow. The number of heroes is good, but there's no depth - no reason to keep coming back and continue playing beyond the multiplayer function. Its more of a party game then one based on skill etc. And thats a crying shame.
Well we were in the middle of our brains developing in the younger years - so it makes sense. But yes, as someone else in the comments section has already stated - its nostalgia. The main reason why Gen 1 has been referenced to death across the whole series. Gamefreak is aware of this too.
Stopped liking Yugioh after the first season or so. After that, the card game became bloated in its complexity and absurdity. Want no part in this game as a result.
Like, I legit have seen someone on youtube take out opponents on their first turn. You can't tell me thats okay.
Looks interesting but then they lost me at just four characters. I didn't like any of them right off the bat and was hoping to see other characters you can play with but it just shoots itself in the foot.
5th of November? Sounds like a good Sword and Shield release date if you ask me. They're probably gearing up to announce that officially, then. Will definitely work with the new games in some fashion (though I don't know how since Switch doesn't exactly have a camera)
Checked it out on youtube. The trailer is surprisingly good - better then I expected. And Sonic doesn't look "that" bad. Still kinda jarring but I could live with it now that I've seen it. BUT WHY ARE HIS ARMS FURRY!?
@maruse I think the variety is supposed to come from the weapons/people in your party? Most RPG's tend to have quests that aren't too different from one another so I can't see it being too much of an issue here.
FINALLY! This little game is going to be a gold mine and I'm going to love every second of it when I get my hands on it. I've checked out japanese gameplay of it and it looks very engaging! Especially the boss battles and the multiplayer! Now that's what I like to see in my games!
Forgot to mention that I sincerely hope they keep the Co-op multiplayer and flesh it out for Sword and Shield because we've been adventuring alone in Pokemon for 20 years and that's kinda bogus when you remember that the series has advocated playing with/being together/adventuring with friends through the anime, advertising and whatever else.
What exactly is this article highlighting? Because we knew about this before, right after Lets Go. It was in that same interview. If this is supposed to spark discussion - sure. But if we're getting an entire article on it, I had expected to get something new in the way of information. But whatever, I guess.
Really hope Pokemon Sword and Shield are geared towards all these ideas and thought processes. They could make it the very best Pokemon game in a very long time that would easily crush sales if they implemented various free updates in the form of events and new pokemon but Gamefreak loves to walk backwards.
I was super interested in this game initially. But then I did my research and found the gameplay doesn't measure up. Shame considering this is what Xenoverse was based off... What makes it even worse is that this is coming at a time where Xenoverse 2 and FighterZ are already prevalent in the DB community. And then we have that new game on the horizon that we may just see at E3 this year. I can't see many people willingly picking this game up when they have much better to choose from. Cool concept though - if Yugioh didn't already claim that market.
The earlier pokemon games got away with those graphics BECAUSE we didn't have much better at the time. But now? Bringing this kind of game into the spotlight when people have access to BOTW, Odyssey, Devil May Cry and Kingdom Hearts? No chance.
Third time I'm jumping into it too and I can't even regret it a little bit. I spent dozens of hours on that game and now it'll be my most-played game alongside Arena of Valor and Splatoon 2.
I love Smash to hell and back, or I did. But Ultimate disappointed me somehow. Movement feels clunky and awkward and the air-dodge just gets me killed all the time. I hate that its less about mind games and more about whoever gets the first hit in. So... yeah. I'll just wait till the next one.
Abhorrent behaviour. What part of not playing the game is "fun"? Its not about breaking the rules, its about the poor sportsmanship and the fact that some of you view this kind of play legitimate. If you come to a fighting tournament - you're expected to fight. If you show viewers anything but - of course people and players are going to get annoyed. Yes, its not breaking rules but go play tag outside with your friends if that's what you want to do.
I hope players like that just stop playing competitive games entirely. It's sad. I feel even more sorry for the Ice climber player for having to endure that rubbish.
White Dapple Daulies with a better sub bomb and better special? I haven't played Splatoon 2 in literal months now but this makes me wanna consider jumping back in...
