Reggie was my favourite. Yes, he made lots of mistakes but he had a "youth pastor trying way too hard to be cool" energy that I found hilarious. I have faith in Devon to lead because she seems to be a serious fan if the Bulborb plush is any indication and she has a credit in Punch Out Wii which is one of the best games I've ever played. Also she had no prior employment at EA, which is a massive bonus. I think Nintendo might finally escape its slump!
This was my favourite 3DS game next to Animal Crossing New Leaf! I put so much time into it and loved all the silly situations that could happen. This sequel looks awesome and the wait for it to come out makes me feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas! I've already created a spread sheet of all the miis I'm going to add haha.
I was going to get it because I love collecting merch like this, but without including any of the new pages they're adding? Nope, for that reason I'm out.
Reminds me of that story where they found gen 1 Pokemon costumes in an old theatre. Seems to be a lot of abandoned Pokemon promotional material out there.
@Stormcloudlive No, I read the whole thing. I just think it's messed up to be punished for the crimes the previous owner of the cartridge committed that you had no idea happened in the first place. I grew up on entirely secondhand videogames, who knew how many of those were copied or dumped? Yes, the console ban was reversed but the fact it happened in the first place is horrible. Nintendo raises prices of Switch 1 games and then punishes innocent people who were priced out and bought a used copy. That's messed up.
Good to know that Nintendo is now punishing people for buying secondhand games instead of games directly from them. Could they get any more anti consumer?
I think the best solution to please both parties would be to separate the open world interconnected races and the typical Mario Kart three laps of the same course into their own grand prix categories on the menu. Online races could separate the two options too. Like people in the lobby could choose the three lap version or the intermission one lap version. The problem is that Nintendo seems to be removing gameplay and player choice, despite charging a higher price. Still interesting to me that this game was in development since the early Switch 1 days and yet it came out like this. Makes me wonder if they took out characters, options, and tracks in order to distribute them as DLC later...
I'm a big fan of the general insanity of the DK lore and timeline so this Direct intrigued me. I wonder if there's some Yoshi's New Island type time travel stuff going on because Pauline here is a child but DK and his family are their current ages. The evil characters identify themselves as Kongs which is interesting too lorewise. I wonder if they are ancestors from the distant past. I feel like they could be from the past because one of them looks like an orangutan and one could be based off of the minkey enemies from the original trilogy, both species said to be exiled from the Kong clan for being traitors. I'm more here for the lore than the gameplay as you can tell lmao.
I'm still confused why they're trying to make this a live action movie when an animated one would be a million times better. My friend is a massive Zelda fan and she agreed. Maybe I've been turned off from live action movies from all the god-awful soulless Disney remakes...
@N00BiSH In Luigi's Mansion 3, Luigi sounded like he had a really bad head cold. Even my seven year old cousin noticed Luigi sounding weird in that game. Mario sounded like an old man in that game too.
I'm kind of confused how the Switch 2 is managing to sell so well at launch. All Nintendo consoles do best at launch but due to the circumstances surround this one, I'm surprised. We're in the middle of a terrible recession thanks to a certain you know who and the console has like one exclusive right now (Mario Kart), how is this console doing so well? Are people this desperate for escapism in 2025? I know I am, but I can't get past the price personally. I don't think people where I live can afford the Switch 2 or its games. In Canada, games went from being $80 to $110! I could afford $80 easily but $110 is a big oof. That's a lot of wages for Mario Kart! The console with Mario Kart is $700! It's sad, but I'm holding out for either a a steep drop in sales resulting in a price cut (wishful thinking, I know) or inflation to get even worse so the Switch 2 looks affordable. We're getting ripped off in comparison to USD and its so unfair... I was going to be first in line to preorder until I saw the price...
I appreciate Charles Martinet for keeping it wholesome. He won't sell out and advertise in the iconic Mario voice or say unsavory things. Respect. I don't think it's because Nintendo restrictions or anything.
I could understand him being recast because his Mario and Luigi voices were beginning to not sound so good, but Samantha Kelly and Deanna Mustard being recast was a weird decision and their replacements are not good at all. Daisy sounds afraid to yell when that was her iconic thing and Toad sounds like someone doing a bad impression on a Youtube parody. My best guess was that they became too expensive and Nintendo hired in house people they could pay peanuts. Kevin Afghani's take on the Mario characters isn't my favourite either. Maybe he needs more practice. Every game his impression gets a bit closer but it's still not there yet. He sounds stilted and not very natural, I don't think he could improvise in the voice quite like Charles could. It doesn't come naturally to him.
I feel bad for laughing at this lol. This is one thing you genuinely can't blame on Nintendo. Reminds me of when people were getting blisters by misusing the N64 joystick during Mario Party and Nintendo had to give people gloves. Is Nintendo going to issue special Switch 2 joycon attaching gloves? XD
I've had three sets of joycons drift on me on the original launch Switch, one of which had buttons stop working one day out of the blue. I swear I'm not rough with the controllers at all and I have small hands so I'm not vice gripping them! I've had PS1 and original GameCube controllers continue to work without issue even though I've actually abused them like crazy so it's clearly a Switch problem. The fact that this is a continuing issue on the Switch 2 with controllers that are way more expensive is unacceptable imo. Paying premium prices for MadCatz controllers is ridiculous.
Don't have a Switch 2 but I think LCD is acceptable for it. Maybe it's because I'm not picky with graphics or display though. I understand why some people would dislike it because they're used to the Switch OLED. I personally feel like the Switch 2 is overpriced already and an OLED screen would not help keep costs down at all.
@NTELLIGENTMAN And the 3DS advertised a 48 hour battery life if I remember correctly and through playing it constantly, I found that to be pretty accurate! Peak handheld gaming. They should have put more focus on the battery life and portability. The Switch 1 was already borderline too big to carry around and the Switch 2 is even bigger.
Glad I'm holding out for a revision. My launch Switch had a terrible battery life too. Battery life is important to me because I have a ridiculously long commute. The Switch 2's base model is pretty massive as well so the Lite version will hopefully be more portable if they make one. Not to mention I suffer from having tiny hands and have to buy controllers designed for children to play comfortably so a Lite version is a necessity for me XD
I mean, surely Nintendo knew people cussing was a possibility. XBox Live was a fun to place to learn all kinds of new words back in the day. If you add voice chat to a game, inevitably kids will start swearing at everyone. My only worry is that Nintendo will flip out about this tarnishing their family friendly image and crack down on censoring game chat. They're already listening in and watching through the camera which makes me all kinds of uncomfortable...
@Troubbble I think everyone is trying to justify that they had to spend $80 USD haha. They don't want to admit that the game is not worth what Nintendo's charging.
Enjoy your $100 USD controllers which still have drift lol. Man am I glad I cancelled my pre order right after the Switch 2 focused Direct. What a crapshow!
I'll wait for the eventual ambassador program price drop, a second iteration where they iron out all the launch bugs, more first party games, and I'll get the Switch 2 in a Lite portable only format, assuming game prices go down from completely unaffordable levels because $120 CAD for a video game is a tad ridiculous. I don't want or need any accessories or Game Chat, so hopefully they remove the Game Chat button from future iterations. I also might buy games used. This would really just function as a souped up Switch 1 for me. Nintendo has been very vague about upgrades to Switch 1 games so I'll have to see how those work as well. I could afford the Switch 2 day one, but I'd rather wait it out. I've learned many lessons from buying the Wii U at launch lmao.
@squidduforeal I guess I could use it in my computer, but shame on me for wanting to use the thing I paid money for lmao. Nothing wrong with more storage.
Hey kids, can you spell "tone-deaf"? This is ridiculous. They went from explaining how to use the controller to explaining magnet circuits. If you need to explain how to push buttons on a controller, I think explaining electrical engineering is going to fly over their heads. Especially if they pay money for this...
I loved Final Fantasy 9 growing up. I bought the game as a kid because it came with multiple discs, I thought I was getting quite the bargain! Some of the dialogue was really poignant and stuck with me all these years later.
I thought the Direct sucked up until that point but Tomodachi Life made it an instant 10/10. That was my favourite game on the 3DS, which is saying a lot because I had a disgusting amount of hours in New Leaf (which is still my favourite Animal Crossing). It's such a quirky experience you can't get anywhere else. It's like the Sims, but if they had autonomy.
I managed to enjoy all the Banjo games (minus the GBA one, never played it). I'd be happy with whatever they come out with unless they make something completely unplayable, obviously. That doesn't mean they were all perfect. I have criticisms of every game in the series but overall they were enjoyable. Nothing is perfect.

A bit disappointed that this Splatfest is a rerun with no extra gear or anything, but I still like them anyway. Team Ghost for the second time!

Good riddance. Doug used everything he learned during his time at EA and screwed everything up. This new person seems pretty promising though.

When you first boot up the game, the loading times are a bit ridiculous but every subsequent time you play it the loading improves. It's really weird.
